I have a theory that connects dots showing the Beach Boys are to blame for the flood of foreigners blowing past normal protocol for legal citizenship ... as who in their right mind wouldn't want to immediately live in a place where such wonderful music was emanating from?
@guyNbluejeans Even in Mexico they used to have world class singers-songwriters. There was Javier solis, the greatest mariachi singer whose number one fan was none other than blue eyes, Frank sinatra. Today it's just Tex-Mex and all that horrible stuff.
@John1948OneC2 Jan and Dean could cover the Beach boys. I bet if you went to a club and requested a Beach Boys song you would never hear it. The harmony is to difficult to copy and the music is very complex .
@xxdonaldqxxx Well, there is one called the Fendertones you can find some of their videos here. But, they have like 14 or 15 guys on stage! You're right it really can't be done.
@xxdonaldqxxx Singers, who are able to sing in such highest standards like The Beach Boys are rare or originals. Originals don´t need to cover...they make their own music!
@coolsweetgroovy Yes it is sad, and as I posted at another version, I did not even know Al was the lead singer until a few months ago. And I played this song over and over again as the flip side of my favorite Beach Boys 45 at the time: Barbara Ann (1965?). I had no idea it was popular until years later. It is one of those songs that sneak up on radio audiences such as Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues (a U.S. hit 5 years after its release) and She's Come Undone by the Guess Who.
@coolsweetgroovy Yeah Cool, the flip side of a 45 was always a dog. We did not have MTV or VH1. So we were clueless about who was singing lead except I suppose those with a musical ear. We had only 3 channels, which were called a "vast wasteland" way back then. Al brought Sloop John B. to Brian in a 3 beat mode instead of the original 2 beat mode, which he knew Brian would reject. It was an old 1920's song! Brian changed just a few words. Al never got any credit.
why does Mike always do the Elf dance on every fast song?

@guyNbluejeans Today? I don't think so! Those wonderful times of incredible, amazing, charismatic singers and songwriters are almost extinct. :-(
