  • i know that anytime i watch a video and i see ogrish.com its either going to be a disturbing or graphic video

  • Oh...my...god! This looks so terrible. RIP Paul Dana. It's not fair young lives end so early. :(

  • It was like the Alex Zanardi's crash in 2001, at the American Memorials

  • so Paul Dana was the guy who ran into the already wrecked car? or was he the car that got ran into? I know it wasn't his fault.. hard to stop on the dime in those things.. just clarifying

  • @Greg4fun yes, Paul Dana was the guy who ran into the already wrecked car !!

  • rip dan

    rip paul

    rip dale

    fioh

  • R.I.P Paul Dana

    R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • 2011 indy 500 champ dan weldon had just died in a fatal crash at las vegas

  • why don't they have lights around the arena and if something happens they turn on which alerts drivers to stop

  • @darkerego they do. They have what is basically a stop light at various locations around the track. Green - Race, Yellow - caution and Red - race has stopped.

  • @darkerego They do. But they're also moving at 220mph

  • @darkerego They do. Indy cars also have lights on the stearing wheel that do the same thing.

  • I think the real question was how fast Dana was traveling when he reached the accident scene; even without hitting the debris, IndyCars can't brake heavily enough that he would have avoivded hitting Carpenter. Don't know whether the yellow indicator light in his cockpit wasn't working or if his spotter was asleep.

  • mann. im glad carpenter lived he was nearly crushed by pauls car

  • that guy shouldn't have been even on the bottom half of the track, he should have been higher and not hit any debris is the first place!

  • if you see carefully, dana hit debris from the other car just before the crash at 0:29. reports say that the debris got stuck in his right suspension and because of that he could not brake effectively! and its not because he was a rookie. if he didn't hav the reflexes to brake early, he wouldn't be in that car in the first place. a driver is tested for a lot of stuff, including reflexes and vision and stuff.... so its impossible that he did not brake!

  • @mountainchannels u wrote, with differente words, what is written in the video description: "Slow-motion footage showed that Paul had hit debris from Ed's car, moments before impact which caused damage to the right-front suspension, leaving him with no chance of avoiding contact.".

  • @mountainchannels - I find it amazing that the driver in the white car survived. I thought at first that was where the death was, then I saw the driver's body from the green car rolling downtrack behind the car around 0:35. That is just amazing that the white car's driver survived that crash.

  • @CycloneGU "driver's body from the green car rolling downtrack"... what the hell are you on about? It's the front wheels/suspension and part of the car's nose structure. But, yes, I find it amazing that Carpenter survived... although the car is not white, it's just the way it reflects light in this terrible quality video.

  • @klesterchopperchipe - I may have got my comments mixed up between two videos - here you are right, it's parts of the car.

  • @mountainchannels ya you also saw sparks come off his car to

  • I guess his Mercedes- Benz didn't know how to stop.

  • I Think it was he green car?

  • Carpenter spun out, and the course was under yellow.

    Paul Dana never slowed down.

    It cost him his life.

    Rest in peace, Paul.

  • Who was who? I'm guessing the guy that almost fliped over died?

  • Descansa em paz, Paul Dana

  • Hey ignorant girl, all kinds of safety features came from auto racing, mirrors, seat belts, power brakes and much better tire, so shut up and bake cookies

  • @VanHoorelbeke but aren't those especially used in auto racing than over the world? Without auto racing the usual automobiles would still be with those safety features.

  • R.I.P Paul Dana

  • R.I.P Paul Dana

  • Well this is what happens when you use those banked bends and oval shapes... whoever crashes affects everyone cos there's no escape route, unlike in normal circuits used in most motor racing (formula 1, BTCC, DTM... etc). Its dangerous to drive in a circuit where you make a mistake and there's a wall there to meet you.

  • its not even worth argueing with stupid people.first they drag you down to their level, then they beat you with experience

  • i always though dana was the other car..

  • are you fucking kidding me why dont you get behind the wheel of an indycar and i will see if you do not crash but in the mean time go fuck yourself.

  • his spotter told him to go low and full throttle past....that's what he did....retard

  • Why wouldn't the spotter have told him that a car had spun, that there was a yellow (which inevitably there would be), to stay low and immediately slow down?

  • It was during practice, I don't think they have as many spotters then. Regardless, yellow light had come out and they have lights around track as well as on steering wheel and he ignored it.

  • Yeah, I couldn't understand why he would be going so fast if a car had just spun, because you know a yellow is going to come out. Kinda like Zanardi's accident - the driver that hit him (Carpentier) didn't slow down, even though Zanardi had spun on the track.

  • no NO, the spotter told him that a car crashed high and to go low and FULL THROTTLE IT PAST. The spotter did not tell him to slow down or that there was a yellow. If he had immediately tried to slow down he would have either spun out or hit carpenter at a much lower velocity (either way not dying). He died because he hit carpenter at full throttle. Please READ

  • As a racer, i can tell you that sometimes there's just no where to go, especially when going 230 mph

  • YOU STUPID TWATS!

  • Dramatic!

  • so you are disrespecting the driver that died and saying he's white trash? you really are the piece of trash you stupid imbecile bastard

  • indycar is an international series retard

  • @thelizardfolk

so then, where else beside the americas are they driving? japan. that really is INTERNATONAL.

like IHOP? International house of... strange, it only excist in the us.

over here, that word is only used to make something bigger than it really is.

funny, never seen McD/burgerking or FEDEX call themself that...

  • @fryI78 Have you actually take a look at the grid? DTM is considered SUPER international despite only visiting a couple of countries in Western Europe

  • Oh and Super GT has high international prestige too...

  • damn, I think they should focus a bit more on safety features than losing weight in the car...

  • i meet paul dana shook his hand and everything i was only 6 or 7 at the time and he handed me my award for winning the first kid kart race ever at beaverun

  • Paul Dana, in the Rahal-Letterman car, was told to "go low" by his spotter, unfortunately this was the wrong call. Slow-motion footage showed that Paul had hit debris from Ed's car, moments before impact which caused damage to the right-front suspension, leaving him with no chance of avoiding contact.

Just clearing the air. Such a sad lost to the sport. RIP Paul.

  • Who cares if it was his fault. Things happen really fast at 190+ MPH. So sad!!!!

  • i always thought the guy in the car that first hit the wall died... only now i learned that dana´s car was the fast one. horrible crash

  • Rumor has it his throttle stuck or he missed the lights and the spotter call. Either way it's tragic and an accident.

  • It was really his fault - cars ahead of him came by at slower speeds, yellow was already called It was free practice, no need to get the lap done.

"Yellow's out, crash at turn 2, slow down"

I bet his spotter told him this, but he didn't follow. Even without a call from the spotter he should've seen the yellow lights.

A damn rich noob who bought the ride and paid the ultimate price. I can't feel sorry for him - why did he keep his foot down???

It was free practice, not a race

  • I have to agree - I never understood why he was still going all out. Very strange and the Carpenter was very lucky as well. This is why people like Dana and Duno should not be racing at this level. They are way out of their leagues and dangerous to other racers. Maybe these types can be weeded out with reunification and a deeper pool of real talent.

  • Very true.

I do hope that unifications means that mo talent ass-clowns are weeded out, but the real truth is this. If you got a wad of cash, or you look like a playboy model, you will get a ride any day of the week over a much more talented driver with some of these teams.

  • You sir make absolutley no sense.

What you are saying is you want no talent ass-clowns on the track taking seats away from people who can do way more than what some of these drivers could ever do. Nice yo see you want bad racing

  • I don't think it's fair to say Paul Dana had no talent. If he was that bad, he couldn't have gotten a seat, even if he wanted to pay for it. The accident was due to his spotter telling him to go low, and then hitting debris (unavoidable at high speed) and thus being unable to slow or turn.

I see your point, but I think you're being a bit harsh.

  • actually...it's not that he had no talent...he lacked the talent necessary to succeed tho. He was a businessman and only had that ride because he brought the Ethanol sponsorship to the team.

  • wasn't it his first race?

  • R.I.P Paul Dana :( i I supported him to this fatal crash

  • Horribly tragic yet completely preventable.

Dana made a human error and had to pay the ultimate price - how harsh the world of racing can be at times.

RIP, Paul Dana. You will always be missed.

  • Reading the vikipedia text you get the feeling, that it was Pauls's leak of experience that caused him to hit the sliding car of ed carpenter. I think that's not the whole story, the IRL wants the people to think that because they don't want to admit that the cars are extremly unsave even nowerdays, so it's easy to say it was just Pauls mistakes. Rest in Peace Paul

  • No, it was definitely Paul's fault. He never even let off of the gas pedal. There are yellow lights on the track and he also gets notification on his onboard display. He simply didn't follow it. That's an example of driver error. Paul was a journalist, and should have stuck to that. The problem is that he brought his own sponsor and Rahal-Letterman provided him the car. Inexperienced drivers (Milka Duno) shouldn't have rides just because they get financial backing.

  • Amen on that - Duno needs to be ran out of the IRL bf she kills someone.

  • @AndronicusRy I kind of agree. you shouldn't be able to drive indy car without coming though at least one season in Indy Lights or some other lower formula open wheel oval league.

  • @quasiphatpaul Dana did TWO full seasons of Infiniti Pro (the Indy Lights of the time), where he had 1 pole, 1 win, 4 seconds, 2 more top 5 and 7 more top ten finishes in 24 races, and finished 2nd in points the latter season. He had enough experience and had shown enough skill to be given a shot at Indy cars. Saying the crash was caused by inexperience is simply 20-20 hindsight. We will never know why he didn't lift the throttle.

  • @jb4peace1 I stand corrected.

  • -The dam spotter calling to "go low" was a huge mistake!

  • ed carpenter should fell lucky watching him get hit and survive.unfortinate for Dana though

  • Damn...

  • Wikipedia is open source and you can't always trust it. However, I was watching it and remember it well

  • which car died paul dana in the white or green car

  • green

  • no, dana was on the white car, which crashed first

  • no sorry, he was on the green one.

  • thanks but the guy in the white car is he still alive after that crash??

  • The guy in the green car is Paul Dana. He died, because when the yellow came out, he did not slow down immeadiately like the other cars. As you can see in the video, he was airborne for a second. when you consider that those cars have enough downforce to drive upside down (around 2 tons, depends on the course) it truely is amazing. Ed Carpenter was in the white car, and still races today.

  • he is a amazing guy carpenter but it's very bad for dana

i hope sometimes that crashes can't be fatal but that's life...

but on wikipedia i read he died in the white car?!

  • paul era el que se estrello contra el vision o el mismo vision?jeje el año pasado no segui la indycar

  • RIP PAUL DANA

  • *

    rip paul

  • amazing, i thought the wall hit was it, then the worst happened

  • that sucks

  • RIP Paul...

When I saw this very first time long time ago, I thought Paul Dana was the one that got hit, I was amazed that the guy who got hid survived.

  • what one was dana, the one that had already crashed or the one that hit the wrecked car.

  • Dana was the one who hit the wrecked car

  • ok thanks

  • Dana was the one who hit the already wrecked car of Ed Carpenter.

  • :(

  • did he die???

  • yes, "Dana was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries just before noon. He was 30 years old, and is survived by his wife Tonya."

  • canada sucks you queer gay assfuck

  • I read your profile smokeweed. You seem to be obsessed with homosexuality now don't you. It might have something to do with the fact that you are a closet-thumper peaking out through the door.....Not that there's anything wrong with that, lol.

Perhaps change your name to "ebonics-spinning-wheel".

  • no one will remember you after you're gone. and people like you will piss on your grave. and probably steal the suit you were buried in.
