Thanks for taking the time to comment on your experience. We all learn that these things are not as easy as they sound. The other tip that you need to point out is that this machine wants to work on level ground in a straight line and is awkward and heavy and hard to steer and generally a poorly designed piece of equipment. It was one of my most disappoiting experiences when I first used it and spent more time fighting with the equipment than I spent doing the job.
Really, the ground was so dry and hard, I see that effect coming to pass as extremely remote. It is probably worse with the dry spell right now. The whole line to be dug probably would need to be soaked a bit to start for it would be like digging cement, almost. and it would be drier come backfill time. No one was making a flood in the shooting of this video/ execution of this work.
Water tip is excellent but if you have a long stretch to do it would be faster and safer to rent a mini skid steer plus trencher attachment because in most cases (espescially a SK 650) the momentum and weight of a mini is superior.
Don't leave the controls and let the trencher go on it's own. If it hits anything solid it can and will jump out of the hole and may get you if you're too close to the chain. It can rip your legs off in a second.
Mil Gracias, my friend. Yeah, I've heard a lot of people saying to let it walk itself for a straight trench. Well, you've skillfully pointed out why not to do so. Thanks,
Hey, thanks--I'm doing good but so busy that I don't reply until 4 days later? Sorry but, ah well, work, school and study. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. :-)

Not the straightest of Trenches.

I own a DW 1220 trencher and here's a tip:
Don't leave the controls and let the trencher go on it's own. If it hits anything solid it can and will jump out of the hole and may get you if you're too close to the chain. It can rip your legs off in a second.

What about job security for a poor latino?? Damn you.
maworeb 4 years ago
Ha ha! Well, anyone, including latinos, will still work their ass off trying to control this machine and there's always backfilling the hole. :-)
Thanks for commenting.

I miss her too, but heres the thing...
YOU-TUBE is "NOT GOOD" for Audrey. She has a lot of Relatively Serious PHYSCOLOGICAL / EMOTIONAL ISSUES.
She's the real thing... It's pretty like having a camera looking into a room at a mental health clinic when she used to make videos.
I wish her nothing but the best.
But she really is better off without all the YOU-TUBE nonsense.
