God is the potter we are the clay. We were made for him not the other way around. The good thing is that God is love, compassionate, peaceful, and everything holy and good. He also made it possible for us to spend eternity with him if we believe and confess with our mouths that Jesus died and rose again for our forgiveness of sins. Satan uses lies like this song to deceive many into believing God is unjust or non-existant. I will say a prayer for Sarah. This song does not encourage me!
@rogofam Gay. Read the bible. God kills innocent women and children just out of spite and anger. Whole towns were killed because of the sins of one person. That doesnt sound like love and compassion to me. You cant have it both ways sweetie.
Hahaha...i cannot get over all the idiotic Evolution THEORY comments!!! Please> PLEASE, PLEASE go back to school..oh' wait a minute..They teach that MORONIC THEORY there and state it as fact based, when in actuality all their theories have absolutely NO Concrete PROOF. Go and find out for yourself. You could be absolutely right - evolution could be completely moronic. But don't let anyone else answer that question on your behalf. ;)
@GodisTruthseekTruth I can get behind love. I can even get behind Jesus saying we should all love. I believe he was the world's first hippy. But divine? No. Why can't Jesus just been a dude with some good ideas? Why does there have to be a god, some mythical being, so far away parental figure who will make us dinner, take us on vacation, keep a roof (atmosphere) over our heads, and take us to see Lion King in 3D?
Everyone can have a relationship with God all you have to do is turn from your sins this is called Repent and ask our lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart and he will bring down the Holy Spirit and fill you up with his love but you must mean it when you ask this and God does know all of you even if you do not know him and God loves all of us it does not matter what we have done in past just turn from your sinful ways ask our Lord to forgive u and he will. God bless u
Dear people , God promises to reward our faith by giving us his power and helping us bear persecution. Suffering for our faith will strengthen us to serve Jesus Christ We must be faithful to him. Jesus will come back with judgment on those who do not know God and to those who refuse to obey the good news of our lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power. THESSALONIANS chap 1v 3-12 Thank u and God bless all.
Although I have a strong opinion that humans created God and naturalism is the way of life, you must realise that gravity has yet to be "proven." Fact is an opinion that has yet to be disproved.
If I could just inteject here for a moment....... HEY CONTACTBRY !!!!
You did an amazing job directing this video... It was very well done. I especially liked the dark, gloomy undertones and use of the night vision... Keep them coming. That was some fantastic cinematograpy!
And Miss Kenney did a great job too...
OK, back to the debate that will never be resolved, and is ultimately a huge waste of time to continue being involved in for any length of time...
@ricksparks Perfectly worded. Especially the fuckstain part. What a fucking hypocrite to hit you and then cry "don't hit me" Fucking religious hypocrites!
@ryan49er1 I can hear anger in her voice, something I've never heard in any of her own music. A bitter anger, that one who believed for a long time but was no longer able to maintain the delusion. Angry at both the delusion itself, as well as herself for falling for it.
Greg Giraldo was right; everything can be made worse or more horrible by Sarah McLauchlin. XTC's original version did not need her stripped down, Quaalude, zombie walk touch to become relevant.
This should have been included in 'The Chase' OST......haha, the boy cannot even go after a tubby version of sarah (is it she the 1 in this video?). what a loser!
Gosh no one can enjoy a song without breaking into a big stupid argument... the debate about God is old as the world itself and there's no universal answer, nor bad nor good, so get over it, and if some people can't stand to hear a song that disturbs their beliefs then they're free not to listen to it and to turn to Christian Rock or whatever.
@Jillian Don't be so quick to say that Christians can't enjoy this song and that we should listen to Christian music. It's non-Christians that started this debate. And As a Christian, I still really like this song.
@CantSeeTheStars I don't say that Christian people don't like this song (I'm not going to talk about millions of people about one peculiar song, I know better than that), but if one is upset about a tune, well they can very easily drop it and listen to something that doesn't hurt their feelings or beliefs.
duh there is no god its just to make us humans happy knowing theres a reward if ur good and a punishment if ur bad just all a big lie to keep humans happy
There is proof that God exists! If you truly look for Him, you will find him (notice I say truly, meaning with your heart).
God is all merciful. There's suffering because people sin. People are poor because others are greedy. People are killed because of hate, selfish anger, greed...etc . As long as people sin, there will be suffering.
@T211274 Tell that to all the people who died in the Indonesian tidal waves. The people who died in the Australian floods and Hurricane Katrina. It will be very comforting to them to know that not only did they die for breaking arbitrary rules that God himself seems to be sketchy on following, but they'll be burning in hell according to your own logic. Thanks..................you dick.
@Beethoveniac He's not necessarily saying the those who sin are suffering. But when people sin, it can and often does affect everyone else. Hitler sinned, but he wasn't suffering, others were. Do you get what I mean?
@CantSeeTheStars I guess. But you miss my point. Man's actions can only be blamed for so much. People need to stop giving God credit for all the good without taking him to task for all the bad. That was ultimately my point.
@Beethoveniac Yeah definately. People have free will so we can do good. And if I went out tomorrow and helped a blind man cross the road, or if my house was suddenly fixed of all it's damage from the recent earthquakes, it doesn't mean that it was God's doing. And if something bad happens it isn't God. I believe in karma too. I also want to say that I like that you put a capital 'G' for God even though you don't seem to have strong beliefs for him.
@CantSeeTheStars It's not just about karma though; it's accountability as well. The God that Christians have conjured up has clearly shown that he's equally capable of both good AND evil. But most Christians will only say the good came from God, never the bad. When it's "good" it's God's will...but if it's "bad", suddenly God "works in mysterious ways"; it really gets to me. I could care less about God either way, it's his fan club that ultimately makes me sick.
@Beethoveniac Okay... Firstly, Christians did not "conjour up" God. He was written about in a book which is put in the Non-Fiction section of libraries.... We don't believe he is capable of evil, so I don't know where that came from. There are consequences to every action, whether good or bad. And I am not one of those Christians who believes God delivers punishment. When things get bad it is Satan trying to test our faith. It's no fan club, it's a family. Sad you aren't a part of it...
Satan trying to test our faith? You've got to be kidding me.
God is a complete asshole if he created Satan simply to torment us in an attempt to see if our "faith is strong".
We're in a world where babies are raped. Yes, babies. I guess I can thank God for effectively testing my faith to the point where I came to the conclusion that he doesn't exist. Good job protecting your precious creations, God. You allowed "Satan" to rape babies in an attempt to test our faith.
@ParadoxAnonymous God created Satan, the person. Not the evil man he turned into. God also created all the murderers out there, but not as murderers, they changed to that themselves. How is it God's fault that babies get raped? It's the rapists fault. We have freedom for a reason. You can't say you don't believe in God then say "Good job protection your precious creations, God". You can't blame anything on him if you're not willing to have faith.
@CantSeeTheStars "Good job protecting your precious creations, God."
Those are the exact words I said at the age of 12 when a man raped one of my school mates. I became an Atheist shortly after.
I was willing to have faith plenty of times, but how can you have faith in something that shows absolutely NO signs of existence? I'm not willing to devout my life to something as ridiculous as religion when it had done me no good in the past.
@ParadoxAnonymous And again, he doesn't "allow" these things to happen. IF you had a kid and when they grew up they did drugs and were abusive, would you expect other parents and people in general to turn around to you and ask you why you would "allow" such behaviour? No, because they have the freedom to do so, it's their own choice, and even a parent can't change that. They can just let their kid know they're there when they are ready for help. That's how God is. He is our Father.
You're missing the large factor that separates that analogy from what I typed.
Parents aren't capable of what "God" is supposedly capable of. "God" has the capability to put a stop to the world's pain, but he won't.
The victims were not given a choice. Why weren't the raped and murdered babies saved? So the criminals couldn't be helped, but what of the victims? Innocent victims never deserved what happened to them. "Is God able, but not willing? Then he is not God."
@ParadoxAnonymous Thanks. It seems to me theists out there have such hypocritical stances when it comes to accountability. They'll take people to task for what they believe or don't believe; but the second someone points out the inconsistencies and flaws of their supposed "infallible" god, suddenly it's all about "Well that's my faith and what I believe. And I feel sorry for you that you'll never see the light and be saved, etc." If salvation hinges upon half-truths and total lies, I'll pass.
@pbrskater26 actually evolution is impossible, look it up, it has been disproven but so many atheists continue to push it because they know nothing else and dont want religion to be true because they have fought against religion for so long. the proof is all around you, just open your friggen eyes! im an ex atheist, and im sorry but you are living a sad life as an atheist. i dont just believe, i actually know that god is real. take the time to look at your life and read the bible and just think.
Sorry cant do that, creationism cant explain how biology works, why and how there are defforent variations withen species and how each variation is spacificly adapted to a specific envirnment! To deny that there was a struggle for exestance, hence natural selection. To deny real science for religious authority is not only wrong but intellectual suicide. But to humer you if there was a god how do you know he did not spark evolution, then let natue take its corse!
@massmayhem12 On what planet has it been disproven? Because (and you might not be aware of this), this is Planet Earth, where Evolution has successfully survived every test that has been thrown at it (unlike religion, which has yet to provide evidence for anything it says, at all).
If you have such evidence, by all means present it so you can collect your Nobel prize. While we wait for you to do that, I won't be holding my breath.
@massmayhem12 I've read it. The philosophies were kind of cool, but the religion is kind of shit. What makes it worse is people like you who don't read it with the historical context or even read it while thinking for yourself. You probably go to church on Sunday, right? Jesus said not to. Matthew 6:5-6. Congratulations, your religious practice is a joke.
@pbrskater26 It's not like they're incompatible theories. Many "Christians" just freak out about it because their priest/pastor/bullshitter told them it's a lie. They don't actually read the bible. Just the passages they're told to, which omits any context. It's horribly unfortunate.
Wow, creationist logic! If the natural world cant explain everything then it had to have been supernatural, it's like saying god did it that's it who needs science anyways. Or, whas that your weard way of invoking Pascals Wager?
@pbrskater26 Humans are humans, dogs are dogs, cats are cats, etc... If evolution were fact there would be humans with tails somewhere on the planet. There would be humans somewhere that would be sprouting wings and so on. The fact is there are no living missing links between species, only lies claiming they existed in some fossil form a million years ago. We are not getting genetically better as a species as evolution would suggest.
This is why I dont get you creationists, your logic is if the natural world cant explain everything.......it had to be supernatural. You must have never taken a science class in your life....or home schooled ( which is were alot of religious brainwashing happens). Oh...its too hard to understand science so go must of done it. Dogs commen ancester is the wolf, years of selective breeding led to deforent species (kinds of dog), same with cats. God did not make each species as as!
@pbrskater26 A wolf looks like a type of dog to me. There's no evolutionary proof there. I am not discounting selective breeding or natural selection. I am saying that selective breeding is not going to give dogs wings or an elephant trunk. If they walk on four legs, they wills ALWAYS walk on four legs... get it? It takes a huge amount of faith to look at life and not believe in an intelligent designer. Do you believe in spirits? Do you believe in anything supernatural? Just curious.
I'm a naturalist, I believe that the natural world is all there is, there are no ghosts, demons, god or the devil. You really think thats how evolution works? Do you even know how natural selection works which is the mechanesm for evolution? Do you know about selective pressure? Nice example of that would be the dodo. We killed off the dodo because the dodo was isoloated and had no natural preditors to develop adaptaions, there was no selective pressure...it failed to evolve!
@rogofam Dude!!! Some humans are born with tails. What a fool you are. All human embryos have a tail. The tail is then absorbed into the body but in rare cases, the tail remains on humans. There are two types of tails that humans can have. The first type is the boneless tail and the other is a tail with bones. You said that if evolution was real that some humans would have tails and they do. So you are PRO-EVOLUTION. Thanks!
@T211274 Just because your brain can make you imagine a flying man in the sky is real. Don't justify it saying i found him with my heart. That isn't proof, it is just simply your own delusion.
@T211274 If there is a God, he's an asshole who sits on his hands doing nothing. What's the use in being all powerful if you don't use that power to prevent death and suffering? I've got another good question that you can't logically answer: Why did God make us in such a way that we want to commit sins that will send us to Hell? All of the glory and none of the blame. Sounds like an egomaniac to me. If he existed we would know it rather than believing that he does. Believing =/= Knowing.
@Loctorpse God's station in your life depends on your personal relationship with him. I personally take the stance of the deist, which is what many Christian religions teach, in that God created us and gave us "Free Will." He allows us to chose our own path, righteous or not, and lets us suffer the consequences. He gave us the gift of free will to be tempted with the things of the devil and allow our righteous self to shine. And death is the only way to our heavenly home.
@Loctorpse Firstly, why would he prevent death? Imagine how over crowded the world would be? It's part of life to die. and secondly, that question can be answered. If God had made us in a way that meant we didn't feel the need to "sin", then that's pretty much the same as forcing us to love him. He gave us free will, so that we choose what we do in our lives. His hope is that we will be smart enough to turn to him. We need free will to have the choice to love him, because love can't be forced...
@Loctorpse It's called having faith. If you don't have faith in him, then why should he let you go to heaven after death? The way I see it is, I am not missing out on anything by believing in God. Being able to believe that death is not the end is amazing. And unlike you, I don't push my beliefs on other people, you had no need to post this. It is offensive to other people of faith. You must believe in something, so have repspect for others who do too.
@CantSeeTheStars Actually your missing out on A LOT! Truth for one..living your life NOW knowing there isn't an "after life" is AMAZING!!! It's like being Freeee!!! I love knowing..I love knowing I'm so insignificant in this vast universe...of never ending. That was NOT made by any god. We are who we are because we elvoved into the loving, moral, social, humans we are. The world is still amazing and you, as I, can still be a GOOD person who knows there isn't a god :) It's offensive to think
I think its kind of funny actually. He's saying he doesn't believe in God, yet he's talking to God as if he's actually listening. I think the reason why those people are in the tree is because they were looking for God, the tree is just the base of Christianity. Each person is a different religion. When he destroys the tree he's destroying the idea of religion yet he can't destroy it, that's why the tree is still standing, he's taking his frustrations out on the religion for his own sorrow
@Evulmandood because there's no such thing as conflicting thoughts... you're the mayor of simpleton...! if there's ONE THING I DON'T believe in - it's YOU
@andrewbacon cool? I'm a mayor huh? and I don't get why you capitalized ONE THING I DON'T , that's doesn't add to you being mad, it makes you seem like you are yelling for no reason.
@Evulmandood dude thats the point, hes talking to god in a mocking manner. hes mocking the christians by talking to him, but at the same time refuting his existance in such a way that a mother walks into a scared child and tells the monsters to go away. he doesnt believe, he is mocking and notice in the tree scene everythings happening in reverse, suggesting that human minds and opinions are backwards which is completely true, if god exists whats up with this hell on earth?
@me9601497 very good point. I'll say this and I know it goes off topic but I love the fact that You didn't yell at me, thank you. And I'll agree, I also think that's what this song is about but I don't really understand why Sarah Mclachlan covers it. Hearing this song then hearing Angel, they kind of counter act each other.
i'm confused as why not many are talking about the fact that, according to the description, this is a home made music video by a 15 year old. this is pretty impressive for a teenager's work.
Oi....it's a song clearly questioning existence of God based on the sad state of human affairs. It's prayerful that's for sure but prayerful to who? It's saying "hey if you're up there...my heart's open to you, but you have to do something about all these things that have been happening. since you're not, and since it seems you won't. I don't believe in you." Ya it's questioning the existence of God but its also similar to when someone says "hey man, i believe in you you can do it" but "not God"
Well done video, can't believe only 15! Keep up the good work! You chose a very beautiful song to make a video to. I love the original, but every now and then, a cover comes along that is just as amazing as the original.
She did a good job covering this. Is nice we have lots of versions of a song we can choose from. The original version is not lost because someone makes a cover.
Love the song. Gnoma... the Christians haven't killed as many people as the socialists or communists in just the last 100 years? What's your point? But still, that's not the point. Our tears and sorrows come from man's doing, not Gods. Just because he isn't stopping everything doesn't mean He's not able or apathetic. He's probably wondering when we are going to stop it.
She's not singing to God, she's singing to other people. If I sing a song addressed to Santa Clause it doesn't mean I believe that Santa Clause is real and hearing it.
@147alotus You fail.. so very hard... VERY VERY VERY hard. How do you know it's not an ironic song... or they believe in god but she's saying that he's a sad pathetic god. Which if he does exist he is a sad pathetic god.
@Gnoma2345 It is possible that XTC is writing down the observations of the so-called believers. It sounds like people talking outside of church, just before they go in with a sigh, and well ..... I believe the writer is expressing his observations of the mass church goers. Irony? Hmmmm, definitely, considering he's traveled the world making money by making fun of his audience without them knowing it, as he knows his audience is in denial.
@Lamirande666 Yes Sarah is an expressive singer in general...one of the best things about her in my opinion. I love singing her work (almost more than my own)
Whoever sings this song is using his/her own freedom of expression, something essential for ALL livings and more particularly humans who can be understood y all other in 2010. The churches were the first buildings onto which TIME as clock were available to the people who were too poor to own a watch. In the name of god many good things were achieved and many dreadful thing still do happen. Reactualizing such song is only a good deed for PEOPLE to make their own mind about god.
@PauleQueenie Yea but at the same time more people died than were helped by the "Holy". The muslims havent killed as many people as Catholics/Christians.
covers get the word about. kids who listen to this habent heard of xtc. Its not a bad cover version. Human League get the prize for the worst ever. what a pile!
Man, she ripped off XTC and she still gets air play! That really makes me angry.. that song came out in the 80s and caused such a big screaming up roar that XTC didn't get air time over here in America. That stinks and her version isn't as good as the original.

@TJ37043 LOL Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but she's not the only one to "rip off" XTC. She recorded that song for a tribute album called A Testimonial Dinner: The Songs of XTC that came out in the mid 90's. If it makes you feel any better, the guys that did the Friends theme song also contributed a song. LOL bet Sarah McLachlan isn't lookin so bad now is she? And 1 last thing, you should sit down for this....the album was made with XTC's approval. They even contributed a song to it.
@therealsteamingpile Exactly! As well, the artist is speaking to a deity in which he does not believe. The irony (and struggle of contradiction) is much of the point.
Whenever I want to listen to this song I go to this video. I don't know why the girl is getting chased around a dark city on a rainy night but I think the mood matches the emotions of the song.
@qwerch your wack to push your damn beliefs, shut your mouth and keep them to yourself idiot! there is no way of proving or disproving the existence of god, so dont even try.
@williamskidfears nothing is needed to creat a spirit, we have proof that spirits do exist but many scientists call it bullshit and dont let the evidence out to the public, and guess what the ones who say that happen to be atheists, but many of the ones with the experiences are atheists as well. spirits arent physical beings but they can be audible and you can see them, but theyre not physical unless there is enough energy for contact. but you wouldnt believe this because its never happened to u
@massmayhem12 you're right about just about everything you said, especially that science proves itself wrong all the time. That's science's job, if it's not constantly evolving it ceases to be science by definition. Some people don't have the capacity to understand these concepts, you ever think that there's a difference beetween people and humans? Humans are living creatures, people are robots. Think about it. I've intuitively known these things long before experiences and science confirmed em.
This XTC song back in 89 was so outrageous and unique and its message was so scary to me: because I knew it was right. It made me question everything I believed at the time, and I'm a better person for it. That's the power of music IMHO!
I love both versions of this song, I know who wrote it ,and I think I know why people that think our way love to cover it, Its a beautiful song, nuff said
Dear Sarah: I know you're hurt, especially now with Ash's cheating with your best friend Crystal. You are entitled now to get hissie with 'god'. By the way, how's that coming along?
Well done for 15 years old. Good video, great song (both versions). Think we could skip the discussion on the existence of god in some kids video post. She did great.
"god" this is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! almost as bad as Sarahs cover of this song. Did you hear the original Sarah? This is the same woman that named her haft Indian child "India". Whats the dogs name Sarah? "dog", what kind of car do you have? "car"
I didn't know Sarah covered this song... but yeah XTC's version is better, sorry Sarah I love you singing your own songs but XTC just has such a unique sound
@Iamdustyk Sarah covered it because it was on a album that was dedicated to XTC and their supurb greatness! It is called "XTC: A Testimonial Dinner". If you haven't listened to it and you are an XTC fan you should.
Hahahaha...this is why I cant stand posting comments on YouTube.. people just dont get it...just because you dont write a novel doesnt mean that you dont understand all of the facets... and just because you look beyond the surface of something you are wrong... I think this will be my last... Im moving on with my Life.
to: sandollar foot - no, it's how the video starts. See how bad it starts, she gets all beat up almost raped...hear/feel her hate, because no one is there, she feels even god isn't there to help her ...I'm sure she has lost hope. She runs and there is no where to go, and she hates that. But in the end where is she?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Do you notice how shes talking to God?? She knows that there is a God, shes just angry at Him.. even though its mans fault. Im sure we've all been there. Shes tired of the way life is headed... but, in the end.. Dear God. He is dear, and she addresses Him.
it's a shame that a God given talent isn't appreciated,

The message of God has been consistent and clear, & it is not hard to understand.
The illness and tragedy on this planet can be summed up with one word: sin.
We see it in the disregard.
Disregard of God.
Disregard of others.
Disregard of the planet.
The problems we see in this world are not a reflection of God, but of our disregard.
If we followed the gospel of Jesus Christ, heaven would be here already.
If you really care about this world, repent of sins, study the gospel of Christ & go love.

And Miss Kenney did a great job too...
OK, back to the debate that will never be resolved, and is ultimately a huge waste of time to continue being involved in for any length of time...

Jillian 11 months ago 3
@Jillian Don't be so quick to say that Christians can't enjoy this song and that we should listen to Christian music. It's non-Christians that started this debate. And As a Christian, I still really like this song.
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars I don't say that Christian people don't like this song (I'm not going to talk about millions of people about one peculiar song, I know better than that), but if one is upset about a tune, well they can very easily drop it and listen to something that doesn't hurt their feelings or beliefs.

T211274 1 year ago
@T211274 Tell that to all the people who died in the Indonesian tidal waves. The people who died in the Australian floods and Hurricane Katrina. It will be very comforting to them to know that not only did they die for breaking arbitrary rules that God himself seems to be sketchy on following, but they'll be burning in hell according to your own logic. Thanks..................you dick.
Beethoveniac 1 year ago 2
@Beethoveniac He's not necessarily saying the those who sin are suffering. But when people sin, it can and often does affect everyone else. Hitler sinned, but he wasn't suffering, others were. Do you get what I mean?
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars I guess. But you miss my point. Man's actions can only be blamed for so much. People need to stop giving God credit for all the good without taking him to task for all the bad. That was ultimately my point.
Beethoveniac 5 months ago
@Beethoveniac Yeah definately. People have free will so we can do good. And if I went out tomorrow and helped a blind man cross the road, or if my house was suddenly fixed of all it's damage from the recent earthquakes, it doesn't mean that it was God's doing. And if something bad happens it isn't God. I believe in karma too. I also want to say that I like that you put a capital 'G' for God even though you don't seem to have strong beliefs for him.
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars It's not just about karma though; it's accountability as well. The God that Christians have conjured up has clearly shown that he's equally capable of both good AND evil. But most Christians will only say the good came from God, never the bad. When it's "good" it's God's will...but if it's "bad", suddenly God "works in mysterious ways"; it really gets to me. I could care less about God either way, it's his fan club that ultimately makes me sick.
Beethoveniac 5 months ago
@Beethoveniac Okay... Firstly, Christians did not "conjour up" God. He was written about in a book which is put in the Non-Fiction section of libraries.... We don't believe he is capable of evil, so I don't know where that came from. There are consequences to every action, whether good or bad. And I am not one of those Christians who believes God delivers punishment. When things get bad it is Satan trying to test our faith. It's no fan club, it's a family. Sad you aren't a part of it...
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars
ParadoxAnonymous 5 months ago
@ParadoxAnonymous God created Satan, the person. Not the evil man he turned into. God also created all the murderers out there, but not as murderers, they changed to that themselves. How is it God's fault that babies get raped? It's the rapists fault. We have freedom for a reason. You can't say you don't believe in God then say "Good job protection your precious creations, God". You can't blame anything on him if you're not willing to have faith.
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago

ParadoxAnonymous 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars "Good job protecting your precious creations, God."
Those are the exact words I said at the age of 12 when a man raped one of my school mates. I became an Atheist shortly after.
I was willing to have faith plenty of times, but how can you have faith in something that shows absolutely NO signs of existence? I'm not willing to devout my life to something as ridiculous as religion when it had done me no good in the past.
ParadoxAnonymous 5 months ago
@ParadoxAnonymous And again, he doesn't "allow" these things to happen. IF you had a kid and when they grew up they did drugs and were abusive, would you expect other parents and people in general to turn around to you and ask you why you would "allow" such behaviour? No, because they have the freedom to do so, it's their own choice, and even a parent can't change that. They can just let their kid know they're there when they are ready for help. That's how God is. He is our Father.
CantSeeTheStars 5 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars
ParadoxAnonymous 5 months ago
@ParadoxAnonymous Epicurus rocks! :)
new2ici 5 months ago
@Beethoveniac
I completely agree.
I don't understand why theists don't thank "God" when horrible things occur in the world.
ParadoxAnonymous 5 months ago
@ParadoxAnonymous Thanks. It seems to me theists out there have such hypocritical stances when it comes to accountability. They'll take people to task for what they believe or don't believe; but the second someone points out the inconsistencies and flaws of their supposed "infallible" god, suddenly it's all about "Well that's my faith and what I believe. And I feel sorry for you that you'll never see the light and be saved, etc." If salvation hinges upon half-truths and total lies, I'll pass.

God is a belief not a fact, there is no varifible proof for the existance of god, evolution has tons of verifible evedance and evolution is a fact.

@pbrskater26 actually evolution is impossible, look it up, it has been disproven but so many atheists continue to push it because they know nothing else and dont want religion to be true because they have fought against religion for so long. the proof is all around you, just open your friggen eyes! im an ex atheist, and im sorry but you are living a sad life as an atheist. i dont just believe, i actually know that god is real. take the time to look at your life and read the bible and just think.
massmayhem12 5 months ago
@massmayhem12
But to humer you if there was a god how do you know he did not spark evolution, then let natue take its corse!
pbrskater26 5 months ago
@massmayhem12 On what planet has it been disproven? Because (and you might not be aware of this), this is Planet Earth, where Evolution has successfully survived every test that has been thrown at it (unlike religion, which has yet to provide evidence for anything it says, at all).
If you have such evidence, by all means present it so you can collect your Nobel prize. While we wait for you to do that, I won't be holding my breath.
GGUBoss 5 months ago 2
@massmayhem12 I've read it. The philosophies were kind of cool, but the religion is kind of shit. What makes it worse is people like you who don't read it with the historical context or even read it while thinking for yourself. You probably go to church on Sunday, right? Jesus said not to. Matthew 6:5-6. Congratulations, your religious practice is a joke.
1zalex1 5 months ago
@pbrskater26 It's not like they're incompatible theories. Many "Christians" just freak out about it because their priest/pastor/bullshitter told them it's a lie. They don't actually read the bible. Just the passages they're told to, which omits any context. It's horribly unfortunate.

We are not getting genetically better as a species as evolution would suggest.
rogofam 3 months ago
@rogofam
God did not make each species as as!
pbrskater26 3 months ago
@pbrskater26 A wolf looks like a type of dog to me. There's no evolutionary proof there. I am not discounting selective breeding or natural selection. I am saying that selective breeding is not going to give dogs wings or an elephant trunk. If they walk on four legs, they wills ALWAYS walk on four legs... get it? It takes a huge amount of faith to look at life and not believe in an intelligent designer. Do you believe in spirits? Do you believe in anything supernatural? Just curious.
rogofam 3 months ago
@rogofam
I'm a naturalist, I believe that the natural world is all there is, there are no ghosts, demons, god or the devil. You really think thats how evolution works? Do you even know how natural selection works which is the mechanesm for evolution? Do you know about selective pressure? Nice example of that would be the dodo. We killed off the dodo because the dodo was isoloated and had no natural preditors to develop adaptaions, there was no selective pressure...it failed to evolve!
pbrskater26 3 months ago
@rogofam Dude!!! Some humans are born with tails. What a fool you are. All human embryos have a tail. The tail is then absorbed into the body but in rare cases, the tail remains on humans. There are two types of tails that humans can have. The first type is the boneless tail and the other is a tail with bones. You said that if evolution was real that some humans would have tails and they do. So you are PRO-EVOLUTION. Thanks!

Believing =/= Knowing.

usseryroad 9 months ago
@Loctorpse God's station in your life depends on your personal relationship with him. I personally take the stance of the deist, which is what many Christian religions teach, in that God created us and gave us "Free Will." He allows us to chose our own path, righteous or not, and lets us suffer the consequences. He gave us the gift of free will to be tempted with the things of the devil and allow our righteous self to shine. And death is the only way to our heavenly home.
laurellindsey 9 months ago
@laurellindsey Shut up.
smeltork 8 months ago
@Loctorpse Firstly, why would he prevent death? Imagine how over crowded the world would be? It's part of life to die. and secondly, that question can be answered. If God had made us in a way that meant we didn't feel the need to "sin", then that's pretty much the same as forcing us to love him. He gave us free will, so that we choose what we do in our lives. His hope is that we will be smart enough to turn to him. We need free will to have the choice to love him, because love can't be forced...
CantSeeTheStars 8 months ago
@Loctorpse It's called having faith. If you don't have faith in him, then why should he let you go to heaven after death? The way I see it is, I am not missing out on anything by believing in God. Being able to believe that death is not the end is amazing. And unlike you, I don't push my beliefs on other people, you had no need to post this. It is offensive to other people of faith. You must believe in something, so have repspect for others who do too.
CantSeeTheStars 8 months ago
@CantSeeTheStars Actually your missing out on A LOT! Truth for one..living your life NOW knowing there isn't an "after life" is AMAZING!!! It's like being Freeee!!!

She recorded that song for a tribute album called A Testimonial Dinner: The Songs of XTC that came out in the mid 90's.

@9darkin You do not know what beauty is or love, love waits it is paitent and kind
it never brags or grows hard with pride, and it never doubts anything so you
are so bashed from the world and its views.

Dear Sarah: I know you're hurt, especially now with Ash's cheating with your best friend Crystal. You are entitled now to get hissie with 'god'. By the way, how's that coming along?

Don´t know if anyone of you have noticed but in this video, sometimes the camera zooms in to a cigarette... I don´t know the meaning of it... Do you?

Well done for 15 years old. Good video, great song (both versions). Think we could skip the discussion on the existence of god in some kids video post. She did great.

I didn't know Sarah covered this song... but yeah XTC's version is better, sorry Sarah I love you singing your own songs but XTC just has such a unique sound
Iamdustyk 1 year ago 13

Do you notice how shes talking to God?? She knows that there is a God, shes just angry at Him.. even though its mans fault. Im sure we've all been there. Shes tired of the way life is headed... but, in the end.. Dear God. He is dear, and she addresses Him.
