@b68dv The gravity on the object was Fg which is equal to Fg= mg or mass*9.8. To find the y component of Fg you use
Fgy = FgCos30 because you have the hypotenuse and angle and need the adjacent. Since Fg = mg then
Fgy = mgCos30 = 5*9.8Cos 30 = 42.4N
