  • excellent instructor, way above average, nptelhrd is an ubergeek university, I want to go there and learn, thanks to everyone at nptelhrd for these great lectures, peace Y

  • thanx Prof. Kumar, come teach @ my university for god's sake!

  • Cant hear what he says

  • @HisMight1 You do realise that electronic engeneering represents knowledge of computers at the highest level. The manipulation of logic and its design.

  • @CronosXIIII

You mean lowest level, abstraction wise?

  • @valveforlife Discounting abstraction levels, engineering is mainly the hardware side of things, which as I said is the physical design of a computer and its parts (ie processor ect). Computer scientists work with programming languages that are build upon the hardware created by the engineers.

  • @HisMight1 and you're a faggot for leaving such a gay and unjustifiable comment. You're probably some 14 year old faggot who plays video games all day. Show me that you know about computers instead of talking shit. Okay little faggot.

  • Thanks a lot this is great ..... Hats Off to NPTEL

  • which is better a computer scientist or an engeenier?

  • @AL6025 computer engineer man....its better...computer science jobs are few

  • @fozinto1

but engineers dont know too much about math...

  • @AL6025 both i.e. computer engineering. That's my major.

  • @AL6025 Computer scientists are more programming oriented. Therefore you would be participating in software design. A computer scientist may also work with the simplification and optimization of algorithms to speed up computers via software. Engineers are more involved with the actual physical makeup of computers, for example the logic gates that compose the processor or the ALU within a computer.

  • audio is not audible

  • THANK YOU FROM A SILICON VALLEY ENGINEER

  • This is the best computer architecture lecture series. Thanks to NPTEL and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for making this available.

  • Michael Scofield`s mentor

  • thanks a lot for video uploading.

  • Well I've watched a good few of the Indian maths and computing lectures, and they've all been normal and properly informative, don't understand who'd have issues with information being conveyed in understandable ways?!

They're probably too used to jump-cuts and flashy substance-less performances, are the folks complaining here.

It's a lecture, it's not some whoop-clap TV studio audience.

  • @MannySteinerBIeeky But there wasn't even a car chase or an explosion!

  • @josepheath - most of those in the movies are so boring thesedays anyway, I only end up renting or watching them cause there's nothing else on but even worse junk.

  • Anyway, thanks for uploading this lecture video which could be beneficial in some way for the beginners. Albeit, it is worth mentioning that, they (Indian Professors) have better knowledge of information technology concepts, but their methodologies of lecturing is of poor standards in comparison with Cambridge or Oxford Universities.

  • Very nice lesson. Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you. I have just recently been given a task by my company to head an investigation into the cause of performance degradation, introduced by badly written software running on the new AMD Magny Cours 12 core architecture. I have just watched this video and I believe your lecture videos will give me the necessary information in understanding processor and memory architecture and management that will aid in my investigation. I will also be interested in seeing what your ideas are on NUMA?

  • great stuff! :-)

  • Go with it. Indian lecture styles are usually THIS way only. We are more focused on learning and the end result than fun.You clearly have no idea whom you're scolding. He might not smile much or do gestures , but he's a genius and he knows his subject very well.

  • Wouldn't it be nice to have teachers that speak as clearly as theamazingatheist?

  • @diamonddragoniori I assume then that this is a serious lecture for serious people.

  • @ganeshanI1 lectures are always serious business......its future minds left in charge of this idiot......he has to wake up and realize his responsibilities soon.....

  • @diamonddragoniori How can you say that his students do not benefit from him. It all depends on individual psyche. Remember that this is one of premier institutes in the world.

  • @ganeshanI1 THIS is supposed to be some premier institute?......you call this WHAT?!!?......either your trying to kill me by making me laugh too hard....or your that stupid and have a VERY warped idea of what is premier quality is......

  • @diamonddragoniori : Take a look at this video id on the same site: LGIgJWvt6fw. You may want to reassess yourself.

  • @diamonddragoniori bhag sale chutiye

  • Can't hear you mate can you speak up im sittin at the back of the classroom....

The extra long introduction was more like Dallas i'm not interested in "excellent indian school of IT computing in the excellent city of bangra music thank you please"

  • Most of the IIT lectures are so boring.

I mean look at the teacher, he's sitting on a table, with absolutely no gestures, no good facial expressions (he rarely smiles), lack of energy and no sense of humor.

I believe these points are very important.

  • everyone should see it as an introduction of Computer architecture

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Is there any difference between computer organization and computer architecture ?

    ...please answer this question ...

  • @MrBoorla When you study hardware from the User's (or programmer's) point of view, it's Organisation. When you study the same thing form the designer's point of view, it's architecture.

  • thanks for uploading this man, i've got a comp architecture exam in 12 hours

  • Can't help myself but whistle along with the intro... lol.

  • NO AUDIO! JEEEZUZ!

  • Great intro to computer architecture. Many thanks to prof and nptelhrd for sharing. (for those who could not hear the video very well, put some headphones on - it's much better that way :-)

  • How to download the video?

  • @akshayjain561989 orbit downloader

  • thanx.................

    sir..............

  • Where can I get the powerpoints notes in your lecture. thanks

  • he doesn't know the full form of PCI??

    it's peripheral component interconnect

    NOT periperal computer interface !!!!!

  • @neolife2010 human error you bitch nigga

  • This is excellent but just a minute in and he lost me when he started talking about programming. What set of videos should I watch first so I can understand this?

  • Bakwaas lecture

  • i m unable to either listen it or download it pls smone help me out

  • I am very interested in the lecture, but I can't barely hear it.

  • Hi, great video but audio volume is too low, and can you make a play list, so that people can navigate easily.

  • like the video...but the audio ..is low...

  • can some one help me, i am doing my course work and one of the questions is:

    Write Z2 which is (1011 1011) using 1s complement representation in a 16-bit length.

i seriously dont have clue how im supposed to do this, would really appreciate it if some1 sends answer and method,

    thanks

  • @786Ykhan

    16 bit representation

    0000 0000 1011 1011

    1's complement in 16 bit

    1111 1111 0100 0100

  • very wonderful video.Helps to understand the basics of computer architecture. Thanks a lot for the wonderful video.

  • Very poor low audio.

  • soo quiet

  • PCI is Peripheral Component Interconnect

  • The introduction to this vid is amazing. 5 Stars.

  • @starclopsofish haha funny that you mention it, my mother used to sing this song live. i dont know what the song is called

  • @starclopsofish You're being sarcastic right?

  • Thank you very much for posting this wonderful video on computer architecture. This helps people not able to join IIT to get a clear and correct understanding of computer architecture. Thanks a lot.

  • nice info

    but too slow

  • nice info

  • thank you well explained

  • Thanks.. Nice info..
