Iran must respond positively to the women's freedom movement. They are taking away women's identity as humans. Give them their rights and equality and Iran's strenth will double when they have "full citizens" of women joining the ranks of men and can stand side by side with them. They interviewed some people in the streets that although reluctant say they are not happy but there are also others who demonstrate satisfaction. I suspect that actual situation in Iran is also a fruit of populism and thus intelectuals and scholars have no hope for a way out. It is very sad.

In all honesty, Iran's current situation is all the US and UK's fault, for overthrowing Mossadegh in the first place. The autocratic rule of the Shah, despite his modernization efforts, is not to be lauded either. That said, the US has a failed foreign policy because they think Iraq and Afghanistan are the keys to a stable Middle East/Central Asia, etc, when in reality, the only hope for stability in that region is a free and prosperous Iran.

Hijab is not a symbol of modesty but a symbol of the depravity of men. To wear it a woman is saying that men are depraved animals who cannot control their sexual urges; hence, every man is a rapist. They interviewed some people in the streets that although reluctant say they are not happy but there are also others who demonstrate satisfaction. I suspect that actual situation in Iran is also a fruit of populism and thus intelectuals and scholars have no hope for a way out. It is very sad.

In all honesty, Iran's current situation is all the US and UK's fault, for overthrowing Mossadegh in the first place. The autocratic rule of the Shah, despite his modernization efforts, is not to be lauded either. That said, the US has a failed foreign policy because they think Iraq and Afghanistan are the keys to a stable Middle East/Central Asia, etc, when in reality, the only hope for stability in that region is a free and prosperous Iran.

Hijab is not a symbol of modesty but a symbol of the depravity of men. To wear it a woman is saying that men are depraved animals who cannot control their sexual urges; hence, every man is a rapist. When someone tells me I'm not allowed to do something, my 1st instinct is to want to go and do it. I'm not forced to wear the hijab, but i do anyway. But if i was being forced, i prob wouldn't want to wear it. I hope that Iranians find peace.

Not only Women had rights but also the minority!! As a female child growing up in Iran I wasnt forced to cover myself. I was able to play outside with my friends like a normal child. Its a SIN to have a toddler cover her head - just because these so called MEN would not be tempted, or whatever the justification is for it.
