Now that I think of it, paintball and airsoft aren't too different from this. Last Airsoft game I played, I made a big company banner and waved it the whole game, and had a foam sword I occasionally hit people with. And, when we were playing our annual big paintball game, we had a narrative to go along with it.
The only difference I can see is that playing the airsoft might help you more as practice for a real life confrontation. Can't remember the last time I saw a guy with a sword and shield walking down my street asking for a fight.
