I'm a seasoned Shotokan practitioner and abit new to grappling, i'm trying to pick up afew basic moves and self teach with a partner(with alot of caution ofcourse), i find your explanation style easy and the over demonstration looks abit realistic compared to most step-by-step videos. I realized that Wrestling pays alot more detail to takedowns where as BJJ is more about the ground not too much emphasis on HOW TO GET THERE.
@desertamazon for self defense bjj has enough takedowns since nobody except a wrestler will counter them. The biger problem for bjj is that hardly any schools do takedowns and defenses against a striking opponent. For mma bjj is piss poor on takedowns.
@desertamazon judo sambo greco roman and believe or not sumo are the arts that specializing the clinch game. fedor and machida have down to a science are hardly dominated in the clinch. other notables in the clinch game would have to be randy couture and karo.
yep, difficult to cover every single technical point when teaching techniques, more than 5 points and you loose people. This video was demonstrating basics of stance and simple defense.
Like every position, there are pro's and con's. The challenge for wrestlers is to not eat knees due to habit of leaving hips out for throws, whereas a good wrestler can get body locks & lifts easier when opponent's hips are forward. Pretty complex subject to cover comprehensively with all details here.
well not really its not like hee going to stay there for ever its just a defence to get lose as soon as his hips go in and his back straight right away he does next what he has to do to get out but i took muay thai we dont grab the ear i think thats weak
You might want to get off your Nintendo Wii and go to Las Vegas and show Mike Pyle & Randy Couture (since they teach this technique)
These 2 "clinch defense" critique comments are funny. People should save time commenting & polluting a good thing, instead of just showing your ignorance.
Great instruction. Is Jeff available for seminars overseas??

the clinch defences leaves himself open for very very hard knees on his left ribs, then right.
