This is what LWB 4x4's are best at. Any decent LWB 4x4 could do that, especially with lockers (LSD's might be better on that surface, perhaps...)

A 1980's Toyota Hilux with rust holes in the floor so big you can see the rocks below you would've done that just as easily.

My modified Suzuki SJ, with it's tiny 80" wheelbase and lifted suspension, probably couldn't make it without a suckdown winch to lower the front suspension and give it a better COG.

But climbing is what LWB does best.

I admit it is quite steep, 45° but the landrovers are capable of such a feat. As you can see. Now, the way it is filmed, it does look steeper then it actually is especially when the camera is on the top of the hill with the landrover coming up, but it still shows you what a good car can do in the hands of an equally competent driver.

I assume it's a fake. Look carefully on the grass on 0:20-0:25. Especially on 0:24 you can clearly see it's growing "wrong". The trees in this video are not straight ones, so it's hard to use them to clearly define ground angle.

With regards to my comment on the impressive technology, it is in my opinion, that for a factory equipped vehicle tackling that steep of an incline is impressive. There are a lot of off road vehicles that would not be able to do that, as I am sure there are vehicles that could do that and much more.

@390merc65 Sounds about right. I find it hard to believe that the rover in the muddy lot was having so much difficulty, regardless of seeing the other one ascend that steep incline. Could be one of many different factors. Drivers lack of knowledge or experience, poor tire choice, wrong driving mode, etc. You are right when you say that witnessing it first hand would be the only way to know for sure. Maybe go rent one and put it to the test. I would but where I live you can't rent a Range Rover.
