I dont want to transition, but i was thinking of taking T to develop a more androgynou look, thin out an muscle up, if my doses are really small, can i minimise the hair growth?

@freakinhotdancer You can't really pick and choose what you want to get out of T. You could take a DHT blocker, which would block conversion to T to DHT... DHT plays a huge role in masculinization, including facial hair growth. However, that would also block the stuff you want from DHT. Plus, there's no way to tell how such a cocktail would affect your hormonal balance. Hormonal balance is kind of like a house of cards, and being out of balance can have all kinds of negative affects on health.

It's possible to take too much T. When that happens, it can be converted to estriadol (estrogen), negatively affecting virilization. I don't want to go there!

In my case, there is no "they." I manage my own treatment now, and have regular blood work to make sure my levels are OK.

it's been 8 years for me. i struggled for about 3 years before "finding" my new voice, and must keep working on it, yet is still about 5 to 6 steps lower in register, and very limited in range. but that's a bit of an improvement over a complete octave lower from a couple years ago.

what i find is extended singing makes it worse, so don't strain or sing for hours.

As a singer myself, listening to the changes in your singing voice over time has utterly fascinated me.

I feel your pain on the bit about songs lost because of range issues, because since I finished high school I haven't really kept my voice in shape so there is a lot that I could sing then that I can't now; but I do hope to get my voice back to where it once was since I am not trans and so hormones aren't a factor.

Anyway, this song really suits your voice now. Loved it.

I hear you! I was supposed to go see a speech pathologist in the spring to give me vocal exercises but had to cancel b/c of my hysto complication. I plan on re-scheduling this fall and should have more concrete advice for you. My concern is that I don't want to strain too hard through the changes and wind up doing damage. Hence, the speech pathologist. The advice I have been given is to keep singing through it, but do stop if it hurts. ( I get vocal chord pain when I talk or sing for too long.)
