  • But does it turn left or right?

  • @CognitiveNetwork I believe you've asked this four months ago too. :-)

It can steer articulated, not turn on it's footprint, ....

  • ZOIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @metaltitant :-) It's said before though personally I believe It's one of my Techa's. ;-)

( Believe me I didn't know what a Zoid looked like when I was making this model.

    See also earlier comments. )

  • My girlfriend said that If I purchased one, she was gonna leave me.

  • @CognitiveNetwork Luckily you can tell your girlfriend that my models are not for sale. :-)

  • @MennoGorter Well, as a bachelor student in mechatronical engineering and robot enthusiast, this thing is really awesome and inspiring. But (1) does it turn, (2) is it aunomous and (3), can it be controlled remotely?

  • @CognitiveNetwork Thanks.

There is a third motor in the belly which can make Coyote turn and also can change the angle of sight of the ultrasonic sensor.

So the same motor makes Coyote able to scan for the best way through and turn to that corridor.

There are also two touch sensors covering the head and shoulders in case the ultrasonic sensor misses something...

  • @MennoGorter :)

  • Looks like Shadow Fox from Zoids!

  • speedy little bugger isn't he?

  • looks like big dog, very cool

  • @aerogametk Oh realy?

It looks like a NXT-Coyote to me....

  • um im thinkin imperial walk in my mind, but nice job looks really smooth with the walking :D

  • That's cool. Does the Lego system offer a gyro stabilizer or something like that?

  • @wordreet Thanks;

You can make it with a fast turning wheel.

If you search for chrismaker (gyroscience) on brickshelf you'll find it. ;-)

There are also several third-party gyro- and acceleration-sensors, for example from HiTechnic.

Some of them are even sold on shop@home.

There is no such sensor used in this model.

  • @Thecashflowman It wasn't that easy to build this one.

( If it was there would be a lot more of these on the web? )

I like the build more than the program.

But this model realy needs a program to walk; each pair of legs have their own motor and footloose movements.

And those independent movements have to be synchronized.

That might be an easy job for someone but not for me.....

    At least I did it with 100% Lego's NXT-G.

  • Exelente canal !

  • Kind of looks a zoid.

  • I needed google to find out what a Zoid means.

Personally I think it looks more like a NXT-Coyote! :-)

I always try to be original as possible.

As far as I could see Zoid's do have shorter legs and a lot of armour?

At least I try to give my models looks without weapons and not very agressive.

I prefer to call my style Techa.

    Technics with biological looks.

  • @MennoGorter I realize that but the orange part on the head looks kinda like a cockpit on a zoid. Besides the coyote is one of the best quadrapeds I've seen built with the NXT. :)

  • O.k. thanks HellfireDraco.

If a Zoid reaches 307 Km/H than my NXT-Coyote should reaches at least 308 Km/H with its longer legs. ;-)

  • @MennoGorter lol definately!

  • Thanks!

    ( I did make another slightly longer video of NXT-Coyote. ;-) )

  • It seems to be good otherwise. ;-)

    Thanks for the big compliment!

I'm sure you know this models difficulties.

  • wow this is very good, NXTcoyote it is!

    A+

  • omg make it bigger and it will be like a atat

  • I did my very best to let it it look like something else than Star-Wars! :-)

And bigger doesn't solve any problems.

NXT-Coyote is already very heavy; more than 2 kilo's.....

If you see an Lego At-At you should say; Menno's NXT-Coyote walks a lot faster and, even now, a lot better.....

  • I know it's a short film; during shows I don't have much time to take photo's or video's.

But the main reason is that I have not programmed it to my satisfaction.

( Making the models is more fun than sitting behind the computer... )

The synchronisation between the two pair of legs is not realy perfect, as you can see.

The model itself is good enough, I think.

( To judge the looks: see brickshelf... )

  • very nice walker! the video is a bit too short ...
