Well the KLF did in effect make us all richer, mentally as their music is just sublime bliss, and financially, as burning a million quid makes us all about half a pence richer. As much as it irritates me little things like the fact we're only likely to hear the Black Room after Drummonds died, I'm glad they were mad fuckers. Please come back KLF!

Your right stanepoke, money was not their motivation, and in fact such was their disgust for the music corporations, they burned 2 million $ in cash on a remote Scottish island and stopped recording music. Pity, way ahead of anyone even by todays standards..
Amazing.com I love what the KLF did, the less commercial remixes(moody boys etc) were so much better than the mainstream money makers.
They were obviously never about money which has to be respected.....but so many people miss access to their current outlets....whether it be Art, Music, Speech or just plain and simple Anarchy!!
i first got to hear this great track about 10 years ago a old friend had the 500 copies1 and absolutly love it friend moved and i never got to hear it again untill now thankx for the upload that bass line has never left my head what a track up in my top 10 tracks of all time
i still have about 50 copies of this white label in my loft (two mates and myself did the original bootleg after we managed to 'borrow' one of the original 6 only test pressings. I remember the 500 copies turning up, and then us sitting up all night with soldering irons, as we melted away the pressing plant's info on the run out groove!
i have this on white label - klf madrugada eterna (club mix) edizione speciale numereo /500. i bought it of a mate over 10 years back (cheers stewart!) it came with a free sticker. it's one of the ultimate klf tracks.
Yes, but that were the late 80`s and the early `90s! Of course that you can`t compare them to today`s bands and their music. That would be an unfair comparison! First of all, the instruments, and the whole technology was not so sophisticated as it is today!
Why oh why did the KLF give up on making music? One of the greatest bands of all, but I think they probably didn't realise it. Chill Out truly seminal.
@myshkin I think The KLF gave up on making music was probably because their success got too massive and it's stopped being fun for them. They probably decided that rather than run the risk of making music for all the wrong reasons, they'd be better off going out on top with a big bang rather than fade away into oblivion.
@RocStarr913 Probably right. Maybe cld have done what teh Waterboys did - get away from it all & go hang out in the rural west of Ireland for a couple of years.
@myshkin I feel the same. On closer inspection though they knew exactly what they were doing. They quit while they were ahead and became legendary for exactly that reason.
@HOLICEtv Well they certainly left a legacy, though I'd still far prefer KLF music than Bill Drummond's books, good though they may be, or pretty silly no-impact stuff like that 17 thing. If it no longer felt right though twas their call.
@dindjic Well if they fel thte inspiration had dried up then that's a good enough reason to give up but I don't think their music was about 'fighting against' stuff; it was about exhaling their inner selves, that's what made it & makes all the great blissed out music so liberating, it isn't tethered to the negative.
@CrazyInsanelikeafox Hi there. I was bonging along back then too bt didntcome across this mix till seeing it here. Afraid though I'm not the guy who's uploaded this - ArtofMuMu's the man. Good luck in finding it.
they recorded a few tracks after this under the name "the justified ancients of mu mu" but only released 1 track called "fuck the millennium". it was billed as a comeback single but in fact it was to mock the notion of a comeback. they gave up music in 92 after becoming fed up with the music industry (hence the protest at the 92 brit awards and after show party) they could see it was all about money and not about music
@andycraig75 But if everyone 'real' surrendered to the music industry, then there'd be nothing left but shite. An artist creates art, in this case music, he doesn't whine about how awful the world is and sulk in some corner.
@andycraig75 They just got tied of their own joke at the music industry.People were taking them too seriously.Besides Drummond's book talked about mainstream media only being about money. But they were electronic music pioneers anyway.Love how they coined the term "stadium house" for KLF.
@myshkin They knew it alright, but they didn't like the idea of the corporate record chiefs making money on anything that they made... when they "Retired" the only "re-appeared" for about 23 mins as 2K and did a track supporting the Liverpool Dockers...
This gives me so much pleasure every time I watch it and that is a lot of pleasure......
