I've never heard of tuning a cello anything different to CGDA....why change it?

actually, yes, you can change the tuning. there is this one piece that uses the tuning: (high to low) G-D-G-C and then there is fiddle tuning, more commonly used for the viola, G-D-G-G. i forget the exact names of these tunings, but they exist, as well as many more.

it's fun to change the tuning!! i'd do it all the time, but im afraid my cello's strings would snap; i had that problem on my other cello before.
