  • hmm.. still dont know if I want be a pharmacist or medical doctor... Well got a little bit of time because the required college classes are about the same

  • It's all about business. Selling poisons and making people even more sick in truth.

    Common sense.

  • @Shkarya No, not exactly. Most drugs that a pharmacist prescribes have certain qualities to make the patient better. However the drugs in stores that you aren't getting from a pharmacist may be in fact just that.

  • The knowledge of prescribed drugs and their affects on the nervous system throughout the body is based on cellular signaling mechanisms known to Molecular biologists for over 20 years.

A great deal of knowledge has been contributed to the pharmacy profession as the result of applied Molecular Biology techniques.

  • Pharmacists are ok...just over regulated like everything else..except banking. Banking needs more regs, not less. Doctors are the pushers....the new pushers....has anyone had a doctor do a simple mental health evaluation....NO, here's the script...see ya next time.

  • @davehutchinson67 as a pharmacist sadly this is true

  • Why did you mention the emergency situation, bulshitting?

  • @bomberfun1 Well..I'm from Baltimore...and as for our share of emergencies..we have plenty..so probably not. lol

  • As long as you have sick people...your gonna need pharmacist.

When people stop being sick then maybe then you should worry about the demand going low. Until then pharmacist will be needed.

My teacher is a pharmacist and informed me about it.

  • @TheMayoHELLO It's Chemists, Structural Biologists, Biochemists, and Microbiologists that design, isolate, and synthesize medications. The pharmacists mostly dispenses medications.

The basic scientific ignorance of the masses is what is responsible for most illnesses.

  • I'm in grade 10 and I want to be a Pharmacist when I grow up :)

  • DONT CONSIDER PHARMACY! Check out my website when you google "Prick Pharmacy" and see all the stories of ballbreakers, shit shopgirls etc. Don't be disillusioned by these crap info videos. If I had another shot in life, i would NOT be doing pharmacy.

  • @eurofoti your a fuking prick stop puttin that on every pharmacy video.Im a pharmacist myself and I love my job i love helping people and the money is absolutely great. so hussh it!!

  • @123onzlo LOL! Thanks for your constructive critisism. You love helping people and getting paid for it? Sounds like EVERY job out there (all jobs are out to help people, being grocerers, mechanics, tutors, even prostitutes, etc and involve money).

You're also sound a little defensive, coupled with a serious complex that is quick to judge and swear on top. I hope you don't behave like this with your customers. Oh, and you can't spell swear words either. I wouldn't want you to be my pharmacist.

  • @eurofoti so if it sucks why keep working, u should have knew u just stand behind a counter selling viagra to old people and crams for ladies with vaginal infection.

  • This video only portrays retail pharmacists and doesn't show the numerous other clinical settings.

  • i would do her

  • @Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee25 had to thumbs up this. totally un-necessary but completely true comment. I'm moving to the USA just to have a chance of working with her.

  • O.o

  • i wan 2 becum farmasist how i do dat?

  • @bradicalable Schedule an appointment with an academic adviser at whatever pharmacy program you're interested in. Complete the pre-requisite courses then take the PCAT and then apply to pharmacy schools. Hope that helps some

  • Comment removed

  • @bradicalable Well if you don't go to school and you can't spell then you're probably not going to achieve your goal of becoming a pharmacist.

  • @StaceySplyce Yes well i was originally just mucking around seeing how helpful someone would be when I spelt like that. Haha, 'farmasist'. Yeah well anyway, thanks for trying to help :)

  • @bradicalable No problem. I'm relieved to see that you were kidding around, lol

  • I tottaly sympathise with her! Especially when she mentioned that you need a lot of focus.Shall I mention patience?

    Fellow pharmacist here.

  • @ThebanPhalanx ...

Well currently within the UK you can either be a practicing doctor or pharmacist, however not both.

  • I don't know why so much people cry about Pharmacist's salaries.

A good Pharmacist that does the job right (knows how to bill, fast and effective etc.) and works the same hours as Medical Doctors can make similar salaries,if not more.

I know some Pharm.D. graduates who signed for about 105k/year straight out school and work an avg of 35 hours/week.

You can even supplement your income by doing teaching/research or simply have to work for big pharmaceutical companies.

    Get your facts straight...

  • This video is Horrible. Not once do they mention clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or industry....I just finished a year of pharmacy school and I've already been involved in over 8 health fiars and organized 4 of them. At these health fairs we screen patients for diabetes, hypertension, body fat, hyperlidpidemia...and we counsel patients how to lead healthier lifestyles. We do so much more than this video displays, and it's a shame it has the US news and world report stamp on it.

  • lol

  • Does anybody know if Obamas new medical bill will reduce the amount of money a pharmacist makes?

  • I want to be a Pharmacist... I have a Bach and Masters in Architecture so its a total career change for me... I am currently taking pre reqs for the Pharm D program and according to the load of pre reqs I have I want be able to attend Pharmacy school until 2012 but thats a sacrafice im willing to take... Im not totally strong in science of matth but i am a hard worker when i put my mind to it....

  • @RBs865732

    Try to get into medicine.

  • working in a retail pharmacy is a HELL HOLE. I would never go back to work their.. CUSTOMERS SUCK

  • really what was it like... i want to work in retail

  • @dragonfruit102

Retail pharmacy is alright, according to most pharmacists.

I doubt you are a pharmacist. You can't even write "there". Pharmacists are educated and polite, unlike you.

  • And nurses have more clinical/medicine knowledge more than pharmacists? so when i am in practice in order to obtain a patient's renal clearance, or opitmal dosage regime, do you or the nurse calculate this for the doctors within my practice? No it is the pharmacist they turn to, when a multple drug therapy needs optimising, is it the nurse the doctors turn to? Is it another working doctor in the hospital that the doctors turn to? No i am afraid it is the pharmacist they turn too...

  • Comment removed

  • Amine, i am now a fully qualified doctor, and previously a pharmacist. I had done a full 5 year pharmacy degree before going into medicine, and i can honestly say that your lack of understanding of a pharmacist's role shows pure ignorance towards the profession. You are clearly wrong when you say a nurse knows more than a pharmacist as i, from experience, can say knowledge wise of doctors and pharmacists is VERY similar. Please get your facts write before letting our your nonsense. Thank you

  • @jonathanedwards537

I'm studying Pharmacy and hoping to transfer into Medicine after the degree...

Is having a pharmacy degree as a doctor useful? Could you fulfil 2 jobs at once at a clinic?

Is pharmacy recommended to do for a pre-med program (it takes 4 years)? I was thinking of a science degree instead (3 years). Do schools discourage pharmacists from being a Doctor, since there is a shortage of pharmacists?

    Thanks

  • @ThebanPhalanx

why didn't you look that up before starting you degree!!!!

it is good to have pharmacy to transfer to medicine, in cardiff there is even a program to encourage people to do this.

but you really should have looked it up before starting.

and if you really want answers google it; don't just ask on youtube lol.

    thats in the uk btw,

  • @matty1258

Is pharmacy only about selling drugs? I want to do some pharmacology/medical research.

  • @MoonHoplite as far as i no pharmacy has a large proportion of pharmacology in it but it puts the focus on applying the pharmacological knowledge to a clinical or shop setting.Pharmacology is better for medical research, but in saying tht u can do pharmacy and go into industry. the pharmacology degree is three years like most degrees and the pharmacy is four years, and is a masters so it is not about sellin drugs. If you look up a pharmacy course thu ucas u can see get more info

  • @ThebanPhalanx @ThebanPhalanx

why didn't you look that up before starting you degree!!!!

it is good to have pharmacy to transfer to medicine, in cardiff there is even a program to encourage people to do this.

    thats in the uk btw,

  • Pharmacists don't need to be so defensive because it is a really smart health profession. Its a pity that the general public DOESN'T understand the amount of knowledge that pharmacists actually need to have. Its annoying.

  • Is there a way to find out what herbs you can mix? Or what are the cheapest herbs?

  • She was going to tell about how she made a difference in people's life, and she chose to talk about a random car accident that could have happened anywhere? O.o

  • well..... thats the only difference pharmacist can make :)))))

  • No, it's not.

  • The money is decent, but that is about the only "good" thing about job. In today's Walgreens/CVS/etc world, a pharmacist is simply a glorified pill pusher who was forced to spend WAY too much on a PharmD degree. Information that can be learned by reading books and excellent mentor. 6 years? 100,000 in debt? Higher education is a racket like nothing we have ever seen before. Don't get me wrong, pharmacists deserve respect, but don't join the field if you want an exciting career.

  • empathy? does that mean that shes sick?

  • @TheStapleremover

Some pharmacists will show true empathy, most end up sick and tired of what they believe are "junkies" fiending for an early fix. And while many do become addicted to legalized heroin or benzos because of pill pushing docs and the pharmacists who go along with the racket, most pharmacists will scoff and say take a hike junkie, go to rehab. Then, at rehab, another doc/pharmacist combo will help the "junkie" become addicted to a different chemical. So, who is the villian?

  • If you're interested in pharmacy there's a pharmacy social website. Try google search for pharmacy social.

  • why did she mention that emergency? absolutely NOTHING to do with pharmacy, just being at the right place at the right time. wow.

  • She tried to give an example of pharmacist making a difference to peoples life. As normal pharmacists' job isnt making any difference to anyone she gave the above example instead :))

  • @dchokee

It has to do with being educated in medicine and being able to help/heal other people because you know what you are doing as a doctor. It's all tied in together, if you actually paid any attention.

  • @dchokee You fucking idiot. Because being a pharmacists means you study everything a doctor does. And she was saying she was properly trained to take of the emergency until and EMT was able to arrive on scene.

    Think before you speak.

  • @TheRagePassion

You do not study everything a doctor does you dumb fuck.

  • @AWarlordsView NO your right, but you need to know all basic medical. Which is enough to wait for the EMT's you dumb fuck.

  • @TheRagePassion

YOU'RE* . Learn to spell before you try to teach me anything about the medical field.

  • @AWarlordsView Sorry, I was on my phone and couldn't be bothered to add to T9. Regardless the fact remains it's true, I know this for a fact considering my mom was a pharmacist.

  • @dchokee Some pharmacists know basic first aid, useful for taking care of bleeding, shock, etc, before paramedics arrive.

  • @amiixuh I have more confidence in Pharmacists then most Medical Doctors.

  • stopped the bleeding ???????? that is not what you go to school for. anybody could have helped a man in an accident. This girl really is BORED by her job. You can tell that pretty easily....lol

Most become pharmacists for the money these days....

  • I might do it for the money, but as long as they do there job right and dont make mistake you cant be mad with them, can you?

  • Mad? i am not mad with them....it is a job just like any other job in America.....i was just pointing out facts about the girl in the video. Pharmacists dont really do a lot ....they count pills, talk to MD's and insurance companies and maybe tell a patient or two not to mix certain drugs together....the kind of information you can get from the internet anyway....lol. But that is the job...i am not demeaning it...i am just stating the facts about it..

  • When i said mad i didnt really mean mad,You know what I mean?

But like any medical jobs they got to go to school for a while, But its more than just puting pills in a bottle or thats what I herd.

Not sure if i should go into acconunant or pharmacist.

  • @sred14

Both jobs will make you want to shoot yourself. Of course, both pay well, but a trained monkey is what you will become. Then again, money makes the world go 'round, so cash in as an accountant/pharmacist, retire early, and enjoy life until you can no longer walk and your family puts you in a home. That is the life of an accountant or pharmacist. Boredom, counting beans, pushing pills, enjoying retirement but realizing you're really to old to REALLY enjoy it. Then you die.

  • fully agree

  • @ amine6513

Pharmacists don't count pills, thats a pharmacy technicians job.

Wow, and the internet is not really a reliable source of information about drugs, any old fool can write information. Maybe we shouldn't go to school, I guess we could learn that off the internet too or shouldn't go to the doctor, because we can treat ourselves by making a diagnosis based on website.

You guys ever here of a hospital pharmacist, you are on the floor doing rounds with the rest of the medical team.

  • First, i was exaggerating about the info you find online. of course some of it is crap, and of course a pharmacist can be well informed. But as far as diagnosing a patient.....That is not included in their scoop of practice even in a hospital setting. I am sure pharmacists work hard for the money they get paid.. ...i just do not think the job requires 8 years of college!!! like medecine or a phD in science .....just a personal opinion.

  • That is a misguided opinion. Its not a matter counter pills or insurance info, that stuff will be automated in the next 5-10 years.

There are hundreds of potential drug interactions that pharmacists need to know, understand correct dosages and dosage forms, over the counter advice (for the thousands of drugs available) and other health information that people randomly ask.

Doctors make a shitload of mistakes, and when you have 300-400 rx to go through a day, you need to know your stuff.

  • Pharmacists also have the right to prescribe continuing prescriptions in certain states/provinces, be certified in training diabetics or other diseases, give needles and flu shots.

Pharmacists also need to know certain aspects of diagnosis (i.e. when is it appropriate to give over the counter medications or when does the patient need to go see a doctor for an issue like a rash or eye infection).

You need appropriate schooling for all that, thats WHY it takes many years, and you get paid well.

  • bottom line is pharmacists today are not what they use to be in the past which is a good chemist that knows how to make a drug and administer it for a full medicinal effect. what they do today is something a pharmacy tech can be qualified to do. it is just the explosion of drug manufacturing by pharmaceutical companies in the last decade that fueled the need for "pharmacists" to make them more of a salesmen than medical providers. even an RN knows more about Healthcare than a pharmacist does.

  • @amine6513 U should get a glass of cold water and THROW it on your face to wake you up....are you in a Pharma based career??? If u are then u r nuts, if not Shut the fish up...

  • Shut the fish up??????? hilarious...lol

its an opinion....get over it and dont be uptight ...and yes iam in the pharmaceutical industry and i know what i am talking about ...

  • @amine6513 I have to laugh at the misinformed ignorance of this comment. After 8 years of college I am a number of this but a salesman is not one of them. I am the pharmacy manager of a Walgreens in Southern California. This past week I have administered about 100 vaccinations for H1N1, Shingles and Hep B, calculated ANC counts for clozapine patients, Creatinine clearances for renal dosage adjustments and compounded capsules of hormone replacement therapy. $150,000+ a year. I am not a salesman.

  • Salesman is of course a stretch...pharmacists do know more about drugs than salesmen. what you said about vaccination is not impressive...a 6 month trained medical assistant can do that ..no problem. Everything else you listed is something a pharmacy tech can do as you well know. Tell me what skills distinguishes you from the rest? if it was not for the boom in pharmaceuticals in the past 10 years..believe me you would not make nearly as much as you do now. not hating on you..just stating facts.

  • @amine6513 Clearly you have know idea what you are talking about. A pharmacy technician would not even know what an ANC is or what equation to use for renal adjustments or what medications would require one for that matter. Yes a MA could administer a vaccination but what I do (Broly278-sons SN) is screen patients to make sure they meet CDC guidelines and counsel them on what other vaccinations they should receive write the order then administer. An MA is told by the doctor hey give this shot.

  • @amine6513 And if you think a nurse knows more about medications, pharmacokinetics, delivery systems, mechanisms of action of drugs you are on drugs. I spend all day correcting medications that they are trying to call in from MD. Some times they have no idea what the drug they are calling in is... The call starts like this.. "I don't know what this is let me spell it for you..." They are an integral part of our health care system but what you need to understand is the amount of medications

  • you still did not convince me at all......i know nurses, paramedics, and other health care providers that know all about the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs...you yourself still rely on you little reference book and online libraries to find out about drugs new and old....that is not a big deal....i am all aware of the classes you took in pharmacy school...and you can talk all you want about you knowledge in chemistry....i assure you it is no where near what real chemists know...

  • @amine6513 that exist now have increased 100 fold since the time of these pharmacists of old you speak of who were such great chemists.... I have had years of formal education in chemistry, organic, physical and medicinal so I can say with certainty that I know more than an MD about the medications I dispense.

  • @amine6513,

You've never actually worked in a compounding pharmacy or hospital have you? Pharmacists are the backups for doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and drug manufacturers. Every drug manufacturer has pharmacists on quality control. They're the utility player of drug-based medicine.

  • is she related to michael phelps

  • How important is getting a bachelor's before applying???

I'm in the middle of my psych bachelor's and I'm not doing too well. But, I'm interning as a pharm tech now, and loving it, so I'd rather take my pre-pharm pre-reqs and keep it moving onto pharm school.

  • pharm tech is ok , I wouldnt like to b apharmacist thuogh

  • I am really not that good at Math. I love the understanding of Biology, and Chemistry well If I study I will get. But if I wanted to become a pharmisct, is it necesarriy to be a math genius????? I want to go into that career, but I am scared that I may not make it due to the math......

  • hahaha i dont know squat about math and i am one ...

  • How much math is required to become a pharmicist?

  • well there is a course u take in the 1st year that is all about algebra and stuff like that , u also have a course about termodynamics that requires calculations and u got chemisrty which ebvolves the use of simple math but to b a good pharmicist u gotta have a good memmory its not about being a mathmatician ....

  • finished AT LEAST CALCULUS 2 (plus STATS)out of 4 !!!

  • the money is good,huh?

  • well that is reality in this proffession which is a pity

  • this job is boring, can you imagine just standing behind a counter all day handing out pills

  • Handing out pills behind a counter is only one of many different tasks a pharmacist does. A pharmacist's job can be as rewarding and fun as working for drug research institutions hoping to find a cure for diseases like AIDS, Altsheimer, ...etc.

  • YEAH, but most of us are standing behind a counter all day tired and bored to death :(

  • better than doing it in the streets

  • Shes haught

  • KirbyPwnz13. Not lame. Critical job. Rx's save lives in clinical, hospital and retail locations. They manage drug delivery for patients before administered by nurses and technicians. That is a life critical responsibility. They have to know all of the possible drug interactions and ADVISE the physician about the patients drug protocol. They know more about drugs than doctors and are paid very well. >$100 k /year on avg.

  • You first of all have to get your preliminary classes, science and math.biology, etc.

You learn how to interpret prescriptions, Rx math, how medicines interact and different classes of medicines etc. Best to call and speak with department in Rx. school. Look up any Pharmacy School program and view their course list. It is a financially rewarding and noble profession. Dallas grad at CVS earns 127k yr.

  • thank you. also, would u say that the classes are interesting. because if i enjoy the classes, then the 6 years would go by quick. also im really good at math, will that help? in additon, i live really close to rutgers and if i want to be a pharmacist i think i might want to go to a 6 year pharmacy school like rutgers. Have you heard anything about rutgers?

  • ... I'm 12 years old, and it'd be really nice if someone can tell me how I can become ready to get accepted into a pharmacy school, because I know that thousands of people here in Vancouver, BC apply and only 150-200 people get accepted, so the competition is really tight. Can people please reply me some hints or tips on how I can be ready? I'm going into high school so what type of classes should I take? Do I have to take both Physics AND Chemistry? Etc etc., please help me.

  • It is refreshing to see such a young person showing interest. You just need to be solid in math, chemistry, biology and have very good reading comprehension. physics is not really necessary. I am certain if you get a PT technician job that would help on your application and recommendations.

  • Don't I need to go to pharmacy school to become a PT technician..?.. I'm confused. ^^" Please explain the schooling system?

  • why would you need physics??? u need chemistry and biology mostly

  • how can you understand chemistry without physics????

  • u dont have to do physics...u can understand chem with an understanding of mathematics.

  • martin's physical pharmacy discusses physical properties. I guess it has a little physics applied?

  • u do need some physics...to operate some equipment.

  • shes a drug dealer for fucks sake

  • shes a dealer for legal drugs dumbass

  • your the fucking drug dealer

  • Hey kids, hands up who can tell me what a Pharmacy is called in England, traditionally?

  • apothecary

  • Not quite. I mean, if you went to get some aspirin in London in 1953, where would you go?

  • Pharmacy or Chemist

  • Im a first year pharmacy student and they make us take sociology classes...and I dont know y cause they are useless!!!

  • hi im a 15 year old straight A student, and i'm spending a few late nights of my summer trying to figure out what i wanna be when i grow up. and becoming a pharmacist is something i might want to do. So to make this descision a lot easier for me, can you please answer this question: WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU LEARN IN PHARMACY SCHOOL? PLEASE BE SPECIFIC. thank you :D

  • Year 1: You learn the foundations. You take biochemistry, diseases, pharmacy math, and different dosage forms/how they are made and what's in them.

Year 2: Learn about the drugs in great detail. There are so many drugs and the effects range big time. Very challenging. Also, the chemistry of drugs and what effects they have.

Year 3: Applying all of your knowledge to actual patients. The core of it is to treat disease states with what's practiced.

  • That is so unfair, I've just done my a' levels and am going to start next year, it's going to take me 5 years as in the UK, there's no bachelor of pharmacy, you can only do a masters here..totalli pathetic...

  • theres no bachelor in the U.S. either. Pharmacy is a 6 year program and it might even turn to an 8 year program. most ppl take 8 years b/c 4 year degree plus 4 years of pharmacy schoool. Year 1 is actually year 5, but year 1 is the first year of pharmacy school.

  • Sorry i meant 4 years in England, just found out...^ 8 years????? How you going to last at uni for that long...you'll end up a schizo, but worry not what ever happens will happen for a reason...xx

  • what are THE REQUIREMENTS CLASSes TO BECOME A PHARAMIST????????

what type of math n Wut type of SCIENCE????????

  • organic chemistry I and II

    calculus

    biology

    anatomy

    physics I and II

    and thats just pre-pharmacy

  • I just finished high school, and going to a community college currently,,I dont know how its gonna go, since im pursuing my career as a pharmacist..any tips?

  • well since you're doing your pre-requisites i assume you're going to apply to pharmacy college. working as a pharmacy tech and volunteering @ health care facilities will up your chances of getting accepted. pharmacy school is high competition so you'll be glad you did that. and once you get into pharm. college DON'T GET BEHIND ever

  • Pharmacists check the prescription to see if the right drug is given and to make sure there are no interactions. Like once, a doctor gave an antidiabetic to a patient instead of an anticholesterol and that patient nearly died. Pharmacists are the safety net.

Pharmacists also teach the patient how to use devices like insulin pens and inhalers properly as doctors don't have the time. Pharmacists also talk to the patient more, and this helps as the patient fells more attention is given to him/her.

  • The doctor is always busy and never has time. Not like pharmacists they are sitting on their arses all day long doing nothing so please give me more jobs. I would love to explain to patients not only how to use inhalers and insulin pens (all is very well explained in Patient Information Leaflet but since we are not busy.....) but also how to walk and breath and speak and use pen knife and how to operate a sewing machine and ..............fo

  • Lame ass job. No offence to anyone.

  • Expand your point. Surely a pharmacist is a vital part of the community that helps the sick and needy?

  • i changed somebody's life because i gave them a prescription. HA thats so lame

  • How is it lame? She did change someone's life. She saved it. How else was the patient going to get the medication they needed to survive? Dumb fuck. That's the pharmacists job, to give medication to people who need it to survive.

  • so what at least we do something good

  • its so lame when people say " i changed person life" psshhhhh u gave them there persription. dosnt seem very life changing to me.

  • I busted a patient last week for forging scripts and selling prescription drugs on the street. She's gonna spend some time in jail, I definitely changed her life ;).

  • hahaaaa

  • brilliant :)

  • @stealthturboX2

    dick move

    ha

  • - Chemistry through Biochem including General Chem and Organic Chem

    - Physics

    - Biology though Microbiology including general biology

    - Math through Calculus II including Stats

    - English

I think that's the list of requirements for your prereqs. I also took Immunology and Genetics with some other core electives.

  • Bachelor of Science

    Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science)

    Bachelor of Science (Biophysical Science)

    Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience)

    Bachelor of Health Science

which course leads you to pharm school or as a pharmacist?

  • is pharmacist a good job ? I'm going to study it in 2 months so im looking for details :P

  • EXCELLENT Career. You can also get advanced degree at your employers expense and go into Pharmacy management. Very rewarding and lucrative.

  • Are you crazy?

From Pharmaceutical society or something like that?

  • what University courses do we need in high school in order to go 4 pharmacist? can some one help...plzzz

    thnnxxx...:D

  • I did biology and chemistry and i was studying literature and art lol :D In my country we need chemistry biology and 1 language.

  • is pharmary more scoped and valued than mbbs?????

  • bein' a pharmacist isn't bad if u wanna sell dexamphetamine 2 five year old kids. get a load o' these gutless spineless things.

  • this is the lamest video of a pharmacist, ever!

She didn't seem to get into it and saying "doing the same thing" will only reinforce how boring the job is.

I think being a pharmacist is not bad if you want a life and a stable career in healthcare but this video just simply doesn't show that. Talk to your pharmacist for more information.

  • n00b

  • self brainwashed drug pushers, even my local docters will say so.

  • pharmacists are the most respected professionals in the world.

    Go Pharmacists...

  • Liar :))

  • Next the hard part comes in: getting accepted. There are so many applicants these years you really need a degree or do very well in you prereqs to be accepted. Once you get in though, just smooth sailing for 4 years till you get you degree.

You do have to deal with awful people sometime, but when you make a difference in that one person's life, it is totally worth it. Plus making ~130k this year (2 years out of school) aint too shabby either ;).

    Good Luck

  • I just graduated a year ago from the University of New Mexico. Its a great career choice and once you get done your easily making 6 figures in this economy.

Starting out of high school the best course of action is to talk to a pharmacy advisor about the prerequisite classes you need to take. They usually include up to organic and/or bio chemistry, up to calculus 2, up to microbiology, and some stats and english classes.

  • Then learn how to properly spell Pharmacist.

  • I just graduated high school, and my career goal is to be a pharmasist, like the real thing. But i have no idea where to start, or what degrees are needed, or what school to go to. can anyone help

  • Hi Summaderazin1

You need to go to at least a 2 year college and get science classes for pharmacy requirement, then take PCAT, and just apply to any pharmacy school in the country. Some schools are 4 yrs and others are 3 yrs (for 3 yrs program, it is a little hectic and I would recommend a bachelor degree before applying). However, get some experience by working at drug stores to see how you like. good lucj and hope it helps p/s I am in my last yr of pharmacy program.

  • lies

  • My dad's a Pharmacist, so that's my career plan!

  • bad choice

  • good pay but boring job

  • Retail can be boring. Consider clinical pharmacy instead.

  • I think to become a Pharmacist! I'll have to see how the next few years of my life go

  • This is a well paid profession, if you're a genius, have no life & don't mind 12 hrs/day study for a decade of undergrad and postgrad plus training, 6 figure debt, then later getting wiped out by Universal Health Care by Obama

  • Actually, the classes in Pharmacy are not that difficult...the problem is SO MUCH is thrown at a person at one time.

A PharmD only requires six years. Where do you get a decade of school from?

Stop the FUD about Universal Health Care.

    Grow up.
