That is why I was asking. Was it 40% of individuals of working age in the United States or 40% of those that file taxes? The former wouldn't be surprising considering the 6% unemployment, which means the people of age not working is a bit higher. That number only counts people that file for unemployment, those that were fired, and have been out of the job less that 2 years. Plus students that generally get all their taxes back, and people working under the table.
McCain did look ridiculous in the last debate though it did scare me because the undecided voters on CBS after the debate were leaning toward McCain based off of how he carried himself in this debate, which to me said they didn't pay attention to what was actually. I just understand that they are sideways. Now all would agree on that. Both guys said it would take a decade to fix many of our issues. The next 4 years will be hell for the next president.

That is why I was asking. Was it 40% of individuals of working age in the United States or 40% of those that file taxes? The former wouldn't be surprising considering the 6% unemployment, which means the people of age not working is a bit higher. That number only counts people that file for unemployment, those that were fired, and have been out of the job less that 2 years. Plus students that generally get all their taxes back, and people working under the table.

Yeah when they started putting change in their ads it was a mistep a big one because they needed something of their own. All this Maverick talk may have been a good one for McCain but it wasn't reflected hardcore in his campaigns recently. Here's my straight answer. Barrack Obama has consistently voted for and written up bills that would ban ownership of handguns, semi-auto "assault" rifles, and all semi-automatic hunting rifles. Not to mention a 500% increase on fire arms and ammunition taxes, which are already high enough.
The point was is that if had ever owned any of these it would certainly violate and threaten your rights if such bills ever got passed. Understand?

Though, if you have confidence a home invader could conceal and own a weapon and keep it hidden from the law;; then you should do well in what said confidence had by reciprocating.

Tell me this, how do you protect your self with a club, or even a sword if your attacker has a gun? There has to be a balance of power, never let the criminal out gun the you. A cop told me that when our police force bought 20 M-4 assault rifles. And I refuse to ever bow hunt again. It was a bloody mess, it didn't hit right and the thing had to bleed out. But, if a cop with a police force having 20 M-4's is around, why do you need guns anyway? The chances of a home invader targetting your house is how much? We have a MIXED economy, not socialism or capitalism specifically. Any policies the candidates propose will be carried out within this mixed economic system. It is silly and ignorant to throw around the word "socialism" like everything about it is evil. People who do this just expose themselves as pawns repeating slogans for an opportunistic political campaign. And I am willing to bet that you would be much worse off right now had it not been for "socialist" policies implemented in the past.

If the sentence "Pull your head out," seems to "restore your faith in America's intellect," then your standards must not be high. For one, it's an incomplete sentence. Two, does an opinion differing from others though matching yours on the slightest degree all of a sudden make it a statement or form of thinking one that is superior to others? Granted it isn't the dumbest, but it isn't the brightest, either. Also, "Intellect" is used to reflect a measure of intelligence, not intelligence itself.

My take: Obama looked Presidential; McCain looked "Hall of President"-ial. That is, McCain's facial expressions, wooden-ness, and robotic behavior reminded me of the automatons in the Disneyworld "Hall of Presidents." Throughout, McCain looked as if he was obsessively reminding himself to smile, to look less angry, to get in the digs he had planned, ... over & over. But with that "mental list" look in his eyes & the momentary fake smile, he just looked creepy.

I watched the debate from a tired looking, but solid Obama....and a very angry, rude mc can't. What bothers me the most w/mc can't is sounds so patronizing when he speaks about his recently found knowledge of how 'we the people' are hurting. I love seniors, because they are the history....but there is a time when they MUST give the next generation its natural turn to run things. Less than three weeks to go and this will all be history for me to add to the stories I tell my grandbabies.

What I noticed most was that he was more willing to say Joe Biden would be great president than he was to say the same of Sarah Palin. With her he seemed to be offering excuses to justify his pick. If he had been running against Sarah Palin, he would have bashed her on experience, judgement and ethics.

Obama was eloquent and collected. McCain was nervous, aggressive, condescending, and contradicting. It's clear how the White House would be run with either candidate running it. McCain lacks tolerance and diplomacy. Obama wants to discuss options and is willing to work out differences. McCain offered nothing of value last night. Obama's explanations were vividly accessible. Obama seems to be a genuine person with an admirable and inspiring degree of commitment to America.

We tried that already though, hasn't been working obviously. That's why we need someone who actually will try and be different. McCain will sink this country even further down the shitter than it already is. Anyone, in fact, would be better than McCain-Palin. I'd be willing to say that even Bush would still be better, I mean at least he's just sticking to Iraq. McCain wants to go to war with Iran and Palin mentioned possibly going to war with Russia over the Georgia incident.

Serious question: I don't know much detail about the VP and what s/he is supposed to do, since in Canada we only have 1 PM and no Deputy PM. Is it true that when the President leaves the country, or is unable to accomplish his duties, the VP takes over, or is it the secretary of defense or another such person?
