It's not Patsy that is the point. God Rest her Soul. It is her voice. Cline had a great, fantastic even, Country/Blues voice. Rimes has that and more, if she doesn't f**k it up.

With all respect to Cline, what propelled her even further into stardom was the fact that she was killed so young and like any dead artist, her product became gold. Lean has her own style, or she wouldn't be a star. Las Vegas is full of Cline imposters, but imitators don't get where Rimes is.
I don't like this because she slowed it down at the beginning. This is a song about moving on, not mourning. Listen to the Bill Monroe bluegrass version and enjoy the mandolin playing.

This is ok, but I prefer the one from Carl Perkins and Friends with Eric Clapton, George Harrison, RIngo Starr and Roseann Cash. It's a melody that include Blue Moon of Kentucky and it blows every other version I've ever heard out of the water.

i have to agree with montana at least for the beginning of this video. When she switched over to the more classic version, I really enjoyed it. LeAnn has a beautiful voice and oodles of talent. I just wish she could focus on the music and not get distracted...
Technically speaking, LeAnn Rimes has Patsy Cline's range and vocal strength; but she must be from a totally different part of the country or else was NOT RAISED "country" because her intonations, lilts, and just the general overall "soul" of the song is absent compared to when Patsy did it.

Without a doubt this is the best renditition of this song I have ever heard in 56 years of living. Thats my openion and I have been a proffesional musician my ENTIRE life. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Whew! I'd forgotten why Leann Rimes means so much to me, even though I really *hate* Country as a general genre. Nice cover of Patsy, in her own way. :) She has a truly sweet, powerful voice.
This sounds like honky tonk needs more string instruments. She does a good job singing the song. Nice to see someone bringing back the old songs. Many of the new songs lack any attachment to county music and just make no sense. Thank you for doing this. You have earned a new fan today.
I enjoy jazz in fact played in a jazz band at one time. I love Billie Holiday, she is astounding. So, just because I love country music, does not mean, I have not experienced other forms of music. There are some classical music songs that there are not words for how beautiful the music is. Music is ment to celebrate life and rejoice in and savor life.

Any singer worth their salt wants to sing the oldies and keep the music alive. This is a great version except that there's too much echo. That's the producer's fault. LeAnn knows how to sing a song.

This isnt Patsy Clines song...Bill Monroe wrote it in 1942, Elvis did a cover of it too, just as these singers have.

Why is it people start creating competitions among singers? I bet if you were to ask these singers they would tell you they are NOT competing with each other. I'm sure Patsy would consider it a compliment that her songs are still being sung and listened to today!

she did an alright job..but nothing is ever gonna sound like patsy clines voice to patsy cline's music...no matter how many women out there try to be like her..hell i even sing some of patsy's songs,but deep down inside i'll never have the voice like that woman had,..

Shes not trying to sound like patsy. She just did the song her way. Just because she recorded the song doesnt mean shes trying to sound like patsy cline.

She has a truly great voice and has done justice to this song in addition to having the simple good sense to sing it in the first place instead of the musical white noise this passes for country music today.

Whew! I'd forgotten why Leann Rimes means so much to me, even though I really *hate* Country as a general genre. Nice cover of Patsy, in her own way. :) She has a truly sweet, powerful voice.

There's an episode of King of the Hill when Hank, Dale, Bill and Boomhauer form a band and they sing this song. I like the version they did better.

This sounds like honky tonk needs more string instruments. She does a good job singing the song. Nice to see someone bringing back the old songs. Many of the new songs lack any attachment to county music and just make no sense. Thank you for doing this. You have earned a new fan today.

I enjoy jazz in fact played in a jazz band at one time. I love Billie Holiday, she is astounding. So, just because I love country music, does not mean, I have not experienced other forms of music. There are some classical music songs that there are not words for how beautiful the music is. Music is ment to celebrate life and rejoice in and savor life.
