I'm not bashing or something. But I believe pixels don't interact with each other the way quantum particles do, this doesn't sound like a legit comparison to me..
@sk8shred If your an Atheist then why dont you kill yourself? What is the point in living if you die and have no memory of your life? Absolutley pointless!!!
@BetroS83 Because why not?? Im aware that i'm living and that's great.
There's no need to kill myself I have friends, family, i love nature, i love talking to people etc. I love living.. but i don't need a god for that... a god doesn't make sense at all.
Why the fuck won't he show us that he exists? he ain't there xD and btw science shows us a logical explaination for ecerything
@doorrobotics well actually, Buddhism is divided into realms, one them being the realm of the gods, but even the gods are subject to the infinite reincarnation, and therefore by having good enough karma, anyone can enter into that realm. But to be truly free, you have to stop the reincarnation by reaching nirvana
@MrWorshipMe Look up Planck time on Wikipedia, it's the shortest time span that has any meaning. Therefore, we couldn't test wether shorter time differences exist. Pi only 'exists' as a mathematical object, not as a physical object and isn't measurable in any way. The same goes for all irrational numbers.
@stijnisgoed You do know that Planck length and time are not very mainstream right? no physicist knows anything about scales in which gravity might or might not interfere with quantum theory, as no one has a good theory about the subject.
Even those who use Planck length and time for their loop gravity and super gravity and what not don't know if they should use hbar or just h to calculate this lenth and time.
Also, if all numbers were rational, no chaotic precession could occur - and it does.
@stijnisgoed since we are incapable of observing infinity, it is impossible to prove that three body motion never returns over the same exact pattern twice - but mathematically, according to the known laws of motion, it shouldn't and I see no reason to believe it does unless your axiom is that no irrational exists, and then I can not prove you anything...
@MrWorshipMe I do accept that you can prove mathematical statements using irrational numbers, and that those statements can be associated with the physical world. But I don't see why this would mean that irrational numbers 'exist'. We can mathematically construct a 100-dimensional space, but does that mean it really exists?
@MrWorshipMe Secondly, given for example the ZFC axioms of set theory and Gödel numbering, you only need a finite amount of binary numbers to proof what you just said, so why would it be a very strong reason to belief God is not a programmer?
LOL, just realised how strange this discussion is, given I don't even believe in God :)
@stijnisgoed I did not understand this part: "you only need a finite amount of binary numbers to proof what you just said", I would be happy if you could direct me to a source, so I can get smarter :)
I agree that mathematics concepts are not essentially true in reality, I am not a Platonist.
But, chaos theory is a good reason to believe in Irrational numbers - if all the numbers were rational, chaotic precession would eventually repeat themselves... and I don't think this is very probable.
@MrWorshipMe Using Gödel numbering, you can assign a unique number to every mathematical axiom and every proof. That means that everything we know (or even everything our minds can comprehend) can be represented in the form of a finite amount of numbers, including the 'mathematical existence' of irrational numbers.
@MrWorshipMe Indeed the set is never complete, but a computer programmer with a computer (much) more potential than our universe could make a set of proofs that is large enough to fool us into thinking we don't live in a computer simulation, while actually we do (hypothetically). Because everything we can think of, has already been thought of by this hypothetical supercomputer. And that is what the original argument was about.
@stijnisgoed Maybe we are the grand simulation's way of creating this infinite list of mathematical arguments :)
Also, the computer may calculate on demand the detail scale we measure, so nothing is infinite, like fractal simulations...
As a side note, I too don't believe in god, but saying things like "god is \ is not a programmer" to me is like saying "god doesn't \ does play with dice" - it's a way to speak about nature, that's what Einstein did :)
@MrWorshipMe 'In conclusion, I could not find any good reason to believe we live in a simulation'. Haven't the researchers in this video given you good solid reasons?
@MrWorshipMe I don't know much about chaos theory. The only thing I can say is that our universe may be just a very good approximation of one in which chaotic precession never repeats itself, because - as you said earlier - we cannot observe for an infinite amount of time.
@stijnisgoed Also, if there are no irrational numbers, and the smallest length is Planck's length, then our universe can not be anisotropic, since some rotations are impossible (they produce irrational multiples of the unit length).
And if I go one Planck to the side, and one Planck up, what is the distance between where I was to where I am? 2 Planck's? How then can x^2+y^2=d^2 be true at the large scale?
@MrWorshipMe That's a very good question. Hadn't thought about that yet. I don't know the answer. I don't know enough general relativity (hardly any) and quantum mechanics to say anything useful about that.
Buddhism has NO god. How misleading that Buddhism gets lumped in with God-obsessed cults like Christianity and Islam. In fact at the core, Buddhism is Atheistic, or at least Agnostic. A main belief is "Emptiness": there is no self, no soul, no god, no creator. @DJmixmastermicro. this show is made from a judeo-christian western point of view, so even if they are atheist scientists they still grew up in that culture and so assume other non-western philosophies are the same christianity, when in fact they are not.
@TheBalamik. at the end of the day, there is no historical evidence anything great actually happened to those people. the existence of jesus as a person is even debated. at least buddha and muhamad have historical evidence to prove they were actual people. the evidence of their spiritual experience can be surmised in the results of their teachings.
the experience they induced in that girl reminds me of what happens sometimes during an LSD trip. You get this overwhelming sense of being connected to god and to the universe and everything in it...very cool feeling..wow imagine doing this experiment with the helmet while on LSD..shazaam!!

@falidy Including Einstein in your list makes your concept of god pretty mute.
He did not believe in a miracle working, all knowing, super natural god with or or without a son.

@MrWorshipMe Einstein believed in a super intellectual being that created the world. This pretty much fits the definitions Muslims provide on God - I'm not saying Einstein was a Muslim - Its true he did not believe in a miracle working God but he did however believe that God - Who created the laws of physics - can adjust and mutilate the laws of physics causing "Miracles" because even if we with our limited minute knowledge and resources can play with the laws of physics then what can God do ?
@falidy I wonder where you get you "facts" from... try reading about Einstein's views before you write such nonsense... try this: type in wikipedia Einstein, and go to the page dedicated to his views on religion for starters.
You might also want to read on Spinoza too.
Einstein most certainly did NOT believe in an intelligent being, Einstein's god has neither intelligence, feeling, nor will.
Also, no human managed so far to change the laws of physics, I don't know what you mean.
@flyboynextdoor Exactly, which means our consciousness is separate from our physical bodies (not produced by brain), and it not only 'imagines' your external reality, but your body and brain as well b/c that's what can properly experience what we call physical reality in.
@icedilli25 Einstein even said it himself "the question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy"
