If I don't use Rekordbox, will I still see a track waveform on the CDJ's display when I play with SSL or do I have to have the tracks overviewed by Rekordbox in order to use this feature with SSL?

can you use rekordbox as a sample editor and save each individual samples and their own files? and also do you need to have your computer connected at all times in order for the cdj's to remember your presets or does the information somehow save on the usb stick?

@hoyaguy09. I'm not completely sure if it's compatible with other cdj's or not but I think it's only the new pioneers. to correct myself, it's not exactly like serato, but basically as a virtual dj program, rekordbox should cover most of what we would need. And to add a comment for all the 'virtual dj's' out there using serato or whatever.....you still gotta know how to mix cause eventually your gonna get checked on it and a real dj knows a real dj.

to all you people complaining about the price... STFU!!! yeah they expensive but you don't have to buy them. Rekordbox is free software so install it prep your tunes and then when you play in a venue that has 2000's, 900's, or 850's all have to take is a USB and some headphones. You don't need to own them. practice at home with normal CDJ's or vinyl or whatever you use.

hmmm all these new features are standard with TRAKTOR while all this editing and preparation is so much more comfortable to be done on a laptop. IMO the 2000´s are simply way to expensive...but that´s just my 2 cents :)

If you have a large quantity of tracks, the search freezes your computer and sucks all the CPU %. I installed Rekordbox today to prepare my library for use with the new CDJs, but I was unable to search for anything.

Whenever I tried, the computer just ground to a halt and I had to exit the software.

Pioneer are aware but have not fixed it.

cdj 2000 does not save tag file list so the aid for a computer in the dj box still remains if you want this feature. says in the manual tag list is erased when device is removed from the unit, anyone know a way around saving a tag list on the unit via usb sd ??????

I think you can't compare Traktor mith Rekordbox!

Traktor ist a complete live controller, so there is no need of Hardware using Traktor...

Rekordbox is just to Drag&Drop songs to your Players (so you don"t need CD's anymore) AND to set Cuepoints of optimize Loops, etc...

Thats why you won't find a crossfade or pitch there.

All the interludes and mixing has still to be done on your hardware mixers and players...
