  • Fucking mindblowing

  • One of the Baddest Bands to ever hit the stage.

  • fuck happend to the other live version of this song? fuck this version. and fuck youtube even harder.

  • I get teary eyed watching this video because of what used to be so great has degenerated into the Black Eyed Peas lame- ass "Super Bowl performanceand the recent Grammy awards to see what greatness really is just makes you sad for what has left our post- 60's music scene.

  • @TheNewsoul2

No doubt. Compared to what was it's almost like we've entered an alternate universe of of soulless emotion...

  • うわー!日本語の歌詞付きで見れるなんてサイコーです。ウッドストックのとは違うのがおもしろい。それにしても全員ノリノリで、観客席にいくとこなんかはかわいいね^^

  • aahh..they used to tear it down!!

  • Surreal! Some of the hardest funk evah and the audience looked like they were witnessing an alien visitation. ROFL! :D

  • The Family Stone is on the Road AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dates all over the map! Washington DC Jazz festival coming soon!!!Funkin' up the world. Maybe what cosmic Chiken #1 was saying will happen! Ain't nuthin to it,but to do it! ;~)

  • all those people in crowd look scared lol 1969 was sly and famliy stone getting down on ed sullivan show all squares go home

  • Those people looked like they were just not ready for that! LOL

  • i love sly and the family stone. such happy music.

i like to believe that music is more important than most of us give credit for.and that it can play a important part in our development and life style. perhaps if this wonderfull feeling incapsulated in slys music was crated more these days we would reunite more as a comunity.

  • Good point, CosmicChicken.

In the 60's & 70's, music was very important in our development and lifestyle because artists like Sly, James, Stevie and others crafted music that spoke to us & for us and at the same time made us dance.

...And until today's music does that for me, Im'ma keep jammin' to the old school! :-)

  • damn this so good

  • Get a load of Sly's crushed velvet pants - fur boots, crocheted hat . . . lol. Love it. Funk was also about the clothes, and everyone was affected. I still have crocheted hats that my mom made for me in the 70s, from a magazine pattern, and I had the curly-goat trimmed suede maxi coat, platform boots . . never got any of the shiny stuff though. lol There was an inherent prejudice going on even then "you're not black enough to wear that . . " sort of thing. And I think the division started then

  • In order to have true funk music -- you have to have a composer with the rhythmic genius that Sly has. As one musician on "Make it Funky" says "Sly was the buck of rhythm . . . " and went on to say that the "things that went on in his head -- he could re-create on stage, every time."

  • The era of Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Parliament-Funkadelic, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, or Miles Davis was so special. Soul and funk was in style.

  • hey baby, da funk ain't neva left.

as long as da records keep spinnin'

    da funk keep breathin'

  • SO...SO........SO.....H.E.A.V.Y!

  • Jesus Christ They're a hot act, they make you move no matter what's goin down at the time. The world shuts out and its just the music, wicked wicked band.

  • I'm 42 and still think he's the best! Now if only my hair could grow like his!

  • Aw I love this band!

No one gets you pumped like Sly!

He sure looks good too. ;)

BTW, I'm 27 and I appreciate this music as do my friends. Stop stereotyping my generation because there are some of us who know good music. Don't be sexist, racist or ageist please. Just have a Love City and Dance to the Music because we are all Everyday People!!

    :)

  • In order to have true funk music, you got to have a real bass player laying it down. Larry Graham influenced a ton of bass players......

    Death to the sampler, amen!

  • LOOK AT EM PPL still in dey chair i wuda been on ma feet. Sly and the family done their thing harrd

  • AMEN TO THAT!!! Today's music has lost what Sly, James, Stevie and many others had plenty of: Creativity, Originality, Music Knowledge & most of all SOUL!

  • This is one of my favorite Sly videos, and I think it captures the essence of Sly and the family stone fully. I just love how they transition into STAND! at 1:15. The horn riff is so amazing, sounding like a fast moving car honking, cause that baby is flying at full speed!

  • dang sly snd the family stone are off the chain!! great pioneers of funk/soul music

  • Great performance!!! Freddie and Larry got some dance moves. I always love it when

Sly and Rose got into the audience, they are like the hype people and they dance well together. There is a need to love Sly and the Family Stone!!!!!

  • killer drum intro bam bam bam

  • Phew! GOD DAMN ! On fire!

  • From Ed sullivan awesome

  • yes, oh yes

  • What show was this from? This was as powerful as they always come! Thanks!
