My ideal is that every community comes up with a committee that reviews on a month basis ..police records! The same way they investigate the criminals or suspected criminals, have a checks and balances system for them as well but by the people (not anyone out for political gain or power but the people they police in the community)come up with rules and switch the committee up every few months to keep them honest. Something needs to change
I could not agree much more. The truth is cops are the most powerful public figures in the nation. The president may have power to send people to kill but police have the power to actually utilize deadly force. Not only should a committee review records but I also believe new officers should have to be approved by the citizens of the community in question like a true democracy would. A change is well overdue.
you take a working class uneducated white man give him a badge and a gun and call him a police officer and people WILL be muredered.
