  • awesome band!!

  • They killed it! Damn.

  • weird tone for the guitar, not as good as the recording

  • They have a female bass player now. Am I right?

  • @king3s3s I'm pretty sure that dude's just really effeminate. I got tricked for a few minutes when I saw them live recently. If I was a little more on the fence on the whole heterosexuality thing, I'd have huge hots for him.

  • @Dorkus1218 the bass player is clearly a guy. he's had short hair for a couple months now.. if you saw tame impala recently, how could you think he's a girl?

  • anycolouryouwant - Kevin pretty much recorded the album on his own so he plays every instrument on there like some amazing dragonfly. Ive actually got no idea why Nick and Dom switched, but i know that Jay plays guitar for their other band pond, which Kevin is the "hired gun" for.

  • I'm glad some people are shooting videos during the concerts so I can see it on youtube. but i don't get it- why you're going to shows ? to make a video? I personally can't imagine myself standing in the front of the stage with a camera in my hand. where is your blissful dance to the music with your eyes closed??

  • @AHAgrrl I review gigs for my blog, so it's all for that. and as much as I am "standing in front of the stage with a camera in my hand" taking photos, videos, notes etc.. yeaaah I'm also doing the other thing too. I mean hell 1-2 songs on video, leaves the rest free to space on out :)

  • Yes moron.Sometimes...at concerts..there are people..hired by the band...who specifically take videos or pictures.

  • sexy kevin plays drums for a band called pond

  • These guys have come so far since then!

  • Does Anyone know what kind of drums and symbal Kevin is using? I cant get my kit to sound like thatt... I want to tho. Anyone?

  • I don't know much, but what they like to do is have the drums as tight sounding as possible. Tuning, and pieces of tape on the bottom skins of the toms will help to do this. Also in this video they've even put pieces of tape on the underside of their ride. They love ludwig also which has an oldschool sound, but i've seen them play other brands. Coated/textured skins give a warmer tone and more oldschool sound :)

I'm not a pro tho so ask a guy in a music store. tame impala rock my socks

  • haha how can they see what they're doing with all that hair in their face. they're still hot though and the song is still crazy good

  • This is so awesome........It's like Cream all over again.

  • where is the drum solo?

  • @Guitarmanmrgp i know i wanted a drum solo too haha

  • Cool!!! great band!!!

  • is this at jive in adelaide?

  • @rondoliomercutio Heck yes it is.

  • @r00bii dude. i have actually played a gig on that stage myself. this excites me muchly

  • @rondoliomercutio I hope you worshipped the carpets they jammed on.

  • @r00bii pfft... these guys are good, but definitely nothing worth worshipping.

  • @rondoliomercutio You're on drugs.

  • @r00bii ahhh not at the moment, and i wouldnt imagine i take anymore than the guys in tame impala do...

  • good band but I can't sense any charisma

  • They arent doin bad concidering in this video they have all swapped intruments. The guy drumming normally plays rythm, the dude on bass is the drummer, and the rythm guitarist is normally on bass. They really know their songs.

  • cant wait to see these boys at BDO

  • check disraeli gears/cream, you wil find your origins....

  • excellent and it takes me back , sounds like the music in the 70's, thats a big statement from an old person, dont knock it....lots of cream and other brit bands there...

  • cream was the first thing i thought of when i heard this haha.

  • soo true

  • I thought of the Beatles when I heard Tame Impala. Almost everyone I know says 'Is that the Beatles?'

  • i love improvised psychedelia

  • fuck yeah, theyre playing trackside

  • Far out man, singer on drums bass player on guitar drummer on bass these guys are so fuckin cool that they can pull it off with them totally reshuffled rough and ready but fuckin wickedfall the same.

  • @GissleGoss

I remember Nirvana did a similar thing in the studio once, that was a pretty cool video.

Not something many bands try though.

  • @GissleGoss only kevin and jay switched. dom always plays guitar, and nick always plays bass.

  • @Chacha5678 around this time Dom played bass instead of Nick

  • seeing them in september! cant wait.

  • yeah, coming to adelaide in september...

  • ... october 17

  • wtf they look about 16... how do they make the playing musicals so good?

  • every time i have seen them live (which has been like 5 times over summer lol) they have been awesome fun to see, and they are getting better and tighter each time.

i think that they switch because they wrote this song about 4 years ago and half the band was different then, so they don't feel like it is their song very much. at least that is the impression i got from their drummer when i was talking to him at southbound about why they weren't playing it at all. pretty cool

  • Hahah they've all switched around, what's with that? Haha! But still, ahhhhhhhfdkslhfs I love them

  • a couple of weeks i went and saw a gig made up of some of tame impala, the silents and ponds members. it was cool jay (tame imapalas drummer and guy playing guitar in this vid) was on guitar and singing, and that big hairy guy who plays in pond was drumming. it was pretty sweet.

  • people say they are shit live... im yet to find out ... wana go to a gig ..

  • same here. to see for myself

  • Hmmm, I saw them live at southbound... They were really nothing special. I think the main gripe I had was their Psychedelic jam out... sure it is cool... it you're a gigantic band.

But I went to see them play their songs, because me and my friends can jam out...

    But that's why I think...

  • that made absolutely no sense

  • are you kidding?

    they are fucking amazing

  • esta bien chido wuuuuu1!!!!

  • wtf im confused, still good

  • lol yeh wtf

    drummers on bass

    bassist on guitar

    guitarist on drums

    :S

  • why is kevin playing drums?

  • every other song he's up on mic, but for "half glass full of wine" (at least the two times I've seen them) they swap instruments like this.

  • That's bizarre. I saw them yesterday and they didn't swap... I think...

  • when i saw them in london they didnt swap... intresting

  • @Spozdude I saw them last night, and the setup was how it usually is for this song. It'd be pretty weird if it was swapped like this though.

  • @Spozdude i come now from a concert of tame impala and they don't swap the instruments. what a pitty. but it was a very very amazing concert. i love them

  • @anycolouryouwant kevin plays eveything on there first album he is the one that recorded most of the instruments.

  • @anycolouryouwant

coz kevin is tame impala its all his stuff ... he writes nd plays drums keyboards bass guitar and sings his a mother fkn freak.....they re all good musicans that can play everything... check out jay nd nicks band called pond

  • Heard this in the car on Radio 1 and was blown away. Sat on the drive until the song had finished and then got the computer out to find out the bands name. Derivitive of so many psych bands but still cutting it.

  • love this clip; nothing better than a crowd recognizing a great song then it being performed so brilliantly.
