I became an aero engineer and naval aviator largely because of the influence of Russell Johnson! And I really didn't understand this until I bought the Gilligan DVD set for my 4 yr old daughter. Basically whatever the Professor said on that show was like gospel to me. Too funny! He was so utterly convincing.
Favorite Professor scene: his over the top Old Man in the Jack and the Beanstalk episode, where he kisses Mary Ann after convincing her that he's really a Prince.

I was honor to have briefly meet and talk to him. He lives on Bainbridge, Wash. Down to earth and humble.
