Thanks for the reply. I am an avid fan of Montalban, especially his older movies. It does not surprise me if he was. He always put his all into whatever he did (ie Kabuki dancer in Sayonara). I read his book "Reflections:" but he does not ever mention playing the piano. I knew he played the guitar. Anyway, is there recordings or such of his playing piano? Any other incite would be welcomed. thanks
This is going to seem way out there... There is a movie clip (on Youtube) of the movie Fiesta with Ricardo Montalban playing some of this on a piano... He seems to be hitting every note and his technique is pretty good for an "actor"... As great as Montalban was as actor, would you (or your uncle) know or be able to tell if he was actually able to play the piano? (Even if the sound is dubbed later?) Just thought I'd throw this out there since no one seems to be able to have an answer.
I have seen your uncle play several times. I saw him again on Saturday (02/05/09). The person who orgainsed the recital has uploaded some video to YouTube. If you do a search for "Roman Rudnytsky" you will see his marvellous playing.
Thanks so much for the info!! There are soo many videos of him playing! I haven't been able to see him for a while, but I would love to see him again. He lives in Ohio though so it makes it hard for the family to get together. Again, thanks soo much for telling me about the other videos!! God Bless, Maureen
He is a master of piano technique. Just gets better every year. An astonishing career, created independently. Someone should document the way he has made music for people all over the world who would otherwise have never had a chance to hear anything like it. Magic!
This man is a brilliant pianist. I have organised three recitals by Roman in Shropshire, England and seen him perform a number of times around the UK. He never fails to deliver. Keep up the good work Roman!
This is the first time I hear this piano version. I played this piece on a full orchestra arrangement. Awesome performance. Salutes from Puerto Rico (yet Venezuelan).
El es mi tio!!! Nosotros vivimos en Nueva York y mio tio vive en Ohio, pero me gusta y cuando mi tio toca la piano. Gracias para la video y ojala que tu gusta mio tio.

No, I am on his wife's side of the family. She sings, but she stays in Ohio most of the time to take care of the grandchildren....

No problem. I recall Roman saying that his nephew was 'engaged' to Anna Pacquin. Are you related to that nephew?
