As the aforementioned referee i do feel i need to defend myself, and in doing so, the reputation of wronged referees everywhere....the players in the area were from both teams as shown in the footage. Indeed the Hoylake coach is clearly heard saying that players were in the area. Secondly, if a certain centre forward had not been loaned to the opposition in the second half, and scored two goals then the issue of the final penalty would have been irrelevant!
referee ruins german teams tour of Hoylake with a dodgy decision to take the penalty again when the players in the area were the home team players. the score when the penalty was taken is 5-4 to Hoylake in the last minute.
