since you prefer to shot everything in manual, then how about set your speedlite using manual mode as well? is it advisable? thanks

  • Hello my friend!!! I like all your videos ... They are sooo useful...Great job of you!!! I would like to make a question...I have a Nikon D5100 and I would like to buy a flash....Which is better?Nikon sb-700 or sb-900??Thanks

  • Hey, good lesson, just wondering that hand strap you have looks like something I could use. I always try to wrap my camera strap around y hand but it never works out that well. Can you let me know what brand that is?

  • i had my first shift ever for a nightclub photographer for this club a couple of days ago. u r exactly right, it all depends on the place, but 3 main things u need to focus on as myles said r aperture, iso and shutter speed

  • What's the Best mode to shoot in, TV, AV, or P. You are a very good instructor.

  • @Obosi123 Manual mode.

  • Thanks for your info.Helped me out alot!! I just bought the Canon T3I W stock 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 is II.What kind of external Flash is that in your video.Id like to upgrade from the stock flash that is part of my camera

  • @philgmiami2003 The 580ex II.

  • I've learned a lot from this clip. It reminds me of learning how to playing the accordion. As with most everything, to be really good, you need to practice. Thank you for sharing your love for photography.

  • Thanks you've been really helpful!

  • Great vid man!

    Do u always shot with a 7D?

Im getting a 7D but i was wondering

    Can i take pic of a small group of 6 people @ 3 feet way @24mm on a 7D?

Which lens do u prefer the 24-70 or 24-105?

  • @sharkman0616 Thanks! I do not always shoot with a 7D. I rotate with 3 other cameras. Regarding shooting a group of 6, depends what you're trying to get in the frame. Regardless, you can always move back. As for what lens, I would go with the 16-35mm but between those two, the 24-70.

  • @sharkman0616

Oh man, I'd get a 17-40 or 10-20, remember if you're shooting crop frames, you have to take the crop factor in mind. I got a crop frame, and instead of constantly using a 24-70 (Which I don't have for obvious reasons.) I use my 17-40. A) It's a 24-70 equivelant, B) It's still bloody wide at 17mm even on a crop frame. C) It's stopped down to f/4.0.

Get into some clubs with your gear, and experiment around. That's the best tool.

  • great video! jus a quick question, how should WB be?

as the lights are continuously changing, it gets pretty hard to set a preset or even leave it on auto..

    thanks!

  • @hannsze2212 People have different preferences. Most people I know use auto white balance though.

  • @hannsze2212 In a club, the COLOR of the lights may be ever changing but the TYPE of light pretty much stays the same. When I go into a location I look around and take note of the type of lighting, whether its flourescent, natural or incandescent.

I like to manually set my WB before each job.

  • Great... Very informative and helpful... I think I need to get to club for do some shots... Thanks...

  • Very great video, thanks! I'm getting my Sb 600 this friday and the day after I need to shoot at a party. Should I just use the i-TTL function? Because I don't know how it will work in that short time I guess.

    THanks

  • @135Weird531 Thanks for the comment. Yes, TTL should work jut fine. If you are beginning though, it may take you some time to understand how it works and hwo to manipulate everything to get the result you want.

  • Great video Myles very informative, just the information I needed.
