I loved the theme to the programme, I just played it to my 7 year old son who is the same age I was when i used to watch it with my late mum....the memories....time flies! ......
Lovely gentle tune with that loud drum slam at the start 0:09. It seems to represent a different era of travel. These places seemed so exotic and out of reach to the average 'joe'. It seemed more special. exciting then ,When you could only afford to go once a year if at all. Not like today with easier access to diffeerent air fares via the web. The plethora 'Pack'm in cheap/ bums on seats' style airlines so predominant in today's airline/airport culture.
The 70's were an absolute golden age for TV and many other things..people say don't live in the past as things are better now..but that's rubbish. With less choice the quality was better on telly back then and you had more time to enjoy things. Unlike the rat race we now have where no one has time for anything anymore.
In the 70's you sat in front of the tv with your family and everyone enjoyed it. Now people don't even know where their kids are half the time. We will never see those times again
Judith Chalmers always went to the really exotic locations, while poor old John Carter always drew the short straw and ended up in places like Bognor!
@dunkiep Nah, It's cheaper to have some art student make a computer animation than it is to have an artist draw each frame, nowadays. The cimplete opposite of how things were back then.
I prefer the 1990s theme tune. It was called The Carnival and performed by Gordon Giltap. Does anyone know when the Gordon Giltrap theme tune was first used??
Classic 80's. Shared the Monday 7pm slot with Krypton Factor

That mildly perilous first 7 seconds used to make me feel quite uneasy, when I was really young.

Will we ever again see the day when hand animation is used in an opening sequence?

I used to love watching Judith Chalmers go to places we could never afford. She was good like that.

This was when Holidays seemed so glamorous to me.
The answer to my queston of "When are we going on 'Oliday?" was met with "Suddup and eat ya dinner"
The glamour has gone as everyone can now go cheap, which is good I suppose. I still get told to "suddup" when asking the same question though...weird!
