  • is there anywhere i can get these kind of guitars? i'd love to get a kramer or some kind of charvel. do you know if the Charvel San Dimas is any good?

  • I did a better paint job making the EVH2 guitar...Krammer Bertta body, Eden 24 fret neck, EVH pick p, floyed...dunlope strap locks...

Ended up replacing the scratchy volume pot...My playing might kinda suck but I like building guitars.

  • Good but I just read the tags :-/ ?

  • Wow, this guy RULES!

  • "I'm not worthy"

  • Awesome enough said

  • For me, Women and Children First is the best Van Halen album. Hard choice, but this one is it, and ends with this song, which was never played in regular rotation. Got to love the DLR poster that came with this album too!

  • Satchboggybaby, i met Stevie and Joe in 03 at GC during an autograph singing.Shook their hands and talked to them for 5mins.Now.Go wank on that pussy.(Methead ed)..Hold the pick (right).Yeah, you remember.

  • very sweet. one of my fav vh tunes. well done bro.

  • Haha, love the riff at the end Satch! I always liked that on the original band. VH was always putting little things in their albums just to fuck with people...

  • I wish they would rerecord this and release it as a single. If they released it now I know it would be a monster hit.

  • A very underrated VH tune....

    Nice work!!

  • Thanks satch!!!!! They'll never be another VH.... That music blows my mind!!! Your excellent bro!!! The Master would be proud lol!!!!

  • @nehocyrrah thanks dude! i could play these tunes til i die and i'll NEVER completely figure out what Ed was doing. the old school VH was just magical. Im sure you know that haha

  • @satchbooggy You seem to have the magic figured out fairly well man !

It is awsome to see some one play them so well. Trying to learn from tab is ok but then taking that and watching you has done such a world of good for me.

Lots of oh dam thats how ya do that.

I apreciate all the vids and not just the VH :--)

  • @mrbrownstone242 thanks for watching the vids dude, thats why i make em....

  • @satchbooggy I agree 100% satchbooggy... classic VH is 100% pure magic.. there isn't ONE day that goes by that I don't listen to it.. Nice cover on one of their great songs..

  • thass what im talkin bout!

  • This is truly one of the best songs ever. Great composition and execution! Fuckin' Alex is the man! Eddie's great and Alex is just as great as he is so it's BAD-ASS! Work on those pedal transitions and you'll nail it!

  • so did you just buy a strat body and painted it like that?

  • @igj0123 Looks like a Kramer Striker to me.

  • the intro riff reminds me of dokken's slippin away.

  • Que groso! bien ahi.

  • Excellent job and great sound! what effects arer you using?

  • 4:17 "Growth" right? They wanted to start the next album from that spot, no?

  • FANTASTICO......Ciao

  • yeah boogieman wtg-my 2nd fav. VH song and you nailed it as always. This tune has a great cadence and brings back memories..

  • What pedals are used for this. I think I hear a phase 90 in the original recording. That or

    Possibly A flanger.

  • excellent job bro. one of my alltime favorite vh tunes!!!

  • I saw them do this in St. Louis in 1983 on the Diver Down Tour and Dave was half naked as usual and he carried Eddie on his shoulders and they were running all over the stage!!!! The music was so loud my friends and I were deaf for at least a week and we couldnt hear our parents talk or eachother or our teachers...it was so fucking cool!!! We eventually got our hearing back but not fully!

  • great cover man this is probely van halens best out of many

  • Aint love grand when you finally hit it? One of eddies most badass solos imo, and you did a great job on it and the rest of the song

  • The volume of the guitar and recording is perfect

A powerful song made to sound even stronger !

Usually vids like this sound shit

    5 / 5

  • Sounds really good man. Thanks for sharing. I love this song.

  • Dude, a seriously awesome job on this song. One of my favorite VH songs.

  • Dude, a seriously awesome job on this song. One of my favorite VH songs.

  • i remember ridin the bus to this tune back in middle school probely my fav van halen song all there stuff with roth kicked ass

  • very nice , what amp and F.X.. are you running?

  • Awesome job; dig your playing

  • Awesome as usual.

  • Nice! an underrated VH tune for sure!

    Love the bumblebee!

  • Nice!! I played to all van halen albums learning note for note !! Days have gone by & VH is still so incredible melodic& just plain kicks ass still !!

    Good job Bro!

was 13 now 39 ROFL !! 80's just had that certain feel traveling back in time ... theres something to be said there . It's just still in everyones spirits.

And in their heads no doubt!

  • Dude just got this album the other day...ammmmaaazing!! Definately my fav VH album now next to Fair warning. Couldn't imagine what it felt like in the 80s and the first thing you hear on this album is the intro to and the cradle will rock haha. I'm only 17 so I got NO clue what soever...Keep rockin dude!

  • wow do my eyes deceive me.. another young punk like me that enjoys van halen for their rhythm... hah the only one thing im jealous of in my life... not being born earlier... they had the girls, the music, and the cars!... but yes i can only wonder what it would feel like drivin a 67' camero with the speakers at full blast listening to van halens newest album (WACF at the time) and crusin around with some friends... rock on man!

  • dude what are you like my twin brother or somethin haha! yea man its crazy..i'd rather go with a 69 chevelle though

  • You havent really lived until you listen all the Dave-era Van Halen albums and let them sink their teeth into your soul.........it will change your outlook on life forever........that's the effect it had on me, bro.

  • @Hunkola well said man haha

  • Roth Van Halen had a profound effect on you, bro........Eddie would get misty-eyed if he saw you play and Dave would let you have a hit on his bong !!

  • Dude I love the Dave era. NOBODY has lived until they listened to EVERY SINGLE SONG of the Dave era. You ever listen to some of the demo stuff they did?

  • Agreed 100%, bro........Roth Van Halen came from the Gods.........it's greatness will never be touched in a 1000 years.........embrace it, love it, live it !!

  • al i can say is thank god for halen... one of the greatest and most important to ever live, same goes for dime... pantera, system of a down, and van halen... the 3 bands i recommend to buy there discography's.... cause we all know that true fans buy their cd's:P

  • There is no equal. This song is a summer time sound track for many a lad. 1st 3 VH albums were like a punch in the mouth. Then the knockout with Fair Warning. "Strike that poor boy down". Back in the day I wanted nothing more than to be in a band like VH, hang with hot chicks, party and enjoy life to the fullest. I get the same thrill every time I hear this stuff! BTW,,, nice cover!

  • @Hunkola ME TOO

  • @Hunkola amen bro!!

  • @Hunkola Agreed,, I'm 39yrs old.. I used to sit in my room w/ headphones & listen to a given album back to back once or twice.. I've heard every VH song a million times & I still get goose bumps listening to Ed sometimes..

  • im 14 and this is my fav album. nowhere near the 80's was i born but VH is still my fav band. i was 3 when my brother showed me humans being. then i heard and started playing and the cradle will rock when i was 4.

  • Hey Satchbooggy. I really like the Van Halen shit. Say, do you play any Randy Rhodes when he was with Ozzy? The Slayer sound, go for it, but aren't there two guitars? Where will you post your new sound? Well, keep up the good work.

  • nice guitar...i made the red one but ive always wanted to make the yellow one...it looks so BA

  • yeah man, i made a red one too and relic'ed it. it was a bitch compared to the bumblebee (which is the easiest one to paint)

  • yeah i imagine it would be just as hard as painting the first 2 coats of the frankenstein

  • @satchbooggy Is the bumblebee easier than the first one? (the white and black) ? I would love to make myself a replica of the Unchained-guitar.

  • nah im kidding

  • but u gotta share the stuff u know what im saying nah im just idding OR AM I nah i am OR MAYBE NOT maybe 1 song u havent released or deleted

  • well ok satch dont wanna hold you back from the stuff you enjoy doing without worrying about someone fuckin everything up.

    good luck; E.J

  • thanks bro..im not letting YT/WMG greedy asses hold me back. I have tons of VH material for my own personal use. piss on them :)

  • but dude ur playing is so awesome there has to be something. wait i just realized u cud use back tracks from the atomic punks ednerd used it in his runnin with the devil vid

  • dude you need to face it....all the VH back tracks blow. im not playing vh on YT any longer. im starting my own band locally. we are gonna sound kinda like slayer. My buddy writes tunes out the ass...i might get a 7 banger and drop 18 (thats what we call detuning haha) the bitch and start a new direction.

  • best then humans being satch you think you cud do humans being

  • im done posting VH on YT until wmg quits acting like a bunch of fags....all my unreleased VH tunes are in my personal collection as of now :)

  • Love the outro. thanks for keepin the real VH alive. Your an awesome player

  • Cool song choice like the most obscure song on any of the albums....very cool

  • eddie van halen would be very proud of you

    your awesome dude

  • You play great man. Nice job. :-)

  • dude don't forget they cut this song in a studio, wher ethey can edit it, youplayed it basiclly free hand right along with it, and matched it just about right, kudo's to you, keep jammin. I can't play anymore frost bite ruined the feeling in my fingers, but I really enjoyed this!

  • Its great to see that classic Van Halen will always be performed and preserved by fans/guitarists like you. Women and children first one of VH best. Great job!!!!!!

    keep on playing!!!

  • you are totolly awsome bro!!!

  • Does anyone know what happened to the version that started out w/ vanhalen vending machine? can someone send it to me ?

  • HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO BE THIS GOOD?

  • Are we sure this ISN'T Eddie? Damn, even his hand gestures and postures as he breezes across the strings looks reminscent of him... you've got the groove man. By the way, one of the more forgotten, but great songs of VH.

  • JESUS.........FUCKIN'......... CHRIST.........ya nailed this motherfucker, bro!

What planet were you born? Must be some distant world where everyone plays guitar..........the same planet where Eddie Van Halen is Supreme Chancellor of the High Command and you are his loyal apprentice...........FUCK !!

  • lol

  • That was AWESOME! I love this song, you really kicked it's ass.

Thank you, Ednerd, for directing me here!

  • Can't believe this is the ONLY cover of this song on YTube....great job btw. One of my all time favorite VH tunes!!! I'm workling on it, and having you play along helps while using tabs!

  • I like that black yellow colour sceme. Also perfect pitch my friend

  • AWESOME !!

  • I wish my parents where like you

    rock on cool bro!

  • one van halens best

  • you nailed that lead ,,,,,real nice!!!!!

    Ed would be proud

  • Basically what i'm sayin is EVH also misses alot of notes, just watch some of his youtube videos, but thats OK because he has his own material and doesn't care if he improvises live, purposfully, or accidentally. If my band agrees I will post a video of us playing some VH. I used to play him all of the time until I became wise and studied his infuences among others to adapt my own style. Nothing beats playing your own material. John Coltrane is in there haha :)>

  • Out of all the VH imitators on youtube I have chosen you to say this to. The essence of VH music is not to play his music exact, but to feel his music enough to throw your body around and try not to miss a note in the process. If you do miss a note, so the fuck what. This Rock and Roll stuff is not about imitation, but feeling. I'm sure that eddie van halen would agree. Study music theory and keep yourself fit.

  • so basically what youre saying is...you miss a lot of notes? haha

  • this song is so great great job you can do all of eddies tricks its crazy!

  • NICE! I've always thought that Eddie's tone and his playing were harder edged and a little more raw on WACF than any other VH album. Damn man, how many guitars you got?

  • sweet

  • Good chops ... not an easy song to ply

  • Brilliant playing. In a Simple Rhyme has been a huge favorite of mine for so many years. The guitar's a beauty as well.

  • Wow, what can I say!? An awesome version of one of my favorite tracks from W&CF. Great work!

  • Like the old film look.

  • 1:22 what is that called when u do that satchbooooooogggggggy? me likey

  • a pick slide

  • thats it? hahahaha ... wow fancy

  • guess how many times i have watched this vid??? not tellin LOL

    u fuckin rule satchbooooooooooggggyyyy!

  • WOW... i just cant believe how fucking good you are... still amazes me

  • bravo

  • ok This is one of my Favorite VH songs ever

  • Another VH Classic..

    And yet another guitar?

    How many do you have?

  • Great Job!!!

  • Killer job!

  • Great job. One of the few VH songs I can't find tab for. You rocked this one.

  • Texas jam in summer of '80 they totally ROCKED this tune!!! Great job.

  • Wow, fantastic job! Very well done.

  • Great!

  • great job man, i learned this a week ago just from watching ur vid, thanks

  • how long have you been playing???

  • on and off for 20 yrs

  • Satchbooggy, you and "Ednerd" have made this 40 year old Van Halen fan's millenium with your outstanding talent. VH(1) is what made me want to play guitar back in '79. I never got very good despite the (new) Gibson LP "Black Beauty" Custom I eventually scrimped & saved $750 for by bagging groceries ( a R. Rhoads homage, remember that poster?) Great to be able to see so many all time favorite VH songs played with such aplomb! B.T.W., other comment is response to "Growth" trivia question.

  • I have to disagree with you sir, I play guitar and I love to play over the original recording because 99.9 percent of backtracks suck and can't measure up to the original song.

  • I remember band practice several years ago when a young gentleman, friends with our bassist, came running in with a tape claiming we had to listen to. It was the Scorpions tune "Sails of Charon" with him trying to play Uli Roth's outrageous licks over it all. He stood there beaming stating "Isn't that good?"

After that I never much cared for versions of tunes by people playing over the original recording. Especially when you can hear the original guitarist, chops or not. Karoke software exists.

  • thats the beauty of You Tube chief...you can always click to another channel :) karoke and VH doesnt go together sorry man

  • this was awesome...i love this VH tune.

  • BRAVO!!!! One of my favorite and most underrated VH tunes played with not only great tone and technique, but you got the feeling BRO! Clips like this are what makes youtube cool!!!! Keep it up!

  • hey did i comment on this yet? lol.. i forget.. anyhooo... i dont like it.. HAAAAAAAAAAAA gotcha

  • awesome tone!

    holy crap man!

    sweet guitar too

  • If you've got the interest, you should take the time.

  • Don't think that kramer deserved to be murdered like that, but nice job

  • you'll get over it. it went on to bigger better things haha

  • Now for the trivia question regarding this song, only real Van Halen fans know the awnser to this. When In a simle Rhyme ends, there is a break, and then they start playing another song for about 14 seconds. What is the name of that little jam they do? It does have name and it is not the end of In a Simple Rhyme as many would think, let's see who knows.....

  • hmmmm. the instrumental is called growth....i bet eddie has the rest of it locked away in his studio or his head somewhere. i wish he would finish that gem :)

  • Indeed it is, I knew you would know it, I just wanted to see if others would......but we will award you the trivia points....

  • It sounded like "goose stepping Germans", to my friends and I so that's what we always called it. My jaw dropped when he played it live and he goose stepped across the stage

  • Metallica does the same thing with the goose step during "Am I Evil?" from their 89' Seattle show.....I don't know if it's on youtube but go look....

  • "growth"?

  • Yep, it's a demo song they never released, but stuck on the end of In a Simple Rhyme to tease people.

  • Forgive me for being 2 months behind on this reply, but I seem to recall Eddie stating in an interview back in the day that at the time their intention was to start their next album with it.

  • Nice, this is actually one of my favorites off of Women and Children First, that whole album is pretty much good throughout.

  • this one is nice and loud
