first of all i jizzed a bit, also i like that they when back to the anime art stile rather than the 3d images they had on the one for the ds. its also interesting that they added thing of 2 units doing back to back attacks, reminds me of the knight trio attack from FE7. bad ass

Shadow Dragon did not suck. Admittedly compared to the fluid battle animations from the GBA Fire Emblem games, Shadow Dragon did disappoint with battle sequences that lacked the zest and liveliness of those attacks found in its sprite-heavy predecessors. Nevertheless it was still an excellent RPG game all around.

Watching this trailer however has got me all excited once more! The battle animations now look souped up and hopefully the other characters won't dissapoint! Game-wise I've no worries.

You guys know why FE12 didn't make it outside of Japan? Because you ingrates (no offense, but it's kind of true) complained that Shadow Dragon sucked for the most trivial reasons. For example, people complained about the bad graphics during a fight (I'll admit they're bad. Unlike you, I don't care for them and enjoy the game), the reclass system, and the game's simplicity (it's a remake of a NES/Famicom game, what did you expect?). Rant continued in next comment...

For example, you can fight people over Wi-Fi, buy rare and useful items over Wi-fi, rent units from friends over Wi-fi, reclass a unit, forge weapons from one of your own weapons, and my favorite, merge two of the same weapon to restore its use. No offense, Shadow Dragon haters would just complain again if they released FE12 over here. Rant concluded in next comment.

@DarkenForay Not Final Fantasy. It's a Strategy RPG, similar to Advance Wars. It has some similar elements (read: good story and gameplay) but is a whole other genre for the most part. Its a really great series and I would definitely try it out.

To any DS or 3DS owners, if you've never played Fire Emblem, I would highly recommend Shadow Dragon in the mean time until this game launches. A touch screen is by far the best way to play these games. I'm definitely reserving this and I hope a new Advance Wars will be on the way before long also.

Advance Wars actually sells better and gets a bigger reception it's kind of funny because FE is also made by these guys so you think the fans would warm up to it but they don't. When it comes to sales you think it would do better because of these attributes but it doesn't.

The ability to gang at least two units on an enemy unit looks interesting. Hopefully, they know what they are doing with it though. If done correctly, it could a standard feature; just like rescuing. I hope that they bring back the MU. That was an interesting idea. The only I would do is balance him/her more out. I am also hoping that they balance out the map system (we know what happened with FE8).

The new portraits are rather animeish, but at least they ditch Shadow Dragon's.

It's likely you'll be waiting forever for an official release. Nintendo seem more 3DS focused now.

Similar to Mother3, both released late in the console's life while the next console is being promoted and pushed.
