The Stigma system is used to customize you character without the bounds that have been applied to your class type. Stigama = Unique Characters.

Stigma is used for example to equip your character with a skill, weapon or armor piece from an other class.

Not all combinations and skills are available tho for balancing reasons. And Stigma works with some stones you'll have to find that eache have this special ability, they are hard to find and will be very popular. ATM you can equip 5 stones.

Elyos were only lvl25-30 while the asmo was lvl40.

but it's a cleric, second most heavier armor + heals... shouldn't be that easy even with 10+ levels. The pole hits too much, too fast. I bet with daggers the cleric would have lasted more.

Higher level means stronger attack and defense rate against lower levels. No matter how hard you try to defend yourself, you cant deflect a hit with this level-diff. Same reason you cant raid a lvl40 elite boss with lvl30chars...you just cant scratch it.
