Wow does the crowd seem dead, Depeche Mode delivers every night and even if you don't know the song, damn, it's depeche, and it's a damn good new song!
I love DM's new record, and this is one of my favorite songs off it. It's especially potent on the DVD version of the album that's included with the box set.
by the way, more people should do this, film those side-panels, provided their camera picks it up well enough - the quality is great. It's like watching an official DVD.
the shots where it shows the people, they're actually just standing there as if they're at the opera. Granted, some are moving a little, and there's not much space if you don't want to bump into someone else, but... this is DM performing the most delicately frenetically beautiful song off the new album. I'd at least be singing the words back at them from the top of my lungs, or wave my hands w/ the music, or bounce up and down a little.
I agree! I went to 3 of their shows, and was disappointed how many people in the audience were just standing there, silently.. Man. i got blisters from all the dancing and jumping )) my throat ached after the show from the singing )) but it was so much fun!! I don't understand how people can just stand there..
Sorry it took me so long to notice your reply. I suppose that is b/c I always keep a youtube tab open in my browser, and it never gave me a noticeable message, until I noticed the little letter icon at the top of the screen.
The reply I wrote is actually so long, I'll try to break it up into several replies, if youtube allows me. Hang on...
Regarding Mode, I actually almost ended up not seeing them this time around, b/c livenation's fees were exorbitant. So, I had to force myself to write it off, but on the day of the concert, I couldn't resist driving by the venue, since it wasn't too far from home. DM were already on the first encore, and people were leaving in droves. I know: WTF?! The guy at the gate just let my brother and me in, and we proceeded to find a place to make our stand. ...
The Ford Amphitheatre (the name is misleading, since it's even less than semicircular) actually has a GA lawn in the back, but the music was way too quiet back there. I was singing so loud, I was worried I'd bother the people around me. So I moved further up front. Unfortunately, even though hundreds of people had left the place, the ushers were still too stuck up to just let you go where you wanted. ...
So, I positioned myself off on side with a dozen other people who must have been fed up being chained to their seats, and danced and sung thru Personal Jesus and Waiting for the Night.
Anyway, long story short, in the Tampa Bay area, and probably the United States in general, we don't have enough hardcore modies who'd take death over seats, and participate the way you and I do. ...
Couple weeks ago, when U2 played to 70, 000 at Raymond James Stadium, it was kind-of the same story, but - you have to give them credit - they still haven't resorted to putting rows of seats on the floor. This left me free to move around until I did find a group of fans that matched my level of enthusiasm.
Man, I really have to watch the word limit here on youtube.
@theEmpyr I think maybe some people just didn't know the song well enough to appreciate it. I had listened to the new album a few times but I definitely did not fully appreciate it until after the show - that being said I am still with you on at least moving to the music whether you know it or not - I wish they were doing another leg in North America :(
Yeah, you're right. That actually happens to me at every concert: There'll always be some songs I underestimate, until I see them live.
And, yes, I'd love for them to keep coming around here, as often as possible, but, for their sake, maybe they should go where they're really appreciated.
Wow, so sorry I didn't reply sooner - I don't get notifications via email! My camera is just a simple little Canon Digital Elph - the PowerShot SD1100 IS. One 4GB card and I'm set for an entire show!
Have you got the full video? If you do, please upload. Thats very rare and the song is even more beautiful live... DM - Masters of the Universe.

Great video, and yes the screens were very clear. However my camera couldn't handle the brightness of it all.
What camera was this recorded with? make? model?
