I just loaded this program on my laptop Liquid 7. After the install it gave me a code to use in order to finalize the install. I can't seem to find the tab in order to input this code. So when I open up liquid it's a green screen. When I play the sample race car footage I can hear the audio but the video doesn't show up. What should I do?
my computer is connected on my TV screen, so I use avid liquid with a 1280 x 1024 pixel screen. I have a problem! I cannot read some text of the progrmam (most of them) because the characters are too small. only the menù bar I can read! Anyone can help me solve the problem? Thankyou.
So is avid and final cut pro what "Professional editors" use in the movie business? I always wondered because on youtube all you see is people use sony vegas and after effects to edit.
i opened my project and the colour of the numbers at the top of the columns of the "assembly segments" of the time line were all RED. A red exlamation blinks near the rendering icon. The guide says that the files need to be rendered... i don't know how to do. Can u help me? I hope i can save my project! Thanks
@cybraxcyberspace. Thank you for your reply. :) Please make more tutorials on basic stuff. I am going to a tv-station for practical training as an assistant editor, they are using avid liquid. I wanna make good impression, so I can get a job :) thank you.
I can't change the layout of the screen. Like my timeline "box" stays the same size (much smaller than in this video), and I can't change the sizes of the "source viewer", or other boxes. Anybody know how to solve this?
You cannot change it, it is based on your screen resolution. (1600x1200 in the video) the smaller your resolution the less will fit.
You can change the layout by clicking on the eye button on the statusbar.
You can change the size of the source and master viewer by changing the inlay size however it will decrease the viewer windows and will decrease playback quality.
You cannot however size the timeline or other parts the way u want, it is fixed.
Thanks for the tutorial - it is awesome, and showed me a couple of things.
I have a problem, maybe someone can help... I have input two mp3 tracks to the timeline, and when i preview the clip, they dont play. Video does play, however, And when i output it the final movie they play as well. (Yes, the little speaker icons are on!)
Its also limited to your CPU (Motherboard Processor) / GPU (Graphics Card Processor), a lot of effects are indicated with either CPU or GPU, if you for example have an old videocard a lot of GPU effects and transitions can cause troubles
a last tip is to pre render everything but the clip u need to move this will allow for more resources while editing your effect
Slices will turn red if they have a lot of effects or underlaying tracks so it cannot playback real time.
if you wish to move the clip around easier try turning off most off the effects and other videotracks until its good enough to preview or keyframe but not heavy enough to require rendering
turn on all effects when you finally render your completed sequence
At the bottom right of your interface should be a couple of icons with one of them looking like the letter E, if you click on this you can disable the checkmark in the renderview (NOTE: Red slices are ALWAYS rendered ) this option only prevents YELLOW slices from beeing rendered in the background.
Thank you so much for posting this VERY helpful tutorial! I am a broadcasting student, learning Avid for the first time. I have struggled with the program, but your tutorial was very clear and helpful. I really appreciate this posting... thank you!!!
yes there several ways search the web there aswell digital as analog adapters where you place place the lens of the projector onto and a camera or other devices you can also choose the low budget approach and and simply play the movie on a projector and record it with a camera
What a robust program. I am a little intimidated by this, as it looks like a little bit of a steep learning curve. You make it look effortless. I need to use this to make a video from my graduation that I have been wanting to do.
i've saw avid in my internet searches. this is helpful, it looks like a great program. i'm going to have to give it a try. thnx for creating this vid! great work.

record the sound on another device or directly to the cam (try to avoid the build in microphone)
there are also companies that will transfer old reels to DVD for a fee

it's called 'telecine'
A lot of people do it. Check the videos that people put on here.
