Everytime i fly in united kingdom i have a hard time trying to talk cause ive never talked to a british person its hard to understand them over vatsim
@donnchadh5 QNH is the altimeter setting at the moment. Setting the altimeter to QNH gives you height above sealevel, the altimeter needs to be set correctly near airports, on approach etc because actual air pressure is constantly changing. It's like calibrating the altimeter to read correctly, with QNH (most common) it will show height above sea level, so @ an airport at 100ft you will touchdown with the altimeter reading 100 ft. QNE shows height above field so you will land at 0 ft showing.
VATSIM seems so hard, is it easy to get the hang of, i mean im good at flying in flight sim its just all the talking. looks like fun though and another question i have. when flying with VATSIM will you see all the other people using it flying around and is a strong internet connection required ?
Just practice. I think it helps if you get familiar with an area, getting to know the frequencies, SIDs and routes. If you prepare well things generally go smoothly.
Yes you see other planes, which are generated in Squawk Box, or FSinn. AI traffic should disappear and VATSIM traffic should show up in it's place.
the most buy airport i flew into was KLAX during an event during the emmy awards. there were at least 11 different airlines with proably total of 30 planes
Vatsim is more real too because the controllers have to pass exams before they can control on the network and all controllers have a rating starting at S1 (starting student right through to C3 Senior Controller. They also have Instructors on the network and to prevent kids missing about there are always a group of supervisors to remove trouble makers from the network that seem to find it funny to crash planes instead.
Please forgive me if my questions sound stupid but I used to play MFSX about a year ago and the online is terrible, people cant even speak properly and thats why I sold it as multplayer was jsut a joke.
Do you have to pay to use vatsim and can any one use it? and how many people log on to vatsim at anyone time?
honestly sir, i think you made kind of a rough landing there..I think you could have flared it a bit more..or given the throttle an inch more power then a flare to make a smoother landing..but overall good job!
yes, but you should kinda figure it out on your own based on your legs..from that you can anticipate which STAR or SID to take..and sometimes they dont tell you the same one...sometimes there is too much traffic that you would have to take a longer route..then take your next vector as filed
In reality no. You have the SID or STAR in your flight plan. STARs are rarely used expect in a non-radar environment. ATC will give you vectors fairly early on whilst on the STAR
LOL...still does not detect it, i will just use sony sound forge...some reason my fraps dont record my INPUT, by the way i got new channel its FSHighDefinition
Most of the time, the ATC always seem to expedite an aircraft with vectors. If there is no ATC and you 're on Unicom. Pilots have to fly the STAR as best they can or try and vector themselves onto final approach, which ever seems more appropriate, in a polite manner ideally.
It is the uncontrolled frequency used on VATSIM. Which is on 122.80. It is for communicating with fellow pilots you intentions by by text. For example take off and landing. Or negotiating spacing between each other, if there is traffic which could effect your aircraft.
Ah. You see I just started flying on VATSIM and I tuned into it but didn't know wht it was. I had never heard of in in the real world, because I would know what it was if it was real.
nice vid. cant go on vatsim at the moment so missing the cross country flights with real atc. always challenging but really fun to fly in the busy conditions.
because when my engine is switch off, i can hear that sound from the cockpit, when im looking at the spot, and what do swicth that off, only when im looking from spot, and tower.
do you know if i could switch sound of from the cockpit, when im looking from the spot? the altitude callout, and all the thing. only when im looking from the spot, not the cockpit?
Ok I will try this, is their different PMDG 737's because i have just noticed that in your panel, on the MCP the writting is white on mine its orange i know it might not be anything but you know lol :) thankyou
is this FS2004 OR FSX? just wondering because i cant seem to change my panel setup for e.g. the first screen where you have just the flight directer i have the fd, speed, heading and vor all on one screen, how do you change this, thanks
There is a green line in the map mode which predicts the descent. If you want to descend by a certain way point you adjust the V/S and try and get the green line on that way point.
From what I have seen on videos, they use the rudder pedals for lining up on the runway. Most of the boring stages of flight (mid air) use the auto pilot. I would of thought take off and landing would be manual controls, until they are happy that they are on course etc.
QNH is the European way of standardizing the altimeter. A different scale based on millibars , to inches of mercury which is the US standard. 29.92 is = to 1013.25mbs
Nice vid I find it a lot easier to manage the final approach though if you alter the EFIS Mode to APP after localiser capture. Especially when flying at night or in poor visability. It makes it much easier to track the localiser and glideslope path.
hey mate i have 500 h on vatsim my question to you is where do you find the nav1 freq of all the ils runways wich you are landing at. I need to know because fsnavigator doesnt work with flight simulator x, thx bro
Another Ways Either To Get The ILS Charts Or You Can Find Freqencys in the GPS Module By Going To The Button That Says NRST Can Clicking on the Aerodrome You Want Scroll Across To Freq And Scroll Down To ILS!
I find the virtual cockpit more restrictive, for example, I find it difficult to press switches quickly. The 2D VC is modeled very well. 2D is my Personal preference.

Nice video.
What are the requirements for being a controller in VATSIM. Are there shifts or what goes on??

@connellrocraymond
It is a network you log into so you can fly with each other.

VATSIM is totally different its not kiddy multiplayer.
You dont have to pay, and about 900-1000 people can be on at any given time.

Vatsim is free to use, and anyone can use it. There are usually a good amount of people online. If you want more info just google VATSIM

How do you record your voice? What software to record you use? Because I can't record my voice and in-game sounds with Fraps
Makos93 2 years ago
It depends on your sound card. If you have 'What you hear' as a option, it records the everything coming through the output of your sustem.
joolsd 2 years ago
were is the option for 'what you hear'

It will be in skype settings, if your sound card supports 'what you hear'. I have a SB X-Fi Audio sound card.
