  • homeric, Queen Victoria is much nicer than any Holland America ship, even though they are built on the same frames. Also, these chaps are quite stodgy.

  • She may indeed be nicer than any Holland America vessel, that is all individual. But, looking the Vicky over it is again disappointing to see Carnival's hand-me-down approach to design. So many elements have been carried over, lights, furniture, cabins, room design (the Grand Foyer is a slightly modified from Princess Cruise design's and given to the QM2 as well). Her casino chairs are the same as an Princess as well. Carnival's design approach is to keep it as cheap as possible and it shows.

  • Having just seen the new Eurodam she actually achieved the impossible. Something as devoid of creativity and inspiration as the Victoria actually looks "demure" and "elegant" when compared to that floating brick. Another huge disappoinment! Carnival, w/their insatiable need for more cabins built the stern section up, looking absolutely horrible. The Eurodam literally looks like a floating brick! An absolute horrible addition to the industry but afterall that is what Carnival does best!

  • You could sail on any Holland America vessel to experieince the exterior as the Vicky was built originally for Holland America. Holland America uses real teak decking, Carnival gave the Vicky plastic planks. You could sail the QM2 and see the highlights on the Vicky as much was "transplanted". The rest came from Princess Cruises who designed the Vicky and happen to manage Cunard. She's not ugly by any means, just a mix of old designs that were once successful but now look safe, tired and old.
