  • her beauty matches her music perfectly.

  • maravillosa,esta brillante interpretacion

  • OMG........so great....so beautiful.......

  • That's why it's called Air on the String, only air's playing on it XD

  • magnifique j'en pleure

  • Difficulty level - Asian)

  • @OLMIT1810

    This isn't hard at all.

  • @Nime64 playing as this is so hard that you can't imagine it... Music is the school of permanent effort, you can't say more stupid that you just said

  • @lolmansimob

Want me to post a video of me playing it?

  • @Nime64 yeah, do it, i'll laugh a lot because a good musician is OPEN MINDED, and recognizes the soul in the music. I'm a pianist from France and perfectly know that... Let me see !

  • @lolmansimob

    Ok.

  • @lolmansimob

He said difficulty - Asian so he's one of those idiots that don't know about menuhin, heifetz, perlman or any of the "greats".

  • She plays that violin with her soul. And I'm an atheist.

  • god and great violin for us!!

  • waaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww, que c'est envoutant

  • You just GOT to LOVE the facial expressions like between 1:00 and 1:06 !!

  • Oh, that's soo nice!!!

  • Shut the help up it does not even sound dry. It's perfecto stupid hates...lol..

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is absolutely amazing!

  • this violin is NOT ok.

  • I'm divided, but I agree that Sarah's Violin is high and dry sounding. It's very clear and well suited for the faster songs, but I do think that she'd benefit from using a warmer sounding one for the slower songs. Either way, still awesome.

  • c'est beau comme son le violon, j'adore, c'est tellement poétique.

  • 16 people saw "G string" and thought it meant something else.

  • of course she's Chinese :P

  • @TheViolinmusiclover No she is Korean

  • She is Korean.

  • She's a great violinist, but I hope she changes her violin. Sounds very nasal and dry. I hope she uses the same kind Joshua Bell uses.

  • @ezjapanesecooking i beg to differ, i find that her Guaneri is very bright and beautiful sounding.. my opinion ;)

  • @pianostringss I don't know if it's just me, but I hear the same nasal, dry and a little bit metalic violin tone in this video too. However, I love Sarah's Four Season. I think that may probably be the best Vivaldi Four Season out there as far as I know. Much better than Joshua Bell's. He just didn't deliver on that one. I love Janine Jansen's Four Seasons too.

  • @ezjapanesecooking Agreed Sarah Chang's Four Seasons was amazing. Awesome power throughout.

  • Absofuckinglutely awesome! I would have liked to listen to a slower play tough.

  • wow! Amazing

  • itd be better without the piano

  • @Nurfthug no, the piece is written for 4 voices

  • we koreans are very proud of her!!! Sarah Chang, Cheer up!!!

  • vraiment superbe!!

  • Belle interprétation pleine de sensibilité

  • excellent

  • The reverb in this place is amazing. The first few notes especially are incredible, I can't describe how I hear it except that it is addicting.

  • super romantic ! @

  • Sehr schön... =)

  • and people ask me why I continue to teach violin after 30 years..... I should send them this video. before I began taking lessons my mother insisted I play another instrument, one of several we had at home already. But there was no violin; it has the most soul I thought. before passing away, my father thanked me for introducing classical music to him.

  • I insist, the creator of this piece saw heaven's beauty before he's composition.

  • Funny that she never touches her G string!

What a powerful performance, brings tears to your eyes.

Some will say it's too romantic, but who really cares?

  • @SpecialGuard maybe that's why it's called AIR on the G string.because you don't touch it.

  • C'est sublime, je reviendrai souvent ici. Marvellous!

  • Mi fa venire i brividi ... Bravissima ..

  • I was just 17 Years Old as i became to know J.S.Bach´s Musik and his unbelievable Genius to underestand and compose classical Musik, however since that Time i became to know many of his Greatest classical Music Works;this Work is for me one of his most deepest and Beautifull Defination of cosmological Music, itt´s perhaps beyound our real Dimention in this Universe.Ican´t imagine to live without his Great Music.

  • Je t'aime.

  • Zarąbiste!!! Przypomniał mi się pewien dzień kwietniowy a mianowicie 13.04.10r (sejm) ;(

  • Absolument merveilleux!

    J'ai eu des frissons!

  • Love the emotion on her face; you can tell she really feels what she's playing.

  • j'adore

  • Merci ! Vraiment merci =)

  • i love her laugh at 2.54

  • MAGNIFIK

  • merci

  • this is playing in my feeling !!

  • "The title comes from violinist August Wilhelmj's late 19th century arrangement of the piece for violin and piano. By transposing the key of the piece from its original D major to C major and transposing the melody down an octave, Wilhelmj was able to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string." per Wikipedia

  • Why " Air on the G string" if it is played on E string ?

  • Sublime...

  • I do believe that this is the first video on YT that I've not seen one dislike. Only something so beautiful as this, huh?

  • This piece is beautifull.

  • beautiful

  • I love this piece since I was a child, it's impossible to discribe why I get these emotions everytime I hear that. Especially played by Sarah Chang, the sound she gets from her instrument is amazing.

  • you can feel the music...

  • Merci Encore. So pretty my skin shiver

  • I was supposed to go see her but the DSO decided to go on strike and the whole season got cancelled...bullshit.

  • Immaculate performance...I cried.

  • Formidável !!

  • best performance of this ive ever heard. she makes the strings weep!

  • @InDarknessLight Right? And I think it was originally written to be played as a solo with a piano accompaniment, but all you can find is with an orchestra. This is hands down the best version of Air I have ever heard. I got choked up listening to this for the first time.

  • Comment removed

  • @InDarknessLight totally, shes likes RIGHT ON! it`s like perfect

  • Best performance of this piece ever !!! I will bet Bach would have wished to extract this sound from this piece ...

  • When the Beautiful Melody of Sadness touches our heart and conscience

    This beautiful musical creation...

    Reflects the most beautiful sadness

Resonates in our minds and hearts,

In the innocence and human consciousness,

  • @JavierVMaldonado And yet it touches the most sensitive strings of the cruel and inhumane reality In which survive on Millions of our beloved innocent and defenseless children and people In all our beloved planet Earth; Who suffer from hunger, injustice and abuse On hands of the insane and cowardly one, who wickedly "govern" this planet. A deaf song into unconsciousness of a few The pains of many are Javier
  • trully beaurifull! a breathtaking piece of music!

  • @peredebeeste - Entierement de votre avis

  • @peredebeeste - Entierement de votre avis

  • I don't know which is more beautiful her or the sound of her playing. Screw it I will just say both.

  • Eating an ice cream sandwich, enjoyn Bach being played beautifully. Dis is da music ppl shud be eating 2 everyday. Thumbs up if u agree. ;P

  • @GeekForLife1213 What's an ice cream sandwhich? Or is that a euphemism?

  • @Teaser318 lmfao youve never had one?! theyre the best its like 2 cookies i suppose with ice cream in the middle. but iget how you would think it would be somethin else;) too funny

  • @GeekForLife1213

    Thumb whore, learn to spell.

  • @GeekForLife1213 Iagree

  • @GeekForLife1213 Dis is da?

    Die in a fire.

  • The violin's sound is so direct!

  • Just don't get too chunky, Sarah. Hate to say it, but no more booty for you, unless you trim down. I want to be able to see those once lovely shoulders.

  • @tonywsmith2 Is it how she look or how she plays thats important?

  • @flisanhours

In the most important sense, which is to say the ecological sense---how she looks,

(which is not to deny that I love her playing).

  • @tonywsmith2 If it where so; why does everyone (including Chang) always dress up like they where cupcakes?

And, you can close your eyes - but not your ears.

  • @flisanhours Aye

  • @tonywsmith2 Yes because she'd fall over her own violin to get a piece of you.

    Idiot.

  • @Teaser318

She can still fall down on that piece, just as you say; I just don't want to get any

    chubbier.

  • Such a beautiful piece by Bach, being played so beautifully. Thank you for sharing with us. Sarah Chang is one of my most favorite violinists.

  • There is definitively a GOD!!

  • @piizzaefichi No there isn't. Or if so, there is also Santa.

  • magnifica interpretazione...

  • Beautiful.

  • chickenpox

  • Marvelous! I'd take her interpretation of "A HAIR on the G string, too!

  • Definitely my favourite version of "Air on the G String". Thumbs up.

  • sin palabras

  • Amazing! Her interpretation of it is beautiful.

  • Maravilloso!

  • @RAF04 Merci

  • @filometti1 Grazie! :D

  • Merveilleuse interprétation, seule l'écoute en silence peut traduire la force de ses notes dont la pureté n'a d'égale que la profondeur!

    Magnifique...

  • the most amazing crescendo at the beginning!

  • i just cant get enough of her music! the way she takes these classics and transforms them into an amazing new creation is beyond me!

  • she can play my violin anytime

  • I just absolutely love the way she plays. It's truely marvelouse. I wish I had her violin

  • awesome work!! ;o)

  • i wished i had her violin!...

  • I like the violin version better than the piano version. The music sometimes makes me cry. I feel like it involves happiness and sadness in a girl's memory. And it ends with life's ending. But from the start, the girl never regrets her life.

  • THIS IS SPARTAA !!

  • Merci pour cette magnifique vidéo et interprétation de Sarah Chang.

    Félicitations.

    Bonne journée.

    Margot

  • Remember your dream, my good friend.

  • To me Bach should be played with more withholding then this. For Bach, there's no need to emplify notes or emotions, it's actually supposed to be played a little "cold" coz the music does the emotion for itself. That's how Bach used to do it actually.

That being said, this is still insanely beautiful to listen to, really.

  • Simplemente.... Increíble
