@almann1117 The key word there is "dismantled" - he didn't damage anything. Also, it's just a terminal - price is based on rarity for items like this and with a terminal there'll be thousands floating around, if not millions! Nevertheless, you might get £300 from a collector...
I have same looking device, but it's modeled Nokia VDU 7255 and i haven't got keyboard, so how i can send something to the screen of my nokia terminal. It would look nice if i could send some ascii art to its green screen : ) I hope that someone would give answer to this?
Year but thats boring, you should put games on there. I write programs for terminals in visual basic. They send to it from rs232, i am working on space invaders game for it at the moment!
@poopskinTheLiar Yes :) Last year i wrote a full linux based interface for it! It took a lot of time but it was worth it! I think i put a bit of it on youtube somewere!
An interesting device. A german computer magazine mentions the Nokia VDU 180 and 192E, which were clones of the IBM 3270 and 3192E (which were hooked up to S/370 mainframes). The keyboard on this one looks quite 3270ish, while a roll-mode as indicated in the status bar is more likely to be found on ASCII terminals. Maybe this one can do both?

I have a DEC vt420 and the cord that i got with it is a male db25, the only pins on there are 2,3,6,7 and 20.
is that normal for a db25 serial and if i use a db25 to db9 converter will it still work?

you could try to conect it to your copmuter if it has an rs232 port then you could open up the terminal emulator and write things to it!

Cool looking bit of kit. Be nice to get it working under Linux.
wisteela 2 years ago
Why would it be nice to get it working under linux? And any way, you couldent because its not a computer!
But year it is nice!!!
You rock!!
Robobbly 2 years ago
Linux supports terminals. It just needs a host machine running Linux.
And why? Because it could be used in a useful way.
wisteela 2 years ago
Yes, but why dont you just use a computer because basicly your just plugging in a screen and keyboard to a computer that could do much more!
But yes it would be fun to try it!!
Thanks
Bob
