  • @Dreamfullofzen i subbed to u can u sub back and ya if u went to armenia ud really enjoy it there

  • jaan axperes =)

  • barev! I'm imprssed good job got tears in my eyes are you from hasyastan? or were you got it from

  • @yeskessirumen Thanks! I'm actually from the UK, I'm not Armenian.

I got the Duduk from Vache Sharafyan & Gevorg Dabaghyan.

At some point I plan to do the traditional version of this piece (was copying the version from the Gladiator score here).

  • Well, since I'm not familiar with the original music, I listened to this with "Beginner's Mind." It was exceptional, brilliantly and passionately played - your version here stands up on its own hind legs! Very nicely done, DFZ!! Here's your 5 stars!

  • Thank you. Well the playing on the score has some amazing playing, i'm just doing a pale imitation. The original tune has some great versions, especially one by Vache Hovsepian.

  • Pale imitation or not, your playing is gorgeous! It comes from your own spirit, and is thus unique. And beyond that, you are a true musician - the song is lovely in your hands!

  • Well, thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

  • Awesome as always. Are duduks reed instruments, or are they closer to flutes?

  • The Duduk is interesting, because it is a Double reed instrument, but unlike reed instruments which have key pads (like sax, clarinet, etc) you have open holes like the old style of flutes. Some people consider it the armenian version of the Oboe, and i also believe the Duduk is known as the shepards flute, so in a sense it's related to the woodwind family, but not really close to any of them.

  • fuckin 5 stars

  • Thanks Nork. Was a pleasure jamming with you the other day.

  • I hate Hans Zimmer..but anyways, this was a sweet video to watch. How much does that instrument cost and how many octaves does it have?

  • Depends on the quality of the instrument, starts at around 100 bucks, and can go as high 300-400, depending on the maker and where you get it from.

It has a range of an Octave and a perfect fourth, depending on the players technique and the reed...

  • I loved it! Good job!

  • Thanks Bart.

  • My self dear brother, wouldn't care if this was true to the original piece or not...because it is beautiful and perfect.

    Peace-n-Love always

    JP

  • Thanks Man.

  • Well done !

    Steen

  • Thanks Steen. It's still pretty rough, i'll learn how to play it properly next week hopefully.
