@Ultorif all modern tanks can fire on the move the leclerc has similar armour to most tanks thus making it similar and the leclerc has a 50.cal hmg as its defensive weapon ... so does the abrams and most other tanks the 50.cal is slower than LMGs on the challengers and leopards (facts are helpful mate try using them)
@MrCSloan yes i make 2 mistakes it's the primary weapon who has 120.cal for the leclerc and the abrahams 105 and the primary canon of the leclerc is longer than the abrahams for have more precision and shoot to 5km (abrahams 4 km) and my second mistake it's that the leclerc can't target an enemy more (for the two it's the same) after i don't know ow the challenger is and same for the leopard

I'd chose the Merkava. Israel has some of the most experienced tank developers (post war) of any country on earth. The survivability factor for the crew is what beats the Leopard, A skilled Crew is a lot harder to make than a factory standard tank.

I am with Leopards 2 in Swiss army, and yes they are good tanks. Extreme precision, rapidity, Leopards can go under wather and don't care about toxics, but anyway, i don't know the others tanks. (I work mainly in CV 90)

@11binf9 - The Challenger 2 series is also used by the Oman army, where it has seen excellent service! The C2 in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan has seen excellent service with the British Army! It has superior armour, weapons & targeting technology, better trained crews - only one friendly fire incident compared to more than a few by US tanks! The C2 is a proven tank with no combat losses and no FF losses! The US is not the best at everything as 10 years in Iraq/Afghanistan proves!

@11binf9 - Let me correct myself; the 8th army defeated Rommel with out US support in the form of troops, naval or air power. However, there were a small number of Sherman tanks used. But for the most part the battle was won using British equipment (not inclusing the Thompson SMG). The desert campaign was the first place Sherman's were used by the British.

Ever noticed that the Russians say T-90 is #1, the Germans say Leopard 2 is #1, and the British say Challenger 2 is #1 even though the Abrams has experienced far more combat than all of those tanks combined? The M1E3 will get you something, as they only have the turret prototype which include all the technology in previous versions, a autoloader, and lots more, and the XM360A1 gun. You don'tt take into account sensors, crew, the capacity to fire in movement or not, the difficulty of maintaining, and especially, the real efficacity on field. Because half of the tank here didn't have already shot at a real target in real conditions.
lol. Russia's own head of defense recently trashed the T-90, which is a minor upgrade to the T-72, a 40 year old tank. The T-90 is completely obsolete in modern warfare and is well known for it's incredible vulnerability to turret explosions (because the ammunition is kept openly, with hardly any safety measures, in the turret and hull, right where the crew is).
i doubt that you have any knowledge of Russian tanks other than the "turret explosion" stereotyping. A T-90 is not just a minor upgrade to a baseline T-72, it's a rebirth pretty much. Just look at the numerous variants of T-72 tanks, from T-72-Ural to T-72B to T-72BU(aka T-90), and what sort of improvement each has upon its predecessor. And I do have concerns for you maths skill: the first T-72 was fielded in 1979, how is it 40 years ago?

@AtomicFreerun The Abrams has actually seen a decent amount of combat though....over a decades worth to be exact. The Leo 2a6 may be a beast on a closed course but I don't remember seeing any of them in the narrow alleyways of Fallujah or the IED infested roadways of Bahgdad, Ramadi, Mosul or anywhere else. Being proven on a test course and being proven in combat are two different things. No doubt the Leo 2a6 is an amazing tank but I value experience a lot more than anything else.

@AtomicFreerun I honestly don't think there really is a difference between the M1A2 and the Leo 2a6. Both utilize such a high degree of automation and complex data and computing systems to accomplish their missions. My whole Army career has been on the Abrams, both as a mechanic and a crewman. I think the Leopard improves upon the template laid down by the original M1 and the M1A1 from the early 80's.

I'd chose the Merkava. Israel has some of the most experienced tank developers (post war) of any country on earth. The survivability factor for the crew is what beats the Leopard, A skilled Crew is a lot harder to make than a factory standard tank.

@11binf9 - The Challenger 2 series is also used by the Oman army, where it has seen excellent service! The C2 in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan has seen excellent service with the British Army! It has superior armour, weapons & targeting technology, better trained crews - only one friendly fire incident compared to more than a few by US tanks! The C2 is a proven tank with no combat losses and no FF losses! The US is not the best at everything as 10 years in Iraq/Afghanistan proves!

@11binf9 - Let me correct myself; the 8th army defeated Rommel with out US support in the form of troops, naval or air power. However, there were a small number of Sherman tanks used. But for the most part the battle was won using British equipment (not inclusing the Thompson SMG). The desert campaign was the first place Sherman's were used by the British.

@andrea960107 The M1A3 isn't even prototyped yet. The M1E3 will get you something, as they only have the turret prototype which include all the technology in previous versions, a autoloader, and lots more, and the XM360A1 gun. The first ones will start rolling in 2014, and full production in 2017. It will serve through 2050.

Hum. A list based on only 3 points. It's a little light. You don'tt take into account sensors, crew, the capacity to fire in movement or not, the difficulty of maintaining, and especially, the real efficacity on field. Because half of the tank here didn't have already shot at a real target in real conditions.

lol. Russia's own head of defense recently trashed the T-90, which is a minor upgrade to the T-72, a 40 year old tank. The T-90 is completely obsolete in modern warfare and is well known for it's incredible vulnerability to turret explosions (because the ammunition is kept openly, with hardly any safety measures, in the turret and hull, right where the crew is).

i doubt that you have any knowledge of Russian tanks other than the "turret explosion" stereotyping. A T-90 is not just a minor upgrade to a baseline T-72, it's a rebirth pretty much. Just look at the numerous variants of T-72 tanks, from T-72-Ural to T-72B to T-72BU(aka T-90), and what sort of improvement each has upon its predecessor. And I do have concerns for you maths skill: the first T-72 was fielded in 1979, how is it 40 years ago?

I have word from a tank commander that the Abrams, Challenger and Leopard are roughly on a par but the Leopard edges it :)

@AtomicFreerun The Abrams has actually seen a decent amount of combat though....over a decades worth to be exact. The Leo 2a6 may be a beast on a closed course but I don't remember seeing any of them in the narrow alleyways of Fallujah or the IED infested roadways of Bahgdad, Ramadi, Mosul or anywhere else. Being proven on a test course and being proven in combat are two different things. No doubt the Leo 2a6 is an amazing tank but I value experience a lot more than anything else.

@phillyslasher ofcourse thats true i just said that because i've been a commander in the 2a6's .. but i love the abram, it might be a little bit older but it proven itself in afghanistan.. still want to ride on one of that beasts..

@AtomicFreerun I honestly don't think there really is a difference between the M1A2 and the Leo 2a6. Both utilize such a high degree of automation and complex data and computing systems to accomplish their missions. My whole Army career has been on the Abrams, both as a mechanic and a crewman. I think the Leopard improves upon the template laid down by the original M1 and the M1A1 from the early 80's.
