  • My sister uploaded this through my account. And no, I don't think money was just lost. I feel bad that the land and animal were severely harmed by the oil spill.

  • whwer duh u gonna git a piece a duck tape big nuff fer da pipe connection shmuck plus you just contaminated more water !! did you dump it in your well??

  • WHAT DOES 9/11 AND THE GULF OIL SPILL HAVE ON COMMON? THEY NEVER

    HAPPENED!

  • They did actually try this with the "top hat" (or whatever it was called) efforts. It didn't work due to hydrate crystals.

Unless they tried it because of you? =p

  • Seriosly.?

  • It work's in theory but do you know how hard it is to put 4 pulley systems 1 mile under the ocean

  • so where gunna keep 2 ships constantly holding down the cap? hmm

  • HI Guys, I just wanted you to know that you are now on gulfoilspillsolution org under the Similar Solutions Tab. Your idea is actually similar to an idea I had and also similar to a whole group of ideas being submitted from around the world by different companies and individuals all with the same basic concept. This group of ideas is now being looked at by Senator Richard Burrs office in Washington. I just wanted to say thanks and check out the site for updates or contact me, Jeff H

  • How do you install 4 anchor points for those ropes to cable through at the bottom of the ocean in those conditions?

  • @scotthillart

Exactly where can I buy a 2 mile long rope that could connect to the tug boats?

If anyone finds a website where you can buy rope in increments of 400 meters count me in!

  • They tried it... it didn't work... back to the drawing board. <sad face>

  • As long as you can heat the dome so it doesn't form hydrates(ice crystals) and plug up...

This isn't an issue of "stopping the flow from the BOP",the casing is damaged at 1000' below the BOP,so even if they could stop the flow,it would just force more oil from under the sea floor towards the surface.

  • Here's my idea. Assasinate the top President of BP. Assasinate everyone who's in control of all these then send the rednecks to do the job.

  • @Burnedice Under the Patriot Act, the president was given the LEGAL right to execute ANYONE he pleases, (guilty or innocent, adult or child) without having to go thru a court of law. So that would be Obama's job, not ours.

Send letters to him asking for justice for all Americans.

  • yeeehaw.

  • WHAT IS THIS A REDNECK'S GUIDE TO ENGINEERING, THE BLOW OUT PREVENTER IS FIVE STOREYS TALL THAT WONT WORK IT WOULD BE LIKE COVERING UP A FIVE STOREY BUILDING. FUNNY VIDEO

  • @GARVYITE I'd like to see you do better asshole.

  • At least there are people like you trying to help to fix the problem! Something like this could work in theory. Appreciate you guys taking your time to make this video for us.

  • haha tug of war!!

  • does anyone know how much pressure this oil leaking from the bottom of the ocean have?

  • is the Oil Spill really that small?

  • What about gas?

  • Shale eyelets...yeees, more ocean tugs than there are, and a 50-story caisson FTW. Best of luck cobbling it up.

  • i had a similar idea, more like a heavy bell shape with holes in certain positions to allow it to sink into position over the leak lowered down by guide ropes or whatever, the holes must be made so that can be shut off once bell is settled over hole,at the top of the bell would be a suction tube to suck up oil.its just an idea i don't know shit about pressure on bell.i find it hard to believe that oil companies do not have a plan in place when shit like this happens, fucken morons.

  • no more drilling ok

  • also if they could go down to the bottem of the ocean to place 4 drill holes with some cables attached, im sure they would just do something eles while there down there.

  • @haltzy what was your idea?

  • @lsb3340 well actually, our close friend emailed the BP company, offering to help, with his submarine. They replyed, we dont need your help. So obviously there not open to ideas.

  • @haltzy haha i think the economy is

  • watch this video, much simpler and probably more effetive.

    youtube.com/watch?v=fB2qgOAsOLo&NR=1

  • Wow this video pisses me off... there is no way in hell this could work. Only in a fish tank with 0 pressure. I bet you and your Dad think you're so smart huh? Keep dreaming.

  • @fishalot2 why do you need the ropes to the top? Just add weights to the dome and sink it and guide it with ROVs to the top of BOP. Your problem would be then formation of hydrates (ice) in the dome and the riser, as the oil is mixed with cold gas.

  • @fishalot2 That's precisely the idea BP was trying with the "top hat" the only difference was with robots and subs, instead of boats and helicopters. It could work, but the precision it takes to place the dome, at 5000 ft is extremely difficult.

The pressure you're referring to,is exactly what would push the oil out the tube. If pressure was the problem, the pipes wouldn't be down there in the 1st place. How do you think they got there? Someone put them down there.

  • @fishalot2 And what are you doing to help?

  • are you saying that we need to build a 2500 ft cylinder!?

  • lol

  • The idea is exaclty right and will work... but it would be done very differently for the real pressure and stress loads involved at 5,000 feet.... check out user 1236bigcat... he lays it out much more realistically.

    God bless.

  • I thought of close to the same idea and BP tried something similar as well, but it didn't work. I would say to make the experiment more realistic add a bunch of rocks to the bottom of the tank. You then might want to try a rubber gasket of some sort that will make a better seal on the un-even surface. That is the one thing BP forgot about, that might actually of made it work. Hopefully, someone comes up with an answer soon!

  • 00:17 LOL at the freaky dark skin color!

  • the problem is this,..the bottom is sand..the anchors would never hold up,..the amount of pressure is way way way too strong. Here is a fix.

Youtube -(gulf oil leak solution (by puffadderbite)

  • how much would a big ass cap like that way exactly lol

  • The helicopter is unnecessary. The cap could be dropped from a boat.

  • Solution: drill 2 other holes to relieve the pressure and pump the oil out. Then cap the hole. Its that easy. Basic high pressure engineering. And they have no other way.

  • What are the plans when tides and currents upset the capture device? The evolving oil will already have an upward pressure against the dome.

  • its funny how simple it would be for them to fix this...but hmmmm i wonder why they aren't.

  • great my same idea.but you only need the weight of the dome.it would self desend .only need cables to guide it over leak.also if you did not have a tight seal on bottom edges you could pump top kill around the dome bottom.easy to seperate oil from the water on top ie:in tankers.bp tryed the dome but did not have the pipe or hose on top????why???

  • Rednecks can't conduct experiments...

  • hello this oil spill is in the middle of the ocean, not some fish tank. The problem is the pressure under water. There is huge amounts of pressure at the bottom of the ocean, adding ocean currents to it makes the problem even worse. but i like the effort.

  • nice work.

To plug the leak, how about inserting a huge "hollow-wall anchor" type device into the hole. I'm talking about the metal threaded kind that expand and grip, not the plastic ones. Then, drop a giant sphere of conrete on it for good measure.

  • if there were more people like you guys who cared, the world would be a better place. the concept seems plausible, but i'm not knowledgeable enough to know the full workings. :)

  • This is great, I had this in mind, I'll do my video during the long weekend.

Dude don't don't criticize, you guys never seen a swimming pool vaccum at work? You anchor the cables to the floor sea using weights or explosives. You don't need a tight seal, you can pump the oil leaking and water, and then on the surface you can split them, you don't know oil goes always on top?

  • good stuff

  • Ok, so the thing is that your tugboats fell out of the fishtank. Oh, and the oil spill isn't a tube coming from the bottom of the ocean, it's a broken pipeline, so your cone wouldn't have that tight seal that you're trying to emulate. Lastly, how are you planning to anchor the ropes in the ocean?

You may have oversimplified this situation a bit.

  • that might work

  • wow scientificc

  • =_= first comment... and your idea is to put i giant funnel at the bottom of the ocean... that isnt going to work...

  • @Fable98 Clearly it did work, we just demonstrated. It would need to be anchored tot he bedrock.
