the house wasnt a mobile home, it was build with ecoblocks. they walls were solid concrete and the people were in the house when it hit. i myself was sitting on my porch 500 yards away while the insulation from their ceilings were thrown against the walls of my house.
Those are the guys that claim to be chasers but only make chasers look bad. That thing never should have been chasing them. They should have taken an alternate road and gotten behind it so it would then cross in front of them instead of them running away from it.
Yeah, but we all know that tornadoes are very much unpredictable. If it shifts in your direction, not much you can do about it but find cover or get out of the way.
I'd start by having a panic attack, shitting my pants, screaming bloody murder then hopefully pass the fuck out. When I wake up I hope I'm far weay from that!!!
If I saw something that gigantic swirling around and it was that close... I'd be frozen in place, trying to capture every single second on tape! Just incredibly awesome!
Id give my life to see one these things up close and personal crazy tbh but true love them one of the most wicked forces on this planet and an amazing thing to behold.
this is fairly common in kansas. i live in wichita and it's been awhile since one hit here but i remember the andover tornado(right outside wichita) and haysville. there was debris found 50 miles north of haysville.
i've been in two kansas tornado's with two children belive me this can get you dead if you don't know how or when to seek shelter don't play around with fire you may get burnt.
I live in Topeka, I've only had the chance to chase a few tornados northeast of town around Lake Perry. You guys have some balls staying that close to it like that, although, I'd be driving a hell of a lot faster on those backroad two lane highways if that son of a bitch was coming toward me.
Hehe wow those are the days huh...I fell in love with tornadoes at the age of 10 as well...i'm 20 now and tornadoes still fascinate me. If you stay with it it could turn into a high paying career when you grow up.
No, you can't. It is an expensive hobby, and occasionally, you can score good footage that the networks will buy. Main problem is, there are hundreds of people that do this now, so getting rare footage is not likely anymore, so the going rate for that footage goes way down. It's fun and beautiful to see. I've never done it for the money, and my bank account shows it. LOL.
@skivy01 Wanna know something really funny what you just said is the same as me at age 10 when i saw twister i knew i wanted to be a tornado chaser when i grew up
Actually jperro, it hit the house and farm dead on. Please visit my site, Stormguy dot com, and go to Chase Reports 2004, then select May 12, 2004. There are still captures of it. Not much left.

what town was this?
thevintagegoth 3 years ago 2
@thevintagegoth: We get a few more twisters here in north central Texas, but we haven't seen much action lately........
Which makes me wonder if we're going to get a terrible surprise in June and/or July.
I really wouldn't be surprised if that was the case; nature has a way of rebounding and biting us in the ass.
