i had just seen the movie and let me tell you it was alright but i really wish it was a true story the ending stank and the brad pitt dident have much of a part...=(
i too like Quentin's movies he is also my favorite director i have all of his movies and i got inglourious basterds. you may find it kind if weird but im only 13 and i want to be a director when i grow up. what college did you or still go to?
That was truly a real sincere review dude...well done! Tarantino Delivers.....like he does most often. Quick question: did anyone notice there's no "Trunk Shot" in this movie? ........Whatever, this one goes right up in my list along with Pulp Fiction..... the Basterds Rule!
Well, Donnie and Omar kill Hitler and shoot up his face, then die in the fire. It was a suicide mission so... Aldo and his liutenant make a deal with the Nazi colonel (I forget his name) to tell America that the colonel is responsible for the death of Hitler and ending World War 2. In exchange, the colonel will let them go. Of course, this doesn't happen. As soon as the colonel stops to let them go in the woods, Aldo shoots the Nazi's bodyguards and eventually lets the colonel go........
As I was saying, they let the colonel go but not without BRUTALLY AND SLOWLY CARVING A SWASTIKA INTO THE COLONELS HEAD. You REALLY should see this part because its the best part of the movie. "I'ma give you somethin you can't take off." And thats how the movie ends. Aldo ends it by admiring his work and saying "I think this might just be my masterpiece" BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!
I snuck into this film and didn't get to see what happens near the end. I'm at the part where the theater is on fire and the basterds are shooting a whole lotta Nazis. Someone tell me what happens.

I think it was shit , com on the movie was just did stick and it was all over the place i say it was quite shit movie , sorry tarantino fans , I am brad pitt fan i think he is good but a bit disappointed .
thats cause it wasn't a war movie. it was a movie about war but it could not be categorized like another war movie because it didn't concentrate on the fighting. it was a movie about an alternate end to world war II not a war movie. try seeing it again without any expectations and let it surprise you. i admit it was a LONG movie and got a little slow but otherwise a great film just try not to expect too much from it.
And it was great. For one, it was a test for Shosanna to see if she would let it slip that she was jewish. Add to that, it was another way to show how Landa was so creepy and chilling through his politeness and well manners. The way he was even eating the strudel was just eery and distasteful.
yes i like, it was also to show that people still create movies that they can make it as long as they want and dont care about the typical audience... as long as they carried out what they wanted
And what's so bad about not caring about the "typical" audience? The "typical" audience is just going to see Gamer the following week and love every minute of it.
I would watch Colonel Landa slowly eat the corners of a piece of white toast and talk about the different ways you can cook and serve rice for 3 days back-to-back. It's Tarantino-the irrelevant dialogue is his trademark.
Anyone who watches this film and then says: "SO THATS HOW WW2 ENDED!." is fucking retarded. Clearly, this film is not intended to me a historical drama. It is set in a totally hyper-bombastic version of Nazi occupied France. Criticizing the movie for not being true to history is just stupid.
A couple of clarifications for our more simple minded brethren.
1) The film is spelled incorrectly ON PURPOSE.
2) It is not screwing up history (Braveheart, Enigma etc), it is set in an alternate reality.
I loved it, never thought you could die with dignity by getting your balls shot off. I was wrong. Loved that chapter. And Melanie Laurent is a goddess.
I dunno. Brad had his moments in this film, though I agree with you on Cristoph Waltz. If he doesn't get an Oscar for his performance in this one, I'm kicking the Academy's ass.

I didn't think the movie was good for a quentin film... Might not agree with me, but the action was lacking. The only things that really saved the movie from completely sucking was Brad Pitt and the German Villain.
I dont know, I thought everything was just so well done that even the bar scene was good. When he threw the "3 glasses" it got really intense but the leadup was great too.
This movie was unnecessarily long. Though the action scenes were extremely brutal and intense. And the movie IN GENERAL was very well done... but 2 hours and 30 minutes was way too long for this film.
I saw this movie about 2 hours ago and your review is 99% perfect. It was almost 3 hours, which when you are sitting in a theater for that long & you are a heavy smoker and you see these actors lighting a cigarette every 5 minutes... It makes it seem like a 5 hour movie.
But with that said, I'm glad it was that long, because every minute was more awesome than the last... The last chapter had me pumped up, I didn't have any clue what would happen next so the anxiety just pumps through you.
Great film, I only kinda thought chapter 3 dragged on for too long but the suspense in it was amazing. Also chapter 5 is just so superb and as good a finale that it could give the last chapter of Pulp Fiction a run for it's money.
You couldn't have reviewed it better. Everything you said in that review was exactly what i was thinking after i saw the movie. Also i bleive i heard Harvy Keitel's voice on the phone at the end.
wat was so bad about it?? it was a great movie!! the only thing i dont agree with this guy is that it was a very slow movie ha, but i dont mind slow movies

This movie is another over-hyped film that can't possibly live up to it's reputation. The casting of Brad Pitt, Eli Roth and Mike Myers was terrible. Each role could have been played perfectly by other actors but all of the characters fell flat with these particular actors portraying them. The writing was good in many scenes. And the actors who played The Jew Hunter and the girl who owns the movie theater were excellent but if you haven't liked a Tarantino film since Jackie Brown

Nice review. I have been in eager anticipation to see this film for a while now, well, since I've read the screenplay in fact. I thought it was wonderful on paper and I imagine it's fantastic on the screen.

I saw this last night in Melbourne. I didn't dig it as much as you. Don't get me wrong, it was really good, but I have very high standards for tarantino films. My fav film of all time is also reservoir dogs, and I don't think basterds was as good as that. like kill bill, i think it would have been better if he made 2 movies or a miniseries out of it, coz it does go too quick, so many characters that feel like they're just introduced and then the film's over. the prequel might work, we'll see.

The movie had its moments but it was falsely marketed as a "Men on a mission/Dirty Dozen" style film and it wasn't this at all.
The stuff with the Basterds felt like it belongedin a completely different movie to that of the Jewish girl who owns the cinema.
Also, there was no way that story required a two and a half hour running time to tell.
