  • @000x7 Blackbirds are 380hp not 510 and they did not make a 'Stage 5'.

    An 03-04 Cobra is forged internals, underrated at 390hp (found later to be ~430hp), and for $600 you can pulley/CAI/tune it and bump it to 530hp at the crank. The stock engine can handle 1000hp, proven.

    The kits for your Trans Ams cost $3,200 to get you up to 515hp, which is at your engine's breaking point. You'll need to get forged internals to run over 500 - break out the wallet -

  • @Mr02Ws6TA Have you even watched the video reviews of the new Camaro? The average is a 13.0 1/4 mile, I have seen one on a video review doing a 12.9 second 1/4 mile where all the LS1's got about 13.5 or so.

    With a good driver the LS1 can break into the high 12's. With a good driver the LS3 Can break into the mid 12's. It's a larger engine that makes more power, it's better than the LS1.

That was a car and driver time so an actual drag racer can always do better. Any car can be faster than what a tv show says ,in different hands. New camaro sucks nuts is only opinion wise and I hear many other people say the same, I wouldn't buy one myself but I can't say anything like that, I look at cars a different way.

Stock for stock your still not beating any Cobra's with your Camaro's and Trans ams the only one I will give props STOCK are 06 and up ZO6 Vettes but year for year do the comparisons its not that hard...

  • This ws6 has a vengeance vindicator cam in it. It's probably the highest horsepower cam only car you'll see. 440 rwhp is plenty to smoke a pullied cobra that's obviously getting belt slip.

I beat him by one length on the street and half a length at our local track! I have personally run a 12.61 in my 100% Stock SS on DRs at a track! Now I have a mild Cam, intake, exhaust, a mild tune, Stock bottom end, and stock drive train, and I run low 11s. And that's with two 12" subs in the back and full interior on Daily driver drag radials.

  • @trevinboy Ummm... LS3?? GTOs don't have LS3s genius. They have LS2 6.0L and the LS1 5.7 buddy. The Quickest stock SS Camaro E/T that I have personally seen was a 12.68 on street tires. And it was bone stock down to the paper filter. If he had Drag Radial on that thing I'm pretty sure he would have hit low 12s! My best E/T when mine was stock was a 12.92 on street tires. Now I have exhaust and a short throw but I haven't had the chance to run it again.

  • @trevinboy Here where I live a Bone Stock Cobra runs high 12s to low 13s on street tires(depending on the driver) and on Drag Radials mid to high 12s depending on the driver.

  • Stock For Stock, a Terminator is quicker than ANY F-Body LS1 or LT1. Cobra runs high 12's stock, F-body's low 13's.

    It's Power-to-weight, people.

    Terminator is 390hp/390ft.lbs., 3500lbs.

    F-Body is 345hp/360ft.lbs., 3400lbs.

    I personally would rather have an F-Body with mods than an already supercharged Snake, but both are bad ass cars, but there is no replacement for displacement, and the 5.7 LS1 is a great engine to modify.

A friend of mine has a 02 camaro ss its a automatic making 380 rwhp and he beats that cobra which dynos nearly the same power. Some of the camaros got down to 3300+ lbs , every cobra weighed over 3600. Is not hard to beat terminators in a race , they will either have 100+ rwhp more than who there racing or they will have less, and there are plenty of videos of camaros beating these cobras.

  • I was in the same situation on whether to get an 03 cobra or an 05 gto. I went with the Cobra due to my friend's advice because he works in a race shop that modifies all makes and models. His claim was the Cobra engine can be built easily to 600-1000 horsepower without changing some internal components. Essentially my shopping list includes $3,500 Kenne Bell S/C, some smaller pullies, and drag radials.

  • honestly im not gonna b biased butim a die hard ws6 guy but the 03 04 era cobra is really fast but with minimal bolt ons a trans am will rape 1 easily because that supercharger isnt all that mustang fan boys think it is.. the ws6 is already fast on motor so just like in the vid with a few cam and engine mods you can destroy 1.. becuz cam timing does alot for horsepower and torque wich means high speed and quick excelaration

  • Cobra if you can afford it. They run mid 12's stock and with 4 simple mods you can run mid 11's all day trapping 119-120. 2.8 upper pulley, intake, exhaust and tune. Thats it. Go out and have fun!!

  • Yea but the zr1 costs over 100k, where as the the shelby is less than half that (putting it w/base vette competition) and the 03-04 was like 35k.   • I had a Firebird with 170000 miles, never replaced the window motor, the seats were comfortable, even the back seats with the fronts all the way scooted up, The visibility isnt bad either, well i didnt mind it. It was a 94. I like the new stangs though. they look pretty cool, and sound amazing.

  • that cobra uses a supercharger in the same way LS series motors use cubes. its MUCH cheaper to go NA on any LS series engine in the same way its MUCH cheaper to go FI on a ford modular. OHC engines don't have the cube advantage of GM's OHV engines. the most you can safely stroke a modular is to about 302ci or 5L where a typical LS1 goes from a 346 to 408 easily. we need to get on the same team and keep putting imports in their place...behind American muscle!

    Its not considered stroking when you increase displacement, its considered stroking when you increase rod length. When you bore the engine, thats when you increase displacement. So the real question is can a 346 ci LS Chevy with just a bore job beat a blown cobra. If not, then that proves chevy can only beat ford by stroking their engines. But what if you do spend the $5k in stroking a cobra engine, which would be better when everything is equal?

  • The Ws6 has a better gear ratio up top...3:42 gears vs the 3:73 gears in the Cobra.Both cars have a 6 speed or at least thats what it sounded like. The WS6 came in an automatic also but not the Cobra. They only come in 6 speed manuals. I remember they did an article on an automatic WS6 vs. a manual WS6, and the auto was a tenth quicker in the 1/4 mile in stock form. I would never buy an auto myself it takes the fun out of the car IMO...lol. Automatics are much better for drag racing though.

  • Cam only running a 12.36?? Maybe it's a factory freak (LS6 block). Don't you need exhaust to have a bigger cam though... exhaust alone will add alot to that TA

  • by cam only he means boltons, and a cam. stock heads. 12.36 is cake with an ls1 cam only setup. christ, the record ls1 cam only setup is in the 10's

  • I wish I can find the article on the little 5.0 Coupe, that got into the low 10's with 345hp, and slicks - suspension work and full interior.
