And my first guess at the entrance was the lookout place above the square. Because if you want to go somewhere secret, a place that give you a good look around to check if somebody is following you is perfect. Took me long time to notice the confessional.

@Dilandau3000 Maybe it isn't a glitch! Maybe... uh... grace randomly got $100 and went and bought it back while gabriel was gone, since she was so attached to its mood of happiness.

That knothole is such a throwback, I had forgotten about it entirely. I'd probably get stuck trying to find the honfour at this point in the game. And I guess that means there are multiple snake rods for all those cult members. Whoever makes them must be raking in the dough.
