I really enjoy watching these Strange Days on Planet Earth videos. I have some mixed feelings about this one though. On the one hand, I like that improvements are being made to help the environment, but on the other hand I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think of fish farms.
"Save a fish, save the planet." It does have a nice ring to it, but in my opinion the best way to save a fish is to not eat it. If there were no fish farms then there could be no problems associated with them.
Indeed, the same could be applied to all other kinds of mass-production of meat through animal farming; chickens, cows, etc. We need an alternative, and a good one; one that would be just as efficient, if not more so, in producing food and contributing to a stable environment, and economy.
I agree completely. Factory farming is a major reason why I decided to become a vegetarian. It's no good for anyone. Deforestation, animal abuse and slaughter, starving masses all around the world and health issues for those who eat meat from factory farms could be minimized or avoided if we found a better solution.
I dont care what people decide to do regarding what they eat. What pisses me off is when they preach to other people about eating meat. We are genetically programed to like meat, becasuse our body needs the protein. The "farms" will never go away, only get bigger, as our population grows.. I'm sure you prefer to shop at the health stores and eat tofu and organic food, but reality is theres ALOT more people who dont have a choice, simply because they do not have the money or resources.
it's not the same as farms, oceans cover 70% of Earth's surface. The concluding sentence is awsome!
