It's "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Everything in GB is on the British Isles, hence the name. Northern Ireland is not on the British Isles, it's in Ireland, so it is not classed as being in Britain, but instead is classed as being in the UK, a Kingdom covering both Britain and Northern Ireland. Britain also includes Jersey, Herbidean Islands, Guernsey etc.

b) Just because you live there, does not make you an expert on geography. It's not in Britain, it's in the UK. Which, as I've said, is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". If Ireland was in Britain, why would the UK's full name feel the need to include it alongside it's collective name, without including any of the other countries in it?
