I liked it, but the wolves were clearly faking the attacks. Usually wolves are always vicious, in those scenes they were running slowly and kinda relaxed.

8 minutes is way too much time to not introduce a story. so far all I know is that there's a girl with a wolf/german sheperd (not sure what it is lol) who is bleeding and that some people are tracking her. doesn't really pull me into seeing what happens next. I've heard good things about this so i might check out some more episodes

Potential was there, however it fell short of what could have been achieved. Too much the look and plot of the "grind a film" industry that the SciFi channel puts out. The Laura Croft type lead is overdone, but the wolf was well played and interesting, and the hunter seems to have potential. Camera work was too simple, refine the shots, work on editing, and the balance in the composition, and stop the tired cliche and it might be better.

Looking good so far. My only critique is the action is unbelievable. I don't mean she couldn't fight off the attackers, I mean, that it felt choreographed and the hits felt fake. If it was sped up a bit that may lend more weight to it, or, if there was actual contact between the actors.
Aesthetics: Very nice. Good use of color and setting to set mood. Acting: hard to say, since seemed more about showing setting and the fact the character is on the run. Fight choreography: leaves a lot to be desired, but how many fight choreographers do stuff for free or cheap?
Point is, this is a low-budget piece that is done well. It's 9-minutes long, how much character dev can you have in that time. Bad thing about free speech is idiots have a voice as well.
Not sure what you are getting at here. My comments are for this episode and in reference to the comments below regarding 'caring about the main character'. The effort is to be sucked in by the world and intrigue before the character. At least that's the way I was pulled in.
Ill agree with the previous comments about the fighting looking terrible. But my biggest complaint is that I have no reason to care about the main character. For all we know She's an escaped serial killer and those dudes she murdered were police officers that have starving children at home. But the writter sure isnt going to tell us. I do like the looting of the corpse thought :P

I wish they would take the time to adapt a realistic fighting style for a woman of her size. It seems the person who choreographed this was purely looking at style and not practicality. I'm all for women who can kick ass but it wouldn't look like this. The more realistic the fighting looks the more I respect the piece. :D

Hey I liked it, no matter what writers say, to make a good film, there isn't a tutorial or whatever that says how things have to be done. This was quite enough to making a really impressive movie.
As a writer I know that the first ten minutes of a movie are the most important. There simply wasn't enough to keep the viewer in the diegesis. You need more contrast, more conflict, more story; also, In action movies it's important that the actors are in top physical shape otherwise they simply cannot fit the roll She just wasn't believeable.
Who says she isn't in top physical shape? Just because she isn't an American Gladiator doesn't mean she can't put the hurt on a few guys. Plus it's acting for a web series.

I don't believe im being too critical. I am only giving constructive criticism. It's hard to believe that a 100lb +/- girl with no muscles can knock a full grown male hard enough that he spins in mid air. She's an actor she should know better, it's her job to make sure she fits the role. Most actors spend months of hardcore physical training before embarking in an action series. It wouldn't hurt for her to take some martial art classes either.

thumbs up to you man, as a budding story teller myself, the people who wrote, greenlit, and directed need to take a lesson at least in Robert Mckee. There are hardly any beat changes in drama that make this worth finding out where it will go next.
And, if your going to have a 120lb woman taking out men, she better look like she has skill.
This bodes well for a positive future in free online "television" shows produced professionally. Money is of course still brought in through ad-revenue, merchandise, perhaps the selling of downloadable versions etc. The question is whether they are capable of recouping production costs from those sources of revenue. If it does prove to be sustainable, I think the future of this line of media is looking quite bright.

Nice camera, I'd kill to try out one of those! The effects for the flashbacks and title are also good. But content-wise, I couldn't really immerse myself in the story. The action during the "hunt" scene seemed a bit sub-par and compensated by the overuse of cuts during editing. Also, the dog did not seem to share much of a bond with Riese. In that sense, editing it differently would've made it more appealing. A good start for a hopefully successful series, though. Just my 2 cents!

costume design and character appearances are excellent.
TERRIBLE fight sequences - like 1980's or "hercules/xena" level fight sequences.
Also, the exclusive use of very deep DOF gives a look of poor polish.
Interesting presentation, but the premise is just a bit shallow.

Aesthetics: Very nice. Good use of color and setting to set mood. Acting: hard to say, since seemed more about showing setting and the fact the character is on the run. Fight choreography: leaves a lot to be desired, but how many fight choreographers do stuff for free or cheap?
Point is, this is a low-budget piece that is done well. It's 9-minutes long, how much character dev can you have in that time. Bad thing about free speech is idiots have a voice as well.

Not sure what you are getting at here. My comments are for this episode and in reference to the comments below regarding 'caring about the main character'. The effort is to be sucked in by the world and intrigue before the character. At least that's the way I was pulled in.

Ill agree with the previous comments about the fighting looking terrible. But my biggest complaint is that I have no reason to care about the main character. For all we know She's an escaped serial killer and those dudes she murdered were police officers that have starving children at home. But the writter sure isnt going to tell us. I do like the looting of the corpse thought :P

That fight scene was okay but a few parts where a bit overplayed, as in, she had too much pysical kick-butt-ness for her size.

I agree that the fighting looked a little to "stage combat" and not really realistic... Pretty cool otherwise, though.

I wish they would take the time to adapt a realistic fighting style for a woman of her size. It seems the person who choreographed this was purely looking at style and not practicality. I'm all for women who can kick ass but it wouldn't look like this. The more realistic the fighting looks the more I respect the piece. :D

Thanks! Yeah, they don't even look too much alike, now that I've looked up pictures of Ana Lucia (it's been a few years... xD), but the girl still looks familiar... (although I looked at her imbd profile, & I don't remember watching her in those movies or TV shows) Oh well. It's odd but a good thing, I suppose. :3

Hey I liked it, no matter what writers say, to make a good film, there isn't a tutorial or whatever that says how things have to be done. This was quite enough to making a really impressive movie.

As a writer I know that the first ten minutes of a movie are the most important. There simply wasn't enough to keep the viewer in the diegesis. You need more contrast, more conflict, more story; also, In action movies it's important that the actors are in top physical shape otherwise they simply cannot fit the roll She just wasn't believeable.

Who says she isn't in top physical shape? Just because she isn't an American Gladiator doesn't mean she can't put the hurt on a few guys. Plus it's acting for a web series.

I don't believe im being too critical. I am only giving constructive criticism. It's hard to believe that a 100lb +/- girl with no muscles can knock a full grown male hard enough that he spins in mid air. She's an actor she should know better, it's her job to make sure she fits the role. Most actors spend months of hardcore physical training before embarking in an action series. It wouldn't hurt for her to take some martial art classes either.

thumbs up to you man, as a budding story teller myself, the people who wrote, greenlit, and directed need to take a lesson at least in Robert Mckee. There are hardly any beat changes in drama that make this worth finding out where it will go next.
And, if your going to have a 120lb woman taking out men, she better look like she has skill.

This bodes well for a positive future in free online "television" shows produced professionally. Money is of course still brought in through ad-revenue, merchandise, perhaps the selling of downloadable versions etc. The question is whether they are capable of recouping production costs from those sources of revenue. If it does prove to be sustainable, I think the future of this line of media is looking quite bright.

Nice camera, I'd kill to try out one of those! The effects for the flashbacks and title are also good. But content-wise, I couldn't really immerse myself in the story. The action during the "hunt" scene seemed a bit sub-par and compensated by the overuse of cuts during editing. Also, the dog did not seem to share much of a bond with Riese. In that sense, editing it differently would've made it more appealing. A good start for a hopefully successful series, though. Just my 2 cents!
