@7708obmit They are the same - I believe Klein dropped the "EJ Special" name for legal copyright reasons, but the S-7's are based on the EJ signature pickups...
Nice playing. How do you rate these pickups compared to the vaughan pups? Do you still have them in the guitar? Any thoughts? I'm trying to convince myself to get a set of these, but there aren't many demo vids of them. Thanks.
I moved the original J.Vaughan pickups (TexMex) to another of my guitars - they are hotter but not as clear or complex as the Kleins - better for rock.
The Kleins have the clarity of vintage but are strong enough to do the distorted rock thing.
I have another video of me demoing some of my pedals and I'm using this same guitar and pickups, so you can check that out and hear more of what they can do...
Standard Mexican Jimmie Vaughan - the only changes at the time of the video were the Klein p'ups and a graphtec nut. I also buffed the neck to a gloss finish. I've since added a Callaham tremolo as well...
I actually tried recording another vid with my Silverface Twin and even though it sounded better in person, it didn't sound all that much better on the video - cheap web cam I guess...
The current ones I got did not sound good like this.

Could you describe the difference between your Klein S-7 Eric Johnson Special set and the regular S-7 set Klein offers? Thank you.

Sounds good for the rig, any chance of recording through an amp?

Yeah that's what I figured. That rig sounds incredibly good. I couldn't believe it when I was down.

NICE!!! I'm liking those! What are you playing through though? Is it your practice rig or one of your amps?
