I have a test for my mass communication class tomorrow on this video, and your video just gave me a break from all the god-awful McLuhan and Bill Moyers videos I just had to watch. I commend you. Great video!
Why would anyone go to jail over a hood rat anyway that sold drugs to his own people? All these dumb asses now have a record for this nonsense and just watch how hard it will be to find employment when on the application you put you were arrested before for a non-driving offense..it won't look good. Ten, 15,20 yrs from now when you are unemployed your rent or mortgage is pass due, you have no money, kids are hungry and you can't get a job because you got arrested for the death of a degenerate.
Please, someone, explain to me the function of deciding to be arrested before the protest?
I understand the willingness to get arrested if the police are trying to stop you from gathering a report and infringing your 1st Amendment rights, or being arrested in legitimate civil disobedience. But signing a document requesting arrest as soon as you show up to the protest? Please, someone explain this.
You make a pretty damn valid point. Sometimes you have to go beyond basic journalism and use the tools at your disposal to really bring an issue to light. Look at Woodward and Burnstein!
Journalists (yourself excluded) seem to have decided that it is their job to fairly present two sides of every story. Yeah it's important to get both sides but it's also important to stand up for truth. Being a journalist doesn't exempt you from this duty, isn't that what journalism is all about... the truth?
Journalist NEVER are 100% neutral or objective. It's just a hoax so we won't filter what they say so hard. I prefer that journalists take a stand, rather than trying to hide behind this illusion.
@janamills There are often more than two sides to a story generally there is more than two ways to look at something. Ever see the movie "He said She said" neither one was correct, both were off on what happened. Woman can say guy never listens, man can say he listens all the time because she never shuts up, both are an exaggeration. Journalism should be about truth but is often about an agenda. Rounded journalism can not only present both sides but sometimes also why both sides are wrong.

Organized protesting? Isn't that a contradiction? It loses all credibility and impact the minute you have to sign papers to protest.

I'm glad there were videos, photos, and interviews. The corrupt justice system can't ignore or get rid of the evidence.
