@ spunkypeanut, I actually have taught a super beginner class before, and while it;s true that you simplify the moves, it is also important to maintain correct position and posture. Teaching beginners is no excuse to get sloppy, they need to see the form as well as the footwork.

I am a championship level irish dancer, I am in the top group for my age in northamerica, and... no affence... but... you really should learn how to do ALL the basics ( crossing, turn out, straighten knees, point your toes, kick you BUM!)properly before you teach others.

I have the same issue lol (my teacher always yells at me to straighten my knees more), but I figured that I would point out that in Irish dance we ALWAYS keep our knees as straight as we can get them.

@GuitarFriend Not at all, but you might like to try Sean Nos dancing, the old and more original Irish dance. It is much more fluid and relaxed, hardly gay looking at all, in fact there are Irish styles of fighting based in it. I highly doubt anyone claiming she's so terrible has ever been a teacher for super beginner dancers. You don't dance full out when you are teaching them; you keep the moves super basic so they can focus on where their feet are supposed to go. Things like stretching your legs out and being really flashy/powerful come late after the basic footwork.
She is a lovely person but does not have very good technique-she is not turned out and her knees never straighten. These are two basic technique flaws.

You should think about doing this in a different place or wear light colored hose and shoes...the dark area under your couch makes it impossible to actually see your feet and what they are doing. Just thought I would point that out.

@BumFluffist thanks!!! <3 i started last fall and boy it kicked my butt! :D but its soo worth it! im off for the summer but i'll be back again ready to attack those reels! It really is a wonderful dance and i hope one day i can share it and teach it to more ppl!

@SoiljaBoyXbabii when are they going to make a video so people can learn how to spell and write properly? You need it. And Irish step dancing is done on its own mostly so your wrong there as well.

The easiest way to say if you stuff up is that the evens beats are on the left foot and the uneven beats are on the right foot / leg.

The second time you did 123's in a circle you didn't start at the right time! There are 8 beats in a bar, you have to start on number 1.

You should think about doing this in a different place or wear light colored hose and shoes...the dark area under your couch makes it impossible to actually see your feet and what they are doing. Just thought I would point that out.
