God its amazing to see so many good matches back then have color commentary by Sean Mooney and Lord Alfred Hayes. Such classic matches called by two guys with no excitment what so ever.
beautiful tag match - loved the bit when Hitman makes a surprise attack on Animal and then runs for his life, counting on the ref to save him! and the Foundation pulls the Hart attack out of nowhere! You couldn't find a tag match half as good as this one in the last 5 years...
I love the Legion of Doom/Road Warriors, but they looked lethargic with all that selling. They're supposed to be monsters! They should have dominated the first half of the match, and then made a comeback. R.I.P. Michael Hegstrand
WTF was up with the ending lol? Anvil throws Hart into Animal for a team manuever, but Animal catches Hart into a powerslam, whcih would be alright. Only problem, why did Anvil go along with the ref for the three count instead of breaking up the count?
elbandito100 u must be craziest wrestling fan on earth or stupid or blind pick one lod harts bulldogs make tha dudleys look like the johnsons nasty boys was even a lil bit better then dudleys dont let spots and title wins confuse u partner
Fact is, without L.O.D., there would be no Hart Foundation, Dudley Boyz, Hardy Boyz, Harlem Heat, etc... all those guys will tell you that. L.O.D. were the 1st team to really main event the show each week. You'd buy a ppv to see L.O.D., not the individual competition. And they were ahead of their times. R.I.P. HAWK
LOD carried the NWA from 85-89. They had much wider appeal than the Horsemen or Dusty. I'm not talking about ring ability - just box office draw. You went to the arenas to see them more than anyone.
@SuperSonicHot No, you're wrong. The Harts were long time wrestlers and the Hart Foundation was formed out of convenience because neither Bret or Jim weren't going anywhere in singles competition at the time. The Hart Foundation has a totally different style than LOD. They owe nothing to them.
@willyupshaw No, you are wrong because you misinterpreted what I typed. If you carefully, I said the LOD was the 1st tag team to main event the show. You bought tickets to see Haw & Animal. They headlined PPV's with 80,000 people in attendance. I didn't say the Hart's weren't wrestlers, but I said without LOD, tag team wrestling wouldn't have been the same. Any other team took a backseat to LOD, no matter who they were.
@outshined9981 I know the Hart Foundation formed a few years before LOD. But what I'm saying, is who was the more dominant and legendary team? Yes the Hart Fundation gained popularity, but nothing compared to LOD. They stood out immediately, and instantly became damn near as big as Hogan was in the 80's. No team compare. They kicked asses for 17 years. Even after people split, and main evented each and every promotion.
@SuperSonicHot LOD had as much in ring ability as the Bushwackers by the time they came to the WWF. I do remember them fondly back when Sting and Luger, Doom, and the Steiners were around for them to feud with; Chicago Street Fight style. Vince couldn't get LOD to jump ship to the WWF so he created Demolition. Demolition's reign of dominance lasted MUCH longer and was better than LOD's in the WWF. LOD is all hype, no skil; just like Cena. It's emberassing for the WWE to main event Cena.
@outshined9981 What the heck??? LOD Dominated every promotion they were in. From AWA, to NWA, to WWF, to WCW, to NJPW. Demolition was created because @ the time, here was on WWF LOD, but then once they jumpred ship, they just used Demolition to feud with LOD. The worst thing you can say is that they were all hype no skill. They ARE the greatest tag team EVER, and ANYBODY affiliated with professional wrestling will tell you that.
Good match, cool sportsmanship at the end. The Hardys are a good tag team, but they can't compare to Demolition or the Harts, and the dudleys are a damn joke!
This was a time when Tag Teams meant something in the WWF & WCW/NWA; Nowadays, WWE tag teams mean JACK-SHIT since those teams break up after 3-4 months at a time.
i do every week and i think their tag team division is great. The problems i have with them is the IWGP TT Titles changing hands w/o NJPW's premission, burying lethal consequences, and the MMG not actually wrestling or playing a major role in a storyline. But other than that, its awesome
This was also a time when titles meant something in their business. Before this hot potato style of championships, back when a title was kept for more than a month we got today.
Over the last few years you had teams like the Hardy Boys (7), Dudley Boys (23), Hall & Nash (6), and so on have more titles than many of the greats like Harts Foundation (2) or Bulldogs (1) or Demolition (3), etc.
The singles titles are worse. Triple H with 13 world titles and Edge with 9.
the dudleys outsides n hardyz all deserve the reigns they got they dnt have 2 much n all of them r better than demolition n hardysz n dudles r better than harts n bulldogs
@barrettokarate I agree, i think wrestling has got alot worse in the last 10 years, its a shame because the wrestlers are talanted but Vince has almost turned a wrestling show into a two hour comedy!
@barrettokarate titles mostly always changed on ppvs and that is it. now they got them changing on raw and smackdown. heavyweight title always would change only on ppvs.
@momo0rme According to wikipedia the Dudley Boyz have held the following tag team titles during their careers:
WWF/E (9 times)
ECW (8 times)
TNA (2 times)
IWGP (2 times)
WCW (1 time)
NWA (1 time)
AJPW (1 time)*
Hustle (1 time)*
Technically they‘ve held 25 tag team titles, but I don‘t think they like to count the last 2 on the list. If you add up all the promotions except the last 2 with the asterisks it does come out to 23. And I think that is a record.
At Royal Rumble'92 ~Owen Hart teamed up with Jim Neidhart to take on the Orient Express AND at Royal Rumble'94~ Owen Hart teamed up with Bret Hart to take on the Quebecers...
He was quitting anyway, he had already signed with WCW. IIRC he was supposed to lose at a later match, but Vince didn't want to risk him leaving with the WWF title.
Bret Hart wouldn't have done that to Vince. If Vince REALLY wanted the title off him, he should have just told Bret. "We can't keep the title on you, you have to lose it." Problem solved.
I think that the issue was Bret losing to Shawn (of all people) in Canada (of all places). He had no problem dropping the belt to someone else, or somewhere else, just not there and then.
